I love this so much! I showed my husband to ask what he thought and he said “that’s pretty interesting.... looks like white noise.” 🤔🤪😂 I take it as he want that up on our walls!
Love this! So simple and yet so beautiful and big and so many ways to customize it! Just found your channel and subbed! Thank you!! I found a giant wall hanging on etsy that I love but it's so expensive and something I know I could make myself! It's hung differently than this but basically just ombre dip dyed yarn hung on wood just like this! So simple! I'm just going to need to mess around with the ombre effect! Would love to see you give it a try if there's any way I can send you a photo to see if you're interests in trying it I'd love to! I could definetly use some tips and it's a beautiful piece I bet alot of people would like! You can make it any size too, don't have to make it as big as the photo obviously!
Thanks for watching and subbing :) I'll have to add that to our list of things to try! I've seen the ombre effect and it looks awesome. You should give it a go!
I love this so much I decided to do it in my home! I'm hoping you can tell me what exact paint you used. I used behr black in a flat finish but it turned out dark navy not black
Ok, I love that you used paint! I’m making a large tapestry and have a design taped off with painters tape...and it’s been sitting like that for almost 2 months because I’m too scared to use the rit dye. The last one i made i found that the dye didn’t take very well. (Probably because you almost always have to rinse after dipping, i suppose) Did yours bleed onto the wall at all or your hands once it dried?!
Rit dye was such a fail for me! Especially with black! The paint didn’t bleed onto the walls or hands, no. I suppose time will tell with the wall tho? Good luck!!! I would love to see what you create!
What paint do you recommend? Would it matter if it was matt or silk for example I have some spare chalk paint used for furniture restoration. Love this project. Going to attempt it.
Yes! But if I had it to do all over again I would have doubled it and done two layers and jammed the cords in closer together. I love the areas that are super duper full looking!
I tried this yesterday. I think I diluted the paint too much. lt came out more of a charcoal colour and there was quite a bit of bleeding/water staining up the chord. I think I’ll try again…thankfully I bought a ton of chord!
Could you dip the cord twice so you’re not wasting it? Or perhaps use less water? I legit just eyeballed mine and it came out black with paint, but before that I tried Rit dye and it was awful. Which is why I used paint in the video.
@@MadeBetterHome What was the ratio of water to paint I tried this yesterday and all was good til the drying process since overnight color seeped down to the white part of the cord so now its pale grey not white it looks dirty. How can I prevent that from happening and is there anything I can dip the white part into now to get color out so I don’t have to throw all this out Thanks
Hmmmm, the tape helps and laying it out in the sun helped too, dries faster. But it DOES bleed a tiny bit. Maybe the cord helps? The stuff I used is linked.
I noticed in the final product that some strands are shorter than the others? I missed the part where you shortened some? I thought they were all approx 36”? In the final reveal some pieces are 3-4” shorter????
Sorry for the delay. I missed your comment some how! I didn't mention in the video (oops!) that I cut some of the strands a little shorter after i saw it hanging up, just to give it a bit of texture. That said, the strands are NOT all perfect in length and they varied by an inch or two from the get go because i wasn't perfectly precise when i cut them.
What size macrame cord (or which one from the Amazon link you provided) did you use? Sorry if you said this in the video, I had to watch without sound!
@@lucaslegz Yes! But if I had it to do all over again I would have doubled it and done two layers and jammed the cords in closer together. I love the areas that are super duper full looking!

I love this so much and want to make it as a gift for my daughter. How much cord do I need?
This is so cool, I am gonna try it! Did you use hot water with the color? Or just normal water?
Great tutorial! Thank u so much!

I’ve been wanting to do a macrame tapestry/curtain/room divider boho diy for awhile now ans this is Perfect
OH gosh you're so nice! hahahah thank you! Glad you're here!
Ooooo, that is such a good idea! I wanna see it!
I love this so much I decided to do it in my home!

I used Behr in the color Carbon! I’d love to see yours!
That's pretty cool and so simple!
Casey G. Creates thank you!
I love this piece ! I was wondering how the rope felt after being dipped in the paint? Was it stiff or still semi soft ?
not TOO stiff, but the paint areas are definitely stiffer than the plain rope.
Hi! This is so lovely! But, i wondered what kind of paint did you use? Thanks
Me too!!! 😞 acrylic??
just regular latex paint! I used a Behr paint and primer sample in the color CARBON
My kid says we are making one of these for her room!
Ugh I wanna get going on ALL the projects!!!
This is beautiful.. Can you please tell me what type of paint you used?
Interior latex paint from Home Depot!
Wow, how cool! It came out so good!
The Breanna Edit thank you!
Love it! How long did it take for the cords to dry? Did they stick together?
They didn't stick at all! I put them in the sun for a couple hours, inside probably dry over night
Beautifull😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you for watching!
I love this! What kind of paint was it?
Just regular interior latex paint
I love it
Thank you!
I love this!!!
❤️
Amaizing! How long did you cut the cords?
34” - 40” roughly. Purposely didn’t cut them the exact length so they would be varied once finished.

Thank you so much!
Is there any order that you grabbed the cord to put on? Or was it just random
Just random!
Do you have to rinse it once it’s dried ?
good job mama !
Thanks, love.
This is soo cool ♥︎♥︎♥︎
Thanks for watching!
If it true that the cord/cotton will absorb the paint better if you submerge it in a tub of warm water and vinegar, then pull it out and dip dye it?
I know it’s dry but won’t the color rub off onto wall if you don’t wash it? Maybe there’s new dye these days and it’ll be fine.
What paint do you recommend? Would it matter if it was matt or silk for example I have some spare chalk paint used for furniture restoration. Love this project. Going to attempt it.
would ordinarily use a fabric dye but if paint works it would be cheaper as sample pots are only £1
Fabric dye didn’t work for me! But I bet chalk paint would for sure!
That's cool!
for a 36 inch piece, is one roll of the macrame cord that you linked from amazon enough?
Yes! But if I had it to do all over again I would have doubled it and done two layers and jammed the cords in closer together. I love the areas that are super duper full looking!
Why my cord was so hard after dyeing, it is twisted after drying. How to make it straight again after hanging. Any idea. Thanks.
Can I find out how many threads are good for your hands side by side?
Love this Also love your overalls 😍 Where did you get them?
Target!
is the wood 36 inches or centimeters I didnt hear those specifics in the video?
How many spools of rope did you use for this project?
Were did u get true joy from
what kind of paint did you use? this is sooooo nice :)
Behr latex paint in the color carbon!
@@MadeBetterHome is it just for fabric?

I've done this twice and it happened both times! :

What type of dye colour you use?
How do you get a straight edge with your dip dye? Mine tends to bleed up
Hmmmm, the tape helps and laying it out in the sun helped too, dries faster. But it DOES bleed a tiny bit. Maybe the cord helps? The stuff I used is linked.
How could attach this to a branch that’s about 2” thick?
Jan Salhoff I would do larks head knots all the way across!

4mm! There's a link in the description box to the very one if you're interested ;)

@@lucaslegz Yes! But if I had it to do all over again I would have doubled it and done two layers and jammed the cords in closer together. I love the areas that are super duper full looking!
Can I use mixed yarn instead of macrame cord?
I think that would work great!
Hi! Can we do this with yarn? Please say yes lol
very yes!
What was the water to paint ratio you used?
about 3:1. Good luck!
Lindo!
😘
👍🏼
What size mm cord did you use? 5mm?
She used 4mm cord. It’s also in the link and shows the Amazon product when you tap the link.
You just used house paint to dye the cord?
Yes! crazy, right!? I legit could NOT get dye to make a true black. But paint and water totally did the trick!
@@MadeBetterHome what black house paint did you use?
Yes what kind of paint did u use please.?
