My favorite part that I learned so far about Far East of Eden is that it exists.
Best part!
Agreed!

Yes, you're absolutely right, another excellent looking RPG, and a lousy one at that, that we discover on this console. I still discover games and RPGs almost 30 years later, it's just crazy this super nintendo.
I won't have the right words to say how much I love this console.
This looks so Amazing that it should have sold 1 million units here in the USA.
I mean, I am blown away.
It's so good and so overlooked!
This is the first time in a looooong time one of these obscure old game channels showed me a game I've never heard of
Same!
Yeah so just discovered this video along with the Treasure of the Rudras video you did and am super pumped to check both those out
Awesome, thank you!
This looks like a RPG I really would have enjoyed back in the day.
It's really good!
Dude you are the “unheard of gems” channel that other channels try to be. I’ve heard of like 6 new games I never even heard whispers of as a retro fan.
The cinema cut style scenes make sense with the series starting on the PC-Engine. Especially the CD games had been known for their use animated and voiced cut scenes.
True!
This game is so darn good that i feel it really is a crime that we did not get it here in North America at the time it came out, because i suspect that had we did get it back then, it would have rivalled games like chrono trigger and FF6, that's how good i think this game is. Really regrettable that it took this long for us to enjoy it here. That's just my opinion.
Totally agreed, super overlooked game!
And second game on PC-Engine is even better !!!
Never played that one!
This is the most under-appreciated game on the SNES. I am so happy it was finally translated, because it's easily a Top 5 JRPG on the console. How they managed to make a 16-bit world feel so lived-in and immersive is just amazing to me. You could have told me this was a PS1 or Saturn game and I would have fully believed it.
I tend to agree, such an underrated RPG that it seems like no one has played.
It's a great game. I have hopes that someone will translate the Saturn games of this series in my lifetime
Woah, this looks very impressive. Didn't know this existed but definitely adding it to the "Games I have to play" list!
Thanks, great review!
Glad you liked it! Definitely worth playing!
Really been bringing that fire as of late my dude, keep up the good work & thanks for the content
Appreciate it!
This channel is a treasure; I'll never find out those jewels of retrogaming by myself!
Thank you, glad you think so!
i couldn't believe it when the translation patch released. i played it and sadly i never finished it, maybe i should go back to it sometime when i'm done with other SNES games in my backlog.
One of my all time favs....Stunning series as well.
Thanx, didn't even know about this game. Just downloaded the rom.
Holy, crap - WOW, can not wait to play this. Thanks Xygor!
One of the most overshadowed RPGs on the whole system!
The other thing with storage was more about the limitations at the time. Today, you could make a cart filled with several terabytes worth of storage and still have room for and special hardware enhancement chips. Granted, modern game consoles are basically gaming PCs built with pretty much everything needed - until the next major updates in graphics, etc come along. Nowadays, cartridges of some type, might be more practical in as much as all the data can be stored in it, and would have the most direct access to the CPU, next to an internal consol HD, but without needing to worry about the limitations of the internal storage in a consol HD. For an internal consol HD can only hold so many games, plus internet downloads can take a long time with massive sized games. Among the reasons why not to reconsider cartridges are chip shortages, the distribution centers needed to mass produce, and it's easier and more profitable to control a game's development through online subscriptions and selling updates and DLC, etc.
So you told me to wait until I watched this one and you were right...this game looks amazing. You have now introduced me to so many SNES RPGs I didn't know existed. To be fair, they were all Japan only but still. I have them all downloaded and the translation patches and on my SNES Classic. Once I'm done with the games I'm currently playing I'll be onto all these you've made me aware of. Thank you good sir.
The combat is reminiscent of Phantasy Star 4 (at least the view). Hah, I typed this out right before you said it in the video. Perhaps I should watch the whole thing before commenting?
Do you know why more games didn't use the special decompression chip? I mean if it is there, why didn't they make use of it?
Thanks again for your response. I think the reason the chip wasn't used very much is it made the cartridge quite a bit more expensive to produce, and it was at the tail of end of the system's life so more companies were devoting more to the expanded media the CD-based systems offered.
@@Xygor Ah I misunderstood. The chip was in the cartridge, not the SNES itself.
Great vid! Now I want to play this game.
Go for it!
Thanks for bringing this one to light. Sadly, I can't figure out how to patch the rom and translation together. I spent over an hour trying.
Love your videos!!
Tengai Makyou is my favorite game series EVER!!!
Thank you very much for sharing this title on this video. I've played a lot of SNES RPG's back in the day. Recently started to play translated games that never came. I never heard of this one! Looks beautiful. Gonna look for this one ASAP! Any suggestions on more good translated Jrpgs? (SNES, GBA, or PSX)
Dual Orb II
Oh dang, this looks excellent!
That time mechanic seems interesting, something like that could easily be abused on Windows where you can change your date and time with no problem, but on consoles that don't allow easy time adjustment it could be used as a game feature.
Imagine a game where night and day cycles are tied into the real world, and if you get into the game during night spooky monsters appear :D
@REBL 1 Dude, I heard about that one. I get that it could be frustrating but I also feel like a gimmick is gimmicky and the GameBoy or GBA had been made for that kind of thing.
Maybe I'm wrong but I think a lot of us here can actually remember wanting the GB printer when it came out or getting one. That thing was awful, fun but awful.
In Japan they had a frigging fish finder cartridge contraption for the dang thing, and it may have been (I have NO proof beyond my own assumptions) but it may have been why we ended up with electronic fishing pole games back in the late 90s.
Far East was just dipping its methodical toes in the idea of having an onboard time keeper because how crazy would it be if your game, the system or both knew what time or date it was.
Over what could seem like a lifetime from when Far East was released its' gimmick(s) may have lost their cool factor but why talk shit about the anatomy of a fossil?
I told my Sega Saturn it was the latest date it could be, and let me tell you that the Saturn was Y2K ready.
Time keeping for games and their systems was a big deal all that time ago... Now your vacuum knows its own birthday, and the idea of video games that keep track of time is silly.
This was a very long and windy way to say that I think what it did was and is actually kind of cool in a "What's your favorite dinosaur?" way.
@@JohnSmith-XYZ Its the type of design that can be annoying for some people, but if you have a lot of disposable time (or are a casual player who doesn't care about missable content) then there's nothing else like it. A world that reacts realistically, with a real-time day-night thing going on, is very good for immersion.
well you just got a subscriber man
Doesn't look like a diamond in the rough - it's just plain brilliant!
Convinced me to check this game out.
Excellent. Sure wish someone would translate the PC Engine CD games.
I was just thinking of phantasy star 4 and 7th saga
Divine beasts that are sealed by evil and must be freed to stop it? Hm, reminds me of one famous modern game by Nintendo :)
Sounds about right!
Its one of those ideas that were prevalent historically in Japanese folklore, and many Japanese developers take inspiration from those same sources, so naturally similar concepts show up time and time again in different games!
The game is so advanced that my SD2SNES can't handle it.
True, isn't it like the only game it can't handle?
You're starting to sound like Tom from Toonami.
I hope they translate the main series soon… PC engine CD games might be hard to translate but what about the psp collection that contains Tengai Makyō Ziria, Manjimaru, and Kabukiden in the same rom?
Hello my friend, can i play this game on my snes classic mini modded?
I actually don't think so. I think the multicarts that are made don't don't have the special compression chip this uses.
@@Xygor even via the snes classic mini with jaikbreak? I want to play it so much, but i don't know how
@@TGNTheGamesNintendoOficial I really don't know enough to be sure about this.
welp a other game to add to the list , thank you :)
Hope you enjoy it!
According to Stone Age Gamer's compatibility chart, there are only five Super NES games that do not work on the SD2SNES/FXPak Pro, and unfortunately, this is one of them. It's because of the SPC7110 chip.
I heard that too....pretty unfortunate!
Eu vou jogar esse jogo agora mesmo obrigado 😄 não conhecia esse jogo
Which snes or mega drive/genesis fan translated RPGs would you suggest?
As an RPG fanatic I've played tons of RPGs on both systems but only those that were in english.
Maybe a top 10 fan translated RPGs video?
Complete Story Explained coming soon?!?!🙏
Probably not on this one!
this game was side story of the main game it didn't have any timeline
i wonder if this will work well with VC injection for the 3DS, alot of patched games simply do not work properly with this method. Shame since it is my favorite means of playing SNES on th go. Might have to try it on my SD2SNES at home

where can i find english patched rom
Is there related too the fighting game with the same name??
Oh thank you so much for that..
That was righteous..
Big up yahself.
Yass i will do that
Again thanks
Stay safe
@Scott Beck im the opposite i only know the Neo Geo game.
@Scott Beck totally lol
Too bad Far East Eden Zero is the side story of the main story and the main games didn't get any translated
It must be because translating PC Engine games is hard. And, also, these games have the largest scripts...
Kind of sounds like Spike from Cowboy Bebop
theres waaay too much random battles which slow things down and ya dont need to grind i guees but it just kills it for me
