I have been working on movement disorders research for two years, and I would say this is one of the best videos I've seen on this training! Thanks for disseminating this masterpiece!
During 3rd year neuro rotation, I never knew what to look for when watching someone walk. This video is so clear. Thank you very much.
Baffles me why 25 people have disliked this video! Thank you indeed, Dr Verghese!
Brilliant, i wish we had more pedagogic instructors like this these days...we have many doctors but only a few pedagogues which have the ability to transfer their knowledge to fellow young doctors in a such a way to make the information comprehensible. Well done!
absolutely makes me appreciate being able to just walk, even if i don't have the best balance in the world.
As a visual learner, great demonstration.
Thank you Dee!
@@StanfordMedicine25 if any one want to take addmission in this university ? What's the procedure
Thank you for this video. It is a very helpful review of basics for me. I have been in practice for 30- years and it is the type of review that has clinical value to me. I appreciate this public service for me and my patients.
Only true mastery can make such information easily understandable. Bravo.
What a beautiful demonstration. Have never seen a teacher like this in my life
Excellent! Well Explained. I have no doubts now. Thank you for sharing you wisdom with people you don't know but learn from you.
+Renku07 Thanks! More videos coming!
A great teacher !!!. He performed these abnormal gaits like he, himself, a patient.
This series is incredible. Many thanks Stanford!
This real teaching of medicine. He is a gem of teacher. Thank you sir.
Incredible video. Stanford Medicine 25 videos are simply second-to-none.
Glad you like them!
Excellent demonstration. As a diabetes doctor and UA-cam educator, gait examination is an important part of the general examination. Also important to examine them as they walk with the physios as you can miss a golden diagnosis of Parkinsonism.
Thanks a lot from a Spanish neurorehabilitation therapist
This guy is a genius! Love his Ted talks and lecture videos
As an NP student, I found this video extremely helpful. Excellent demonstration and explanation! Great work.

As a medical student, the usefulness of these great videos cannot be overstated. Thank you!
From an old retired doc, your first impression as you watch patients is a very useful tool to have. My wife and I still play a game when we walk down the street called "Make the diagnosis".
Great explanation...i have come across many videos but this is the video which clarified all doubts.. thank you very much
Thanks so much for this video- I'm about to go into OSCEs and this is a great consolidation, with some added explanations that makes it easier to understand the basis of the gaits!
Best gait lecturing I've ever watch .. thank you alot
I swear to God this is the best demonstration and explanation I have yet seen
Thank you doctor, very useful for general physicians. Such observations done and recorded by us in referral notes is appreciated by neurologists, saves their time. thanks
This is one of the best educational videos I've ever seen!
Today I saw a man with a weird gait and I just wondered which condition he might have. Thanks to your video I could easily identify it was cerebral palsy gait.
Thanks a lot for such a great video.
Dr. Verghese your videos are concise and informative, as a medical student this is an invaluable resource
Thank you for the kind comment Nabil.
The best available demonstration of Abnormal Gaits.
A very special thanks for everyone involved with this presentation.
Thank you for the great videos. They have been really helpful for the OSCE, particularly the commentaries.
I have been teaching gait abnormalities. This is the best way I have found explaining gait abnormalities
Excellent! You are the best and the wisest teacher.Keep sharing your wisdom and help us benefitting our patients.
This has been extremely helpful! There's so much right in front of our eyes which goes unseen. Thank you so much Sir, for this beautiful explanation and demonstration. 💜
Dr Verghese, thank you very much for the video. You really do have a talent for explaining things. I only wish I saw it in 2003 when we were first introduced to gait abnormalities at the university :)
This is the best video on UA-cam that explains gait abnormalities in such an easy way to understand. Wow 🤩 this is so cool ! I appreciate this so much.
Thanks for this most informative video. It is helping me understand that the way my husband walks is not normal. My husband was told at the VA that he has myelopathy and spondylosis at the T9-T10 region. He has bladder/bowel issues, no control of his right foot, right leg is weak, he falls frequently and does that stomping walk (shown in the video) at night when he gets out of bed for something. He was told at the VA they could not do anything for him but we're seeking a second opinion outside the VA Health System. Not to knock the VA Health System in any way because they have been very good to my husband.
I just don't understand how people doesn't encourage such videos... in 6 years it should have atleast viewed lika a million Doctors world wide 🤨.... but truely loved ut🥰
thank you very much doctor for your wonderful videos ... i'm getting ready for my finals in less than 3 months and visual aids like these videos make studying effortless
Omg a brilliant Doctor from my country!!! Very helpful videos ... Thumbs up Doc!!

What a simple and well done video. As a 4th year medical student preparing for an OSCE this is wonderful. Thank you.
gait was too foreign to me before I watched this video, and now I feel like a master of this topic. Thank you Prof!
The Best Video which I have ever seen for GAIT .....
Simple and well demonstrated ...
Awesome teaching....
Excellent talk and description of the different Giats, thank you
My mother in law endured a stroke and survived nearly 20 years suffering with a hemiplegic gate. Surprising emotional reaction seeing this displayed after her passing and remembering that as she also had nearly complete aphasia which didn't allow for expression of how things affected her.
My mother is encountering cognitive decline (without her primary care Dr concerned enough to conduct or order testing so her family could better see to her needs) and I've noticed her fluidity has been reduced but have no clue as to how to motivate her to develop a routine of physical activity or exercise to improve her stability and decrease risk of falls. Like many, I feel ill equipped to properly care for her and assist her in maintaining her independence and quality of life.
one of the best explanations!!! thank you so much! you have such a broad knowledge and practical skills!
Correction: Trendelenburg gait demonstrates weakness of the gluteus medius on the side opposite of the advancing lower extremity. Hence, the pelvis cannot be maintained in a level position during SLS. The patient leans toward the affected side to compensate for the glute med weakness.
Chris Kirby Thanks for the comment. That is indeed correct. Drop of hip opposite to weakness, lean towards affected side to balance.
Thanks for this comment! I'd just made a notecard based on this video. For once I'm glad I read the comments!
@Undead Burg, because he's human.
@Undead Burg he aint an actor.... might have realised all of a sudden he was acting and lost concentration..... wonderful video! Chris, thankyou. Thanks a lot!!
What correction are u talking about? He did mention everything about Trendelenburg correctly..
Can you specify what wrong he told?

I wish this professor taught at my school. I could watch this 9 times in a row!
No doubt its a blessing for people with normal gates Thx Dr. this is the best video about gate abnormalities.
Nicely explained and demonstrated about the cerebellar ataxia gait. We take walking for granted until we lose our ability to walk normally.
So well performed. Thank you for the amazing teaching.
