Office Space gotta be the most relatable movie I've ever watched
When i worked at a telemarketing office we had a woman named Sarah Michelle
And she actually played into it and had a buffy photo at her cubicle 😂
It's the funniest possible look at PTSD.
add Falling Down 1993 to that
You're telling me. I even used to work at a place that ended with the word 'tech' back in the 90s.
It is.
The best trivia from this movie: Swingline actually didn’t make a red colored version of their stapler. But because of the success of this movie, masses of office workers demanded to have a red Swingline stapler. And they complied, and it became their best selling stapler of all time.
That begs the question: How did they get the original red stapler? If they painted it - why did they go through the trouble of painting it red!?
@@schainaubb Mike Judge's original cartoon shorts based on the Milton character had a red stapler on his desk. He didn't know back then that Swingline didn't make a red stapler.
I bought my co-worker a red one!
I have a red swingline on my desk right in front of me.
@@schainaubb That's a question for the props department.
My favorite Mike Judge movie is Idioracy(2006). Some people say Mike Judge predicted todays life and times some people say idiocracy is a documentary. I think Jen & Holden would enjoy this movie.
I support this comment
I definitely agree, I'll throw in a comment for them to watch Idiocracy @@OwningMicrobe
We're quite a ways from Idiocracy, but people thinking we're already there shows we're heading down that path.
Oh 100% would love a video on this movie!
This and Idiocracy are not comedies. They are documentaries!
Yep. One thing that I think is sad but true from this movie is how all the lunch places are big corporate-owned chains. It's so much sadder working for a company that's run from far away. They are so disconnected from their employees.
I love this movie but "Idiocracy" just made me mad and sad at the same time. It was just to real.
so what do you call documentaries ? aka. Titanic revisited.
Damn it feels good to be a gangster
Diedrich Bader is a seriously underrated comedic actor!
Also underrated voice of Batman
@@neopagn2004 “Batman does not eat nachos.”
The blank stare to Peter after he says "two girls at the same time..." is perfection. Still laugh no matter how many times I watch it.
REX KWON DO
3:44 Fun fact:
Gary Cole based his Bill Limburgh voice , mannerisms and inflictions on Mike Judge's
And Mike is also the Chaci's manager grilling Jennifer's character about flaire
Chotchkie's
Bill Lumberg is wearing what appears to be a class ring. It's actually an Earthforce Academy senior ring that he kept as a prop his role on Babylon 5: Crusade.
flair
This was one of those movies that no one saw in theaters but everyone seemed to own it on DVD. It seemed like it was always on.
Same with Idiocracy. Judge really knows how to make cult classics it seems.
I never owned the dvd .. I pirated it :)
I would argue that missing out on comedy from the 90s and earlier is a blessing. Because there is such a dry spell of good comedy right now.
There is a dry spell of good entertainment right now, period. Hollywood has been creatively bankrupt for a while because they don't want to lose money taking risks on new and unknown things, so they have been losing money instead on rehashing and ruining all the things we used to love because one or two of them ended up being good, but the vast majority are terrible.
This started with the music industry in the early 2000's and has now made its way to film.
Can't make jokes anymore without social media getting up in arms about it!
True. The rest of us have live vicariously through reaction channels to get a short lived hit of what it was like watching this stuff when it was new.
"Hey, Peter... Watch out for your cornhole, bud." A HILARIOUS movie!
Mike Judge seems to like cornholes. 🤣🤣
"You think anybody thinks I'm a failure because I go home to Starla at night? Forget about it now".
@@dsfddsgh I AM THE GREAT CORNHOLIO!!!!
One thing I didn't notice for years was that Lumbergh's parking space starts to show his demotion as the movie goes on.
Also he died in the fire according to Mike Judge
One thing I noticed after a few watches is...That "INITECH" is in a bit of a financial mess. I base that on how many phone calls "Nina" is getting and she's the receptionist for corporate accounts payable. Meaning that "INITECH" is not up to date on paying their bills.
When i was in the Army, one of the NCOs was trying to use the printer in the office and apparently it wasn't working and he very loudly announced, "PC load letter? Dafuq does that mean?" We all died 😂😂😂
The problem with the complaints about cubicles is that management went”we can save you from cubicles and put you in an ‘open office’ where you don’t have walls and sit right next to your neighbor with no separation in your workspaces and no assigned cube. It’ll save us money and it will be funny to watch you try to work on the phone while you have someone two feet away having a completely different conversation on the phone.”
I love this movie, but I feel like it contributed to a worse working environment in a small way by opening up this conversation for misinterpretation.
The cubes were a problem, but the open office plan is way worse.
Wait, what were we talking about?
Skip to My Loo made me spit coffee all over my kitchen table! Brilliant idea! 😂😂
George Costanza came up with that like over a decade ago, unfortunately.
@@jorgeg2941fact
Sorry, someone already came up with the "Skip to My Loo" idea. It's an APP that shows you where all the public/private bathrooms are in big cities and their ratings. I used it when I visited NYC.
About the guy listening to the rap and singing along, Jenn said, "I don't think that would fly today."
I see people still do that all the time. It is such a brilliant gag to show the typical listener act tough when he really has that fear and it is still very relevant now.
Sorry, Holden. George Costanza already came up with the idea for that app and he called it the iToilet. It was in the Cub Your Enthusiasm episode called Seinfeld from November 2009.
I think you two would really enjoy The Other Guys with Will Farrell and Mark Wahlberg, it's one of my favorite comedies 😂
Aim for the bushes
@@HoldenHardman hey have you guys remember those halloween stuff
I used to wander around mumbling to myself after watching this movie, always ending with 'I could burn this place down'.
Ever see 'Grandma's boy?' It's hilarious!
One of the funniest movies of all time imo
Oh hell yeah that'd be a great one haha
Never expected to see this in the comments, grandmas boy is so underrated, it’s one of my top 5 movies
Prob the best gamer/stoner flick
Grandmas boy is very underrated.
One of the many things I love about this movie is the non-verbal (possibly even unscripted) comedic moments. Probably the best one is at 12:57 when Lumbergh suggests that Peter isn't management material and Bob looks like he's going to jump across the table and strangle him. 7:30 is another great moment where the joke itself is a little funny, but that cut to Diedrich Bader looking dead serious turns it to comedy gold.
I've never been a big fan of Beavis and Butthead or King of the Hill, but I watch this movie and think to myself: Mike Judge is a freakin genius.
Growing up, this movie and Clerks were so relatable. Watching this movie inspired me to quit one of my jobs even.
Damn never seen a reactor call the Superman 3 plan before they say it. Congrats 😂
Wait, have y'all not seen The Office!!!! ...... 😮😮😮
That HAS to be the next thing you watch. Binge it! Do it!
Don’t know if you both noticed it or not, but the scene when Peter is talking to the Bobs the white board has a big diagram titled planning to plan 😂. Gets me everytime
Stephen Root (Milton) is awesome. Sitcom called News Radio. Check out the Halloween costume episode.
22:47. Jen, Stephen Root is one of the quirkiest actors I've ever seen..He plays a blind DJ in " O Brother Wherefore Art Thou", and you swear it's not even the same person. And I applaud Milton burning that mo-fo down..Can't think of a company that deserved it more....Grrrreeaaat.
It took me quite a while before I recognized him in TURN:Washington's Spies.
Not to mention millionaire Jimmie James in NewsRadio
Him and Rhule played the lead's fathers in "Grounded for life"
@@Chuck_ELgrounded for life is an underrated gem of a show
He's also great in Barry!
Holden doesn’t realize Jen is still his supervisor. 😂
great reaction holden and jen this movie is hilarious so true of the office environment big thumbs up
This is by far my favorite comedy ever made. Cannot count how many times I've quoted this movie. Everytime someone ask me what I do for a living or what I'd do if I had a million dollars, they DEFINITELY getting this answer. So much of this movie hits for everyone that's ever worked in an office.
Honestly Milton sounds a little like Holden's voice for Boston. From now on whenever Holden makes fun of Boston I'm gonna imagine Boston mumbling "I could set the building on fire...."
Fun fact: Swingline never made a red stapler until this movie came out and people demanded them.
I love this movie!
While "Office Space" was Mike Judge's movie about the frustrations of being an employee, his later movie "Extract" was about the frustrations of being a boss.
Mike Judge made an animated short titled "Milton" which was the inspiration for "Office Space".
(fun fact) the producer, Mike, Judge, did a cameo role - he was the manager at Chatchkeys
Waiting next with Justine Long and Ryan Reynolds maybe?
You are now legally obligated to watch the office.
I hope you watch Napoleon Dynamite at some point
Saw me,myself and Irene for the first time the other day and this might be controversial but genuinely thought it was funnier than dumb and dumber
That's not controversial, it's just wrong. That movie sucks.
@@teruienages962 jeez I bet you’re fun at parties
I disagree with the comment that it’s like Ace Ventura or Dumb and Dumber. It’s definitely more similar to The Office. It’s not outrageous or gross out humor, just subtle comedy with something to say about office workplaces
This film is SCARILY Relatable.... Also Holden you got to get Jen to react to Dragon Ball and other anime
The hidden gem of the DCAMU. I mean a popular Batman voice actor is in this.
I feel like depending on your work life Office Space can either be a great comedy or a downright terrifying horror movie. Some of the cubicle life is almost downright dystopian and i think we all had fantasies of just taking the money and running.
And not a day after I just bought the red stapler for my office!
At the party, when he shows Peter his invention, lose a turn, is loose a turn. Great reaction!
Well, it’s a prototype. I’m sure they’ll get the bugs conclusively worked out, before jumping into production.
The stapler maker Swingline was inundated for requests by people for red staplers after this movie. They did not make red staplers. 😆
Omg. Can you believe that the actor who played Milton played a Klingon ship captain *K'vada on Star Trek the next generation in 1991.
I have a red Swingline stapler on my desk because of this movie. I would freak out if someone took it 😂
"I don't think that would fly today."
Of course it wouldn't, today sucks.
Holden, you should consider your own office parody short film. I have the perfect name for it, too…
“Square with an edge” :)
Mike Judge is a god among men... Let's be real.. at least a
King of dry humor
If you haven't done Idiocracy yet, PLEASE do that soon!!!
This movie is based on a animated short called "Milton" by Mike Judge...it was part of the Spike and Mike Animation Festival
Please give the Star Trek franchise a chance. 🖖🖖🏻🖖🏼🖖🏽🖖🏾🖖🏿
If you liked this then "Silicon Valley" would be a good watch
You guys gotta seriously work on your editing... So choppy.
I worked for Motorola when this movie was released. Yeah
Whenever I hear Milton say, “I’ll put strychnine in the guacamole” I’m like, Seek the Lord, brother. 😂
I fully plan on putting, “you guys clearly have never watched Office Space,” on my exit survey for my current job.
It blows my mind that you guys haven’t watched The Office. It’s one of my favorite shows of all time.
Milton is the batman of the movie. Not the hero they needed, the hero they deserved
I hate to tell you, but in the Seinfeld reunion episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, the George character got rich creating an app that uses GPS to guide you to the nearest bathroom anyplace in the world.
You gotta find the "Neo runs from Mr. Lumbergh" video
Should've released this on Monday :D
It's just too bad the Michael Bolton gag kind of flies over the head of newer audiences. If you were there in the 90s it was hands down one of the funniest things in the movie. (Words can not describe how uncool Michael Bolton was considered by everyone who wasn't a fan, it was some sort of world record).
Michael Bolton was the Taylor Swift of the 90's.
When my old boss left to move town, we got him a red swingline stapler and filled out a TPS Report cover sheet someone on the internet made based on guesswork and the couple of glimpses you see in the movie.
PC Load Letter? What the %$^^ does that mean?? 😜
Your idea is basically the idea George had in CYE Seinfeld episode lol
You can download your own TPS reports and cover sheets if you like.
Going through training after navy bootcamp we would always ask our instructors what the fleet was like. The best description we got was "office space meets down periscope"
You married your supervisor, you're my hero!
When I saw this come up on your page, I knew you would both enjoy this. One of the few movies I watch anytime I catch it on. Next time you don’t know what to watch, check out Grosse Pointe Blank, a late 90’s comedy.
Gross Pointe Blank is a great movie that many people never saw. It's so darkly funny.
This movie gets funnier every time you watch it. The wife and I watch it at least once a year.
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
This was actually based on short animations about Milton.
" and some people waste cakes " yea.... we know holden... we see it.
I was working in one of those cubicle jobs when this movie came out. My software development team would quote it all the time... it was really spot on and 100% relatable.
Yup it was during the tech bubble. Lots of useless corporations were hiring. I was getting calls at work, companies willing to pay me $1,000 to come in for an interview.
i worked in a call center for a bank.. so yeah i could relate
Subscribed for more comedy
Idiocracy is also hilarious.
6:30 - Your "skip to the loo" idea of some kind of database of public bathrooms rated by cleanliness...I had a similar idea years ago, mostly born out of necessity as I was living in Taiwan at the time and I found that the availability and cleanliness of public toilets varied wildly around the city (also some toilets were the squatting type as opposed to the sit down style - ugh). It got to the point where I learned where some of the "good" bathrooms were and if I found myself anywhere near one I'd use it even if I didn't really need to.
Appreciate yall watching this one. It’s in my top 10 comedies. Never gets old. And Jen listing some of my fav comedies here at the end. 😎. 8.5 is solid 💪
Classic movie , Milton’s character cracks me up, and you have a beautiful dog
Such a great movie! very underrated! Mike Judge is a genius, I would highly recommend his other 2 films Idiacracy (2006) and Extract (2009) also amazing movies, very underrated.
If you like comedy movies, I highly recommend Step Brothers, Talladega Nights, Bruce Almighty, Old School, and the Ted movies!
I love how he and his friends are complaining about work, and then they bug him about his TPS reports
Best part of this movie, it actually made TGIFriday's change their decor, their uniforms.... Tchotchke's is directly making fun of TGIFriday's old decor and uniform rules. They really did make their waitstall wear buttons.
How is this movie literally anything at all like Dumb and Dumber or Ace Ventura? First of all since 1994 was extremely different from 1999, and second because the humor and situations are worlds apart from that in Office Space. Floored by that comment.
Lumberg's actor is Ricky Bobby's dad in Talladega Nights
Lawrence best character. Actor is Rex Kwon Do in Napoleon Dynamite.
YES, a film like this couldn't be made today(even though this is kinda soft in the offenses) the woke people utterly KILLED comedy.....
First 2/3 of the film is great. But then he just magical becomes not hypnotized for the last act. Still really good though.
Awesome! You worked at NFCU! I’ve been working at NFCU for a few years now at HQ in Vienna, VA!! Excellent reaction to this his bonafide cult classic!
A few things about this film, first off it is based on a Mike Judge comic strip called "Milton" in which sad-sack Milton is the main character.
Mike Judge played the manager at Tchotchke's who tells Jennifer she needs more 'flair'.
About 15 years ago I was living in LA and went bowling with some neighbors and the guy who played Brian (Jennifer's overzealous co-worker)went with us, really nice guy, nothing like what he played here, lol.
Unfortunately Funko only made Pop figures for a few of the cast Peter, Joanna, Bill Lumburgh, Milton and 'Sticky Note Guy' who wasn't IN the movie but was a part of the advertising... I would live to add Raj, Micheal and the Bob's to my collection IF they made them...
Great movie. One of my favorites.
Trivia: Gary Colman aka Lumburg is now on NCIS, basically replacing Marl Harmon.
Steven Root / ...set this place on fire, has been in many TV shows and movies. For ex. No Country for Old Men.
So...I was just wondering...I imagine cubicles have fallen out of favor in recent years? (maybe not. I don't really know). I wonder what happened to the cubicle manufacturers? Did they pivot to other office furniture? Standing desks maybe?
Another Mike Judge movie "gem"....watch the movie "Idiocracy".....
Are we gonna get Justice League Dark Apokolips War.. after you watched Flashpoint Paradox, I was hoping maybe
As a kid, I found this movie **incredibly** boring. But then I became an adult and got into the job market.
"Waiting..." is the same. I worked at Cracker Barrel, and while we didn't get up to the same...Shenanigans (heh)...the comradery was the same.
Back in the 1980s I worked at a Aerospace Co. and I went through about 6 different supervisors, one of them was just like Bill Lumbergh on the looks, the way he spoke and the attitude. After working there for a little over 7 years I was laid-off. That was on a Friday, Labor Day Weekend, 1988.
Ryan Reynolds's 2000s comedy are so good, he's already a deadpool before he's one..... Just Friends is a MUST!
John McGinley that plays the younger Bob is one of my favorite character actors. He's in a lot if action movies and was a main character in Scrubs. Gary Cole that was Lumbergh was in a great series called American Gothic. For comedies, you should do O Brother where art thou, Eurotrip (probably heavy editing), Better off Dead, One Crazy Summer, Napoleon Dynamite, Beverly Hillbillies
Your “skip to the loo” idea - that was George Costanza’s idea for the “iToilet”, during the Seinfeld reunion season of “Curb your Enthusiasm”
I was a junior in high school when this came out. I had just done my first internship in a cubicle the summer before. Nice people, mind numbingly boring work. That and this movie firmly set me on a non-cubicle path. Thanks Mike judge
Mike Judge's follow up movie to this, and a lot of people are completely unaware of is "Extract" starring Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, & Ben Affleck is pretty good/funny as well. Worth a watch.
