@Unwoke649 they're awesome. Different personalities types, but they are both kind people. If they aren't your cup of tea, that's cool, but there no need to say they suck. Also, Jenn is Holden's wife. I don't think he'd be appreciative of a random person on the internet trying to be negative and saying his wife and best friend sucks but bless your heart. All the best.

It’s not about the simple premise that makes these movies so great. It’s the actors and writing. The comedic actors from this era and again in the early 2000’s (old school) are unmatched by what passes for comedy today. These movies didn’t rely on special effects and huge budgets. You could put Chris Farley or John Candy in anything and it would do well.

First, I have to say that this is my favorite reaction by Matt. I 100% agree with you, Chris was a comedic legend. He burned out instead of fading away.
They definitely had an Abbott and Costello or Laurel and Hardy vibe. Even Martin and Lewis. The great comedy duos always had that funny and straight dynamic.
This is one of my favorites as well. If you love John Candy as much as I did, and I feel the same way about the loss of John Candy as I do. Chris Farley, you have to check out only the lonely. I imagine it is one you haven't seen, because it did not have success in the box office. But it was by far John Candy's best role. He got to play the romantic lead, and it has Maureen O'Hara, Ally sheedy and James Belushi. I don't know how it isn't more known, but I know all three of you would love it. Based upon your love of Tommy boy. It is a different kind of humor, but it is John Candy's. Best work. Uncle Buck being second.

When you watch Adam Sandler’s 50 First Dates Dan Ackroyd refers to this movie. It’s sad that Farley passed away so young. He and David Spade were such a great team. They were funny in “Black Sheep” also. 6:08 you need to pause that scene and read the names on there. One says “Helen Keller F” and there were other famous people on there. 6:32 they were going to bring a stunt double in for the table fall but Chris was adamant that he could do it. 7:01 yeah there was a night that Chris wasn’t feeling well and David went out with Rob Lowe to get drinks. When Chris found out he was jealous and would constantly say “how’s Rob Lowe” to David. They got into a physical altercation on set and filming had to stop until they cooled down. 7:42 he was sober but he developed a coffee addiction. He would have about 27 cups of cappuccino and sometimes he’d do three before a scene which would explain his high energy. 15:13 it took five weeks to get that deer to stand on the car. They gave a trainer a car and had them work with the deer using food. 15:30 “fat guy in a little coat was a gag they’d do in their SNL office when they were bored. It wasn’t a song at first until the director heard Chris singing it when he was bored so he said let’s shoot it that way. 17:42 Chris Farley dated her during filming. That also caused a little tension between the two. 18:42 this was another gag that David Spade did to Chris Farley in the hotels they stayed in and Chris fell for it every time. 18:50 Chris did a couple takes naked but his sausage kept popping out and one take he turned to the camera and said “Do you like that Ms. Lansing?” Referring to the head of Paramount at the time. 29:14 Rob Lowe wanted his role “uncredited” to make it a surprise when people saw him.

It was so hard to deal with two of my favorite comedic actors passing away within a few years of each other. Sometimes I wonder if John Candy could have been a positive influence on Chris if they had ever worked together on a movie or show. From what I understand about Chris, he wanted to find a partner in life. But after he got so famous and rich, he could never trust whether the women he dated truly cared for him or were just gold diggers. Such a waste of a great talent and fine human. David Spade was his best friend and has stated that he will never be the same after losing Chris.

First, always love seeing Mat and his input. Tommy Boy will always have a special place in my heart as well. I grew up watching it. The physical comedy from the 90s is just simple, and that is what makes it so funny. I will also take Holden's 8 rate. Sorry, solid 8!

YES!! Jenn FTW. I actually celebrated when you hit Holden with the, "Whose to say". F'ing eh, gurl!

One of my favorites. I would laugh hard when watching it in portuguese in Brazil, and then when I moved to the US and watched it in english I loved it way more. 9/10 for 90's comedies.

The story Jen is talking about was Rob Lowe wanted to hang out with Spade and Farley during filming and Farley was tired and went to his trailer to sleep. Spade and Lowe went and hung out together and the next day Farley heard about it and asked Spade "had fun with Rob Lowe". They got into a physical fight and basically didn't talk to each other other then reading their lines during filming.

I actually loved Almost Heroes with two late great comedians Chris and Matthew Perry. Same Abbot and Costello type playing off each other, but very different kind of comedy as it;s a lot more slapstick and goofy and completely ridiculous. Almost like an Adam Sandler type movie. A lot of hate towards it, but as it was Chris's last movie before his death it was very entertaining.

Both Tommy Boy and Black Sheep are great but I wish more people would react to Beverly Hills Ninja because Haru is awesome

    Black Sheep is underrated
Tommy is an overall better film but I found the comedy in Black Sheep to be way funnier
Hope yall get to see it

when looking back at this movie it really makes me wonder how The Movie Joe Dirt could have been even better if Chris was still alive to be in it...i can just imagine Joe Dirt/David Spade coming across Chris's Character maybe "a guy who lives in a van down by the river" 🤣🤣

A vote for you guys to watch black sheep. Tommy boy is a classic, but I like black sheep quite a bit. Feels very similar, kinda how Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau’s Out to Sea follows Grumpy Old Men 1-2 movies.

The funeral transition is probably the greatest in film history. People have mentioned it previously, but there is an easter egg to this movie in 50 First Dates. Joe Dirt, next?
