Put the pipe fitting on a hinge, so it will be able to drop down when going under low bridges.
I was thinking the same
Yeah that’s a good idea for the long term - it’s no higher than our wheelbarrow being on the roof and the only bridge that’s not fit under was one in Bristol so we should be okay for a bit. I’ll look into the hinge though
Good idea security cameras but I would have put sealant under those poles for the camera to make sure no water gets into your roof
I did use a gasket but not sure how clear it was in the video, can see me peeling the tape off somewhere in there I think
Use pressure pads mats on boat to activate internal and outside alarm. At bow and stern.
Not thought of that before! Cheers
Some random unsolicited security advice … Don’t leave anything valuable on the boat … cameras, laptops or important documents. Think about an additional separate noisy alarm system, that doesn’t rely on you shouting at intruders.
Try to leave your boat next to other occupied boats.
Really important - only post videos revealing your location, once you have moved the boat somewhere else. This lessens the chance of you specifically being targeted
Great tips!
They’re looking great guys! 👏🏻 having the cctv is a big game changer so glad you’ve got it now.
Thanks for the mention too! 😊
Definitely feel much better since having them! Look forward to seeing you both again soon ❤️
Joe, I just bought two like yours, couldn't stand the pressure, LOL. Live in Vancouver, from Ferndown and Bournemouth years ago, love the channel cheers Paul.
😂😂 - ah wow that’s a bit of a change! Danni went to Uni in Bournemouth I used to love visiting!
Hi Danni and Joe. Looks like the camera will give you some peace of mind. The cameras look like a decent piece of kit. Take care. Nick
Yeah definitely helps ease anxiety especially in the big smoke!
Good evening danni and joe, love watching your vlogs, your not alone with the weird quirks ,my is after locking front door i still turn the key in the lock side to side 4 times.
Thank you!! Haha I’m glad we’re not alone 😂
Very nice I’ve got similar ones besides the the other ones on my house , and the are very good for when you are out and about you can even check when delivery companies say they delivered something when they haven’t 👍👍👍👍👍
Absolutely!! Very handy, shame we can’t get deliveries to the boat haha
I agree. Safe over sorry and they did it to the bears as well, so they had no shame ❤❤❤
Thank you!
Love you and Amy and Wes x
Aw thank you!
Very good hope its keep you and the boat safe . SEAN IRELAND 🇮🇪
Thank you Sean!
That's a good idea to put camera's up. Keeps you both safe & the boat. Thinking on of you both. Always a pleasure to watch your channel ❤
Absolutely! Thank you ☺️
Brilliant puts your mind at rest, enjoy rest of week 😊
Agreed! Thank you, you also ❤️
Glad to see your both back home to carry on with ur wee adventure,
Yes it’s good to be back!
Very interesting. Thank you😊
Thank you!
Hi, Enjoyed the video. Nice to feel safe when you're on or off your home. I have only recently subscribed so I have a bit of catching up to do.
Take care. See you soon.
Thanks for joining us!
Good stuff.
Cheers!
Consider fitting a camera outside on top of the cratch cover facing forward. This would give you great assistance for navigating the canals?????
Yeah that’s a good idea - could see around corners without having to get Danni to stand up outside on the bow or when I cruise solo
Good job
Cheers!
Good move installing the cameras Joe. I feel the same regarding boat security around London.
PS. It was me & Alfie that passed you in Sabrina.
Atb, see you again no doubt.
Cheers yeah it’s a shame but definitely worth the peace of mind.
I’m glad I caught your boat it’s a beauty!
Air horn that you can operate from your phone. Lol!
😂
They should work well, 😁👍
Fingers crossed!
Good idea but that pole is fixed what happens when you go under a low bridge? You need to hinge the pole so you can drop it.
It’s much lower than our chimney and rarely have to remove that, when we do it’s only four screws and I’ll re-attach - I’ll find a folding pole for long term use this was mainly for the demo video
Hi guys, wow those cameras are absolutely unbelievable I’m going to buy some from my house I think I’ve been having someone snooping around my place. Specially when you can talk to them and get out keep up the good work. Love your Videos cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺🧑🏾🦽
Awesome let us know how you get on with them!
New toys! 🎉😂🧸🪁🪀
More gadgets 😂😂
Hi what an exzellent bit of kit, well worth having. By the way I take 5 tsp sugar but only stir once because I don't like it sweet.😂
All the best Steve.
5! 😂😂
Danni & Joe great advice, let us know how reliable they are ?
how do you power your WiFi router ? DC or Ac power ?
Stay safe and happy boating ❤❤
We use a DC cable into USB that I got off of Amazon
Hi guys. Just a thought, I have seen you remove your chimney when you pass under the low bridges. Will the pole mount not be a problem being a permanently mounted fixture.
Love the blogs, many thanks.
We have only had one bridge which we needed to take it off for. We can always unscrew it or maybe get something that collapses 😊
We have a Swann CCTV on our house, and it's great. Just have to make sure you keep the cameras clean.
Yeah that’s a good point I’ll keep checking the stern one, the bow is under cover so shouldn’t be too bad
Mine are constantly having spiders make webs over them It's ridiculous @@DanniandJoe 🕷😅
We never leave our boat unattended over night and if we go away it goes in a marina its just not worth going away having a fab time to come back to a disaster. Even with cctv on our boat we still never leave it unattended we simply look at live feed when out and about but still close enougth to come back in a pinch. London mainly around thottenham and Victoria Park and Broadway Market are seriously to be avoided boat breaking are a nightmare there as well as nighttime towpath robbery .I would suggest mooring in a better area and always make your way to places on foot hackney is a no go its just to risky for boats
Thanks for the advise yes heard some bad things about those areas unfortunately!
There is a reason these areas are rough and I know them well.
You travel through but never stay. The reason they are rough I couldn't possibly say but I'm sure you can work it out!!
It's a shame we have to do all this.
Yeah crazy really
Hi there guys. Can I ask a couple of questions regarding those cameras as we want some ourselves but do they need to work on WiFi and if that is the case do you lea e your WiFi on then when you aren't at the boat for a few days? This is something that's been confusing me for a while as we turn our inverter off when not on boat so therefore our Internet isn't on and I wondered how any cameras then operate. Sorry for long winded questions 🤣
Hey yeah no worries at all!
So our router (similar to this - amzn.to/3MPNQrO ) we actually leave on all the time, you can get a cheap cable that plugs into USB rather than having to keep plugged into a normal socket & leaving inverter on - amzn.to/3G7azM8 (one of those adapters will fit the router)
But yeah the cameras we've got rely on WiFi but they do sell ones with their own little sim cards so no WiFi required - might be worth looking into those too!
Cheers!
@@DanniandJoe thank you so much for your helpful and detailed reply..I'm going to have a look at those links now. Thanks again 😀
I see two problems. The pole is secured and will hit every low bridge when you actually get onto real canals. You've been spoiled on the K&A with the high bridges! Normally you'd never cruise with your chimney on either 🙂
I use a pole on a mag mount, and if it hits a bridge or overhanging branch it just flips over.
Second problem is heading for London, when you should be putting distance in to keep away! My camera is great for spotting wildlife, but too be honest, it rarely gets turned on.
Where’s the fun in being afraid of enjoying the capital from the comfort of your own home knowing you can leave at any point? 😂 to be fair we’ll see how the pole gets on, if we have to fit one that fold so be it - it was literally £10 & mainly a demo of showing the camera working
Haven’t you slipped up with the pole for the stern camera? Surely it’s too high for low bridges, which means you’ll have to keep unscrewing it?👍🏻
Yeah in the long term I’ll probably need a hinged bracket or something but it’s no higher than our wheelbarrow or chimney & we’ve only had to take that off the roof once back in Bristol to be fair
@@DanniandJoeOh, OK, didn’t realise that, it just looked quite high on the video (must be camera perspective, or lack of it😂). Just thought I’d mention it. Really enjoy watching your adventures & your boat improvements. For someone so young, you have a good head on your shoulders.👍🏻👏🏻
@@kennyscouse3388 yeah I think the perspective made it look a lot taller as had a fair few worried comments! 😂 Thank you - appreciate it
@@DanniandJoe👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻
Are you worried about someone stealing your camera or solar panel for it? The 4k picture was really good, and would certainly be good enough to identify someone to the police if necessary. Good idea!
Not overly as the footage all gets sent to us so atleast we can see who stole it 😂 we just don’t have the height advantage of a house to mount them out of reach
What sim did u use for the camera
These just connect to our WiFi router on the boat but the other models do take a phone sim
Hi Joe, I have similar product mounted on aluminium tubing clamped on front of crotch A frame. The camera is about 3’ high and points toward stern, I angle it slightly down so I now get view of whole boat inc a bit of cratch cover entrance. There is a “movement setting” on the app which you can adjust sensitivity, it also has night vision which obviously isn’t quite as clear as daytime view. I have a Wi-Fi modem on boat so I can get an alarm “ping” on my phone when not on boat if someone gets close to boat, also great in winter months when it’s dark and you’re chilling inside. My only gripe with the camera is the damp wet weather can affect the vision so it’s best to occasionally give it a wipe. Good luck with it 👍🏻
Awesome thanks for the tips! Sounds like a good angle to catch the whole boat actually
Get a couple of air rifles 😮
😂😂
I know it wasn’t a serious suggestion but Uk laws about weapons, even for self defence are very strict. For the same reason, you can’t have pepper spray etc.
The solar panels are they 3 watt or 6 watt
We’ve got the 6 watts 🙂
How are you going to cope with the low bridges or is the camera pole low enough ?
I was shouting “what about low bridges” while he was drilling into the roof
As an apprentice I was always taught to not drill holes in girders etc to mount things because after many other people have done the same the structure is weakened.
If at all possible weld a bracket or plate on that you drill to mount your object
It’s much lower than our chimney and rarely have to remove that, when we do it’s only four screws and I’ll re-attach - I’ll find a folding pole for long term use this was mainly for the demo video
@brianparker5228 no girders harmed here
@DanniandJoe I understand that but the principal of drilling into a structure is the same
Thanks for sharing these cameras, I’ve just ordered 2 set ups for our nb 👍🏻 we’ll get a folding pipe to mount them on 😃

@@DanniandJoe thanks, I did see your reply to an earlier post. We’ve just ordered 2 set-ups as we’re so impressed! Many thanks 🤩👍🏻
@@jacquelinesheskey7870 Awesome! Let us know how you get on with them!
Great! Out of stock!
Aw I’m sure they will be back in stock soon enough!
Hi I'm on a new computer as mine got stolen ohh and my apple phone. I have watched from very early days. You seem to doing ok I am thinking of living on the canals vim ex seaman I miss the water n England just so expensive for housing Any advice will be appreciated thanks
Aw I’m sorry your belongings got stolen! Boats are definitely cheaper than houses in the U.K. but they do come with their quirks and chores if you’re up for it!
👍
Cheers!
Had to look up "jubilee clip", now I know. To paraphrase Steve Martin, "You Brits have a different name for everything!".
😂😂
Interesting vid, and defo a worthy addition to your narrowboat! If the cameras are anything like most of them out, you should be able to arm and disarm the cameras on command via the app. Otherside, if they're constantly armed, you'll be getting notifications in the day when you're on your boat.
Yeah I’m still getting used to the settings but I seem to be able to turn off notifications atleast
Be good if you could disguise the cameras somehow unless you'd rather it was obvious they're there to act as a deterrent.
Good idea to have them but I'd never leave valuables on board unless they're in a safe - don't tell us if you have one though, you've no idea who's watching your UA-cam content.
Yeah mainly as a deterrent / check in on the boat during the day - we never leave it overnight. It’s a shame you have to be so cautious!
@@DanniandJoe It is, life used to be you never needed to lock a door as most people had respect for other people's property & you even knew your neighbour's name......
Now everyone scuttles around ignoring their neighbours & surroundings, head down looking at their phone in one hand coffee in the other & your home has to be like Fort Knox. 😭
@@anniemac3075 my parents grew up in the 50’s & 60’s and it sounded a much simpler time!
@@DanniandJoe It was, much kinder too.
You drilled through the roof for the pole, screwed the pole, sealant for water ????
Gasket applied
looks like you used flat head screws, instead of round head so sealing under those screwheads will fail. @@DanniandJoe
Could the people who stole my camera please give me it back.
Wouldn’t be much use to anyone as they get paired to an account I think, mainly a deterrent & peace of mind whilst out during the day
Cameras about as much use as a chocolate teapot when the scum are wearing hoodies n masks
Mainly to alert us of any issues than prosecution to be fair
think hard, you have shown all the people who watches you tube cansee where your cameras are, any one who watches you tube will now know that your outfit can be jamed .i only hope the trash out there are clueless. i would have fixed the camera up without any one knowing.
