    It's actually crazy how in a world where eggs cost like $8-10 a dozen, you can get a fantastic mic for like $90, and the prices just keep dropping every year for both mics and headphones/speakers/IEMs alike.

    Just my few cents.. In the future, also test the noise floor of the mics. For Voice Overs and voice actors doing quiet parts, the noise floor can play a huge role, and its those factors that sets companies like SE and AKG apart from others like Behringer. On cheaper brands you can actually hear the noise floor when doing quite parts, but not while singing etc.

    I have the SE X1 USB and the AT2035 and you honestly can't go wrong with any of these mics starting out! It's your audio interface/preamp, and the sound treatment of your environment that's waaay more important. The MA-67 definitely seems impressive at this price range, but there's not much point if you don't properly treat your environment first.

    MA-67 definitely sounds great. the differences between all of them are surprisingly minute by comparison. I have been testing out a B-1 last few days. I did an AB test against my Shure SM57, with and without FetHead preamp. Strangely i cannot hear much difference either. BUT, it just seems so much cooler singing into that Big Condenser....Maybe it is a mental thing. Amazing what $100 will get you in the world of Microphones these days!

    Thanks for a great video... which affordable microphone do you think has the best sensitivity? My friend has MSA which has resulted in his vocal cords getting tremors & deteriorating, so his voice gets breathy and cuts in and out to the point that his phone mic can't pick up most of his voice and it sounds like his signal is dropping out. I can't understand most of what he says on the phone, and he is unable to use voice to text. Unfortunately, his whole body is affected so he can't do text to voice, either! Also, could you plug these into a smartphone? Or, would he need to use his laptop to make calls with messenger or zoom, etc.? Cheers.

    • @EdwardSmithMusic
      @EdwardSmithMusic  Рік тому +2

      Personally I like both microphones. If I had to try break it down via categories I like to focus on when buying a mic:
      Design - This is a preference thing.
      Build Quality - The MA-67 is built better than the spark.
      Capsule - MA-67
      Accessories - MA-67 for me… (the Spark comes with a wooden box and the 67 does not… but I personally prefer the pop filter and carry bag because I would actually use the pop filter more)… ALSO A PREFERENCE THING
      Sound Quality - Both sound really good. The Spark sounds a bit more detailed, but can sound harsh and tinny at times. The MA-67 sounds smoother because it has more low end (which is something you only find in more expensive mics)
      So, for me when looking at price and what you are getting… the MA-67 stands out most 🫡

      There's also C01 XLR version. It's good sounding microphone vs the cheapest Chinese c**p but it's hissy. It makes too much noise needing to be edited out. And it takes from its quality.

    Thanks Edward. Great vid. When you presented the MA-67 as the top mic, I don't see that anywhere. Did you mean the MA-87?

      The MA-67 is a brand new microphone that literally released to the public beginning of this year, that's why the info on it is fairly minimal. I have left a link of the microphone in the description of this video if you would like to check it out.

    Is this video sponsored by Melon Audio?

      @EdwardSmithMusic  Рік тому +4

      No, this video is not a paid sponsor by any brand. Sweetwater did send me the Behringer B-1 and Melon Audio sent me the MA-67. I've had the rest of the mics for the past few years now.

      @@EdwardSmithMusic good to know mate. I just didn't wanna venture into unexplored territory with these new mics, but I will be giving these MA-67's a chance. Plan on getting a matched pair. Are these a considerable improvement over the MA-87?

    Nice comparison. However, I reckon, if you pay more than £5 for a mic, you've been ripped off.
