- Chuck the Movieguy interviews Christian Bale for the movie Batman Begins. Found in the closet in a box from my move from Portland to Pittsburgh and was not uploaded to UA-cam before. Enjoy!
I just read that when he plays an American character, he would use an American accent when doing the interviews. This is way too cool lol
Nah, it's fucking lame. Nowadays he just does a London accent, even though he's from Wales. Just a nutjob.
@@ouncy He doesn't have a London accent he has a fairly neutral English accent he's not from Wales he was just born there to English parents and has lived all over in his childhood. He's definitely not Welsh

@@Alecfisher01 No I didn't. I was born in Spain, both my parents are English, does that make me Spanish? I can't even speak Spanish. My best mate was born in Tokyo to English parents, is he Japanese? These days especially plenty of people are born in different countries to where there nationality lies. And if you're talking about Britain, plenty of English people were born in Wales, plenty of Scottish people born in England etc..

he's so dedicated that he doesn't realize he's still doing an American Accent.
Lo Cas it was intentional! He felt that playing such an iconic American character, it was only right to keep the accent in his interviews
He's a method actor so he pretty much talks like the character in the interviews

Malhar Carvalho yea there was actually a time i thought his british accent was fake LOL. This is something i know method actors do, but i was stunned how long he pulled it off for, like long after filming o.o

He doesn't really have a Welsh accent, more like Southern English.

FYI, the producers had asked Christian to use an American accent during interviews for Batman Begins because they didn't want the audience to know that Batman was being played by an Englishman. The whole idea of an 'English' actor playing an American superhero was kind of an issue back then in the early 2000s before the Superhero genre blew up.
Keep in mind this is long before people knew who Christian Bale was. Nowadays its not a big deal because he's since established himself as one of the better actors in Hollywood so he can just be himself.

today i just found out that Christian Bale talks and gives gifts to cancer patients. It's incredible how much of a great person he is. The conversations he has with the cancer patients is on UA-cam and it just made my day how nice he is.
I appreciate how passionate he is about the role. And I like the concept of the "Batman creature'".

Cool it's the American Psycho version of Christian Bale! Its amazing how Christian can change his accent around. Hearing him speak this way brings him and us Americans closer to home. But I know he's a British man.
He seems like a great guy, and at the same time a fantastic actor. He's so calm and passionate. :)
Christian Bale’s accent is American because his children come from America. But originally he was from England because he was raised there. Then later started fluctuating his accent because he later moved to United States after some midpoint time of his career.

@1foottall he does it on purpose, when he talks with an american accent in a movie he also does the interviews and promotion in american english for that movie, so he won't confuse the audience

i love how christian is so lively here and in the dark knight rises interviews he was understandably quite and reserved so i was hoping for a more enthusiastic bale for the the dark knight rises interviews but hes just as quite and reserved! what happend to him, does he not enjoy the media, press thing?
ppl were bitching about him flipping out on terminator, imagine immersing yourself in a role so much that you become the character. you ARE bruce wayne, you ARE john connor, you ARE batman (pun intended) imagine you are immersed in those roles and then someone breaks your scene when you finally get a good take
Good interview. Christian Bale (while promoting Batman Begins) did all of his interviews with an American Accent, which he does very well. BTW, he's from Wales, not England.
Begins is easily the best in the Nolan trilogy for me and my second favourite superhero film after Winter Soldier. Both near perfect films.
what i love about christian bale as batman is that when he was bruce wayne he sounded normal but as batman he sounded completely different. the previous batman actors didn't do this at all. bale is the best cause he can completely change his voice as batman so no one could tell its bruce wayne. thats a good actor. bale is the batman ever

I absolutely love Batman Begins, especially the scene where Raz burns down Bruce's house, and after the elevator collapses on the ground with Alfred and Bruce on it, Alfred says "Why do we fall........So we can learn to pick ourselves back up". Such an epic scene, love it LOVE it to death.
Outstanding English actor who had the mis fortune to be born in Wales while his English parents were travelling ... but his roots are all English as is his up bringing and accent

Mr. Christian Bale this is my favorite Bruce Wayne Batman of you that I like the best. The story is very philosophical, much more than the Dark Knight. We'll see how the next Dark Knight coming out summer 2012. doug
people don't like actors who take on roles in films that they grew up watching, like how people say that keaton was the best batman. that's probably because they grew up watching him. everyone has their own opinion, but don't hate on bale - he did a great job

You know, this was exactly what I think when I come across people arguing on youtube about who's better. In a few years time, when someone takes a new take on Batman, I probably won't like it because Bale is the only person I can see as Batman. I couldn't possibly imagine anyone else.
The Dark Knight was a film masterpiece. And Batman Begins was the mold for it. Both GREAT movies!

@1foottall Yeah he intentionally interviews with an American accent in some interviews. Not sure why. Back when the Batman franchise was just being rebooted he was still pretty unknown to the masses. Most people probably didn't know he was from the U.K., so maybe Bale thought people would get weirded out if they heard him speak in his natural voice. Don't know if that's the case anymore, though.
Well it's because Bale is something of a method actor and he keeps a hold of the accent of the character he is portraying at the time, not just during interviews but in everyday life too apparently.
