Hey Ryan! I tried to play along with the original recording and found two things: the capo has to be placed one fret forward (and so all the chords); and that the guitar has to be tunned in 432hz. Thanks for the lesson!
Music nerd here. The pitch actually has to do with the tape calibration. Some of the songs on the album like the scientist, Amsterdam, and warning sign didn’t transfer well or were already sped up from tape to CD so that’s why they sound pitched up.
@@Safetysweet that's so curious. You guys are aamzing.. I always wondered why it sounded so weird when I wanted to play over the song and it wasn't fitting at all
I could NOT figure out what the heck I was doing wrong, so thanks! I played along with Ryan and it was correct and everything he's playing sounds correct but then when I went to play with the song it was "off". Now to go Google how the hell to tune to 432hz. lol.
Thank you buddy! I wasted tons of nerves to find this original sound and even stop my attempts for couple of years and now im finally find this tutorial with this comment and its like im open the Pandora's box. Damn gratitude to you
All aboard the upside down drop d wagon! Cool tuning and makes sense. It’s been a while since we embarked on a rabbit hole trilogy……looking forward to it. Great start! Thanks Ryan.
Alright man, I just wanted to learn a song, but oh my goodness the laughs I got on the way were hilarious! Love it!! Thank you for the tutorial, it was phenomenal!
Good video. Very good explanation of chords and tunings, which is good, but for a lot of people I think it would help to explain the strumming pattern. For a beginner, strumming pattern is a lot harder than chord fingering. That's just my opinion, and I'm sure a lot of ppl would disagree. Still, a lot of useful information here and it's a very good video.
Agreed! As a recent grad from beginner to beginner-intermediate l can attest to the fact that showing a beginner how to form chords is a waste of time, as we can clearly see the finger placements. What we have no clue on is strumming pattern along with ‘time’ between strums. I always say if a beginner can’t tell what chords you’re playing, they are NEVER going to be able to get the strumming, timing or changing of the chords well enough to make it sound anything close to the song.
@@RyanLendt it can literaly take days of mild 'aftertuning' before it settles because of the weird stress in guitar, neck and strings. I keep 1 tuned only like that...just for that 1 song. Because it is worth it 😊
I literally got chills when I started playing alongside you, I really wanted to learn this song for a LONG time!
Thank you so much Ryan🥺
woo hoo! most welcome!
Absolutely love this. My 2nd fave song by my favourite band. Thank you sir. I tip my hat.

Very nice man, appreciate it!
Nice. I’ve never played anything in that tuning before

Iris googoo dolls can be in that tuning also
Great song, nice job Ryan!! Sparks by Coldplay also has this tuning I believe
To do that FM7 at the end of that song isn’t easy. I loved this vid. Thank you Ryan.

You nailed it. Thanks!
cheers!
You got in and out of this tutorial like a mack . Almost caught whiplash ,effective nonetheless! Cheers & thanks !
Hello Ryan, I noticed that in the intro Jonny slides his chord up then back down for a bit in the intro. Did you notice that?
What are the other two songs in this tuning that you have lessons for, PRETTY PLEASE?!
Thank you ❤
Can you please mention the strumming pattern I can’t seem to figure it out.
You’re amazing
aw thanks
Anyone know the other songs in this tuning. I cant find???
I use this tuning to play Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls on account of the originals tuning being severely dangerous for my guitar. (BDDDDD) 😂
@Bryan You tune the b string up to d and it is likely it will break. You can do it but I don’t fancy taking the risk. 😉
oh god. my teeth hurt thinking about that tuning.

Question what’s the strumming?
Thank you very much! 🙏🏻

The way this guy teaches is really hard to follow, with other tutorials also
First play the song then teach us.
