Hip Dysplasia in Dogs

- Hip dysplasia is one of the most common skeletal diseases seen in dogs. It is a lifelong condition affecting the hip joint and contributes to the development of other conditions such as osteoarthritis. Tiggy was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis at 8 months of age.
We started treating Tiggy at 8 months of age when she couldn't jump at all. We used pain medications, joint supplements or nutraceuticals, Pentosan polysulphate injections, acupuncture, laser therapy and physical rehabilitation which included neuromuscular electrical stimulation and therapeutic exercises.

so many wonderful people sharing good advice here. love it. We have our dog on Paw Puddy dog treats made with hemp oil and it helps our australian ridgeback with his arthretis.
This video was so informative. Thank you for taking the time to make it.
I have a 8 months old Labrador retriever, he has hip dysplasia, and I have been many vets they are not helpful in a way where I can help my pup! I'm from India and I have just got a pet after 27 years and I don't want him to walk badly all his life, If you or anyone can help me through the videos or anykind of information I will be happy
Surgery
Great video!!
Our 1 yr old golden rottie has been having a noticeable limp on her right back leg after playing at the dog park for around 3 months . I don’t know if it’s because she fell off our couch while playing and landed on her side on our wooden floor ( and hopefully will get better with time) or something more permanent 😥 I remember thinking her walk was odd as a puppy though because she really exaggerated her hip movements (but I never payed attention with any other dog so could have been normal)
Having this issue. Feels sad. I got dr clauder's joint power for joints. I hope it fixes it.
Any progress?
Unfortunately, hip dysplasia can't be cured or fixed. It can however be successfully managed using a multimodal approach which includes joint supplements.
@@almakerr7 can it be fixed through the hip surgery?
Are you able to feel hip dysplasia when they walk?
The problem I have is I can’t really tell how hip dysplasia looks unless it is severe.
In mild cases, there is often bunny hopping (where both hindlegs move together), a slight swaying of the hindend, slowness to rise and maybe difficulty jumping or climbing stairs. If it is unilateral, the muscles of the affected leg may be "thinner" when compared to the other (non-affected) leg.
For Gods sake turn that bloody music off!
Mg dog is 3 months almost 4 and walks like this and i’m afraid we can’t afford that treatment 😭 You can tell something is wrong with his hips.
Please try to find a local vet or physical rehab therapist that could prescribe a home physio plan with the different physio exercises that you can do at home. There are good joint diets and supplements available which can help as well as keeping your doggy's weight down and making some changes to the home environment such as non-slippy floors, ramps instead of stairs, raising food and water bowls a bit off the ground and lifting in and out of the car.
A video of writing. Was looking for a video of a dog walking with it so I can maybe identify it in my dog. That video was useless.
