  • It's time to have another look at bike trader, this time I want to see how much my DRZ400SM is going for and the Yamaha XJ6....While doing this I discovered some 125cc bikes are now six thousand pounds!

    Your channel probably upped the value of the DR-Z400 😂 - not surprised on the 125 front! Cannot believe my bike has gone up in value since buying it aswell, shocking! It almost pays off to get a license, and sell a 125 for a cheaper 400-600cc

    When I looked for my first 125, I had a look at the 2nd hand market. Some people were trying to sell their 10k+ miles bikes for nearly the same price as if it were new 🤣

    Recently got a 2005 cg125 for 1600 quid off autotrader. Only 2500 miles, I was tempted by lexmotos etc but thought, honda parts abundant and cheap, lexmoto often no stock etc expensive. No brainer, and over 3 grand for 125, has to be brand new and honda or Yamaha for that much IMO. It's funny pulling up next to people with strange violent sounding names written on their bikes like 'penetrator' and 'mass extinction' and I'm like yep mine says Honda. 😂

    Back in 1989/1990 125cc bikes WERE UP TO £2000 NEW!!! My NEW Kawasaki AR125 was £1499, which I then traded in to buy a NEW Kawasaki GPX250R (at £2800!!!) but SIX GRAND for a 125???? FECK!
    NOTE:- IF looking for a powerful 250cc 4-stroke... Earlier GPX/ZZR250s put our around 38-42 BHP, just look at what the later Ninja 350s/400 do! Emission standards did the dirty on power! Recently I saw a rather tidy used GPX250 for around £1400, so, if you've passed your A1, mybe look for an older 250, you'll have more power as standard than a new bike, plus, it wont cost you as much on parts if you accidentally 'Dump it'... 😏👍

    Is £5000 extortionate for a new 125 (maybe)? I know I paid £1089 (otr) in 1985 for a new Yamaha DT125lc mk2.

      Similar kind of sum for the RD350LC when they came out in the early 80's, now they are like 5k plus, some jokers want more than 10k for one.
      It's the only make and model of bike that I now own for the 3rd time, never selling this one, it takes me back to being 17 again.

    The quality of Chinese bikes is improving and the legacy manufacturers need to remember what happened to the complacent uk manufacturers when the Japanese entered the market.
    Snobbery will only carry them so far. The Lexmoto LXS is a fabulous looking bike for not very much. I predict a rout in due course.

    • @6Twisted
      @6Twisted Рік тому +1

      God no. I would never touch another Lexmoto even if you paid me. I bought a 2017 Adrenaline EFI with 700 miles on it and it was literally constant problems. In 500 miles I did wheel bearings, chain and sprockets, engine temp sensor, throttle position sensor, dash, speedo, fuses, fuel lines, brittle plastics and the whole bike was rusting to bits and had seized bolts everywhere. And to top it off they discontinued the model so finding parts was difficult and expensive. Compare that to my brothers 2018 Suzuki GSX-S 125 which hasn't had a thing done to it and only has a little rust and some faded plastic.

    Hey spicy, any chance you can buy a 2stroke unregistered bike and make it road legal with a full mot (not just daytime) maybe a yz or rm or kx? It is something I would love to do but my current 2 stroke demands all my money and time so I am unable to do it.

    Lol yes the prices of some 125CC is mental, like a YZF R125 used model's with decent mileage (and overall condition) showing up as £3k, you can get a Yamaha YZF R3 for the same price! or even a Kawasaki Ninja 300! I see people are moving towards the Lexmoto bikes, although they are some mixed reviews, but the LXR and LXS do look amazing!

    Nov 23 you can buy a honda cb125f for 2700, the prices some want for older models is so close why buy 2nd hand, not sure chinese bikes are now that much cheaper to make up for lower resale and more frequent servicing. (Honda Reading).

      125cc bikes because they are the worst-treated bikes on the road. Over that nothing as you are throwing 20% away to the tax man for the pleasure. Plus so many people buy new bikes hardly ride them and sell them on within 2 years means you can get a "new" by-year bike for at least 30% off.

      its a 125 cc the police would need to dyno it, to do you for over 11kw. I use a kmx125 daily, when stopped by a police biker. he said (with a smile) "your bike goes well". I personally think as long as your not being a dick (70mph in a residential, or 130 down the local dual carriageway) they are (in my experience) ok. But then i live in the country so maybe cities are different

      Remember the insurance company have no reason to check you are legal. When they try to claim and find out what bike it is vs. licence they will not pay out, BUT they still get their money! The bigger issue is the contract you agree with them about being honest and lying to them is fraud and that is a whole lot more trouble at your door than the crash.
