  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has me theorycrafting something fierce, and my thoughts naturally turn to what came before in an attempt to bring to light what comes afterwards. A crisis looms in the future of the worlds of Bionis/Mechonis and Alrest - a collapse, born of an experiment that rocked the very foundation of the universe. How did it happen? What is the state of Aionios? Why is this setting locked in such a perpetual conflict? Let's try to figure this out.

    "The Monado is a divine sword capable of disturbing the very fabric of existence. Of both the material and the immaterial." Material being real number domain interpretation and immaterial being imaginary number domain. Also “disturbing the very fabric of existence” is a very accurate descriptor of why the rifts seem to be happening. Just randomly thought about that while watching

    Wow I really like your theory about 1’s world being in the imaginary domain, very intriguing and it would make sense too especially why its an endless sea (initially) which is something never really explain.
    It also makes me wonder if Alvis will be xenoblade’s wilhelm cos unlike the other 2 processors, hes the only emotionless one and speaks in a very calm manner which is similar to wilhelm

    • @ArceusDX

      I wouldn't call Alvis emotionless, he has shown emotions like disappointment, happiness and such, he's just rather stoic.

    • @tyler9039
      @tyler9039 2 роки тому +5

      He's completely neutral because it's the base personality of the processor. Mythra and malos were given personalities due to being born as blades, which take on traits from their drivers. Alvis wasn't altered by being a blade so he stayed a computer, neutral, unbiased and stoic

      I would say "but what about the stars you can see in the sky in XB1, implying space also exists there" but then I remembered that the Xenoblade series kinda plays fast and loose with the science/technobabble (looks at Jin's SPEED OF LIGHT and ABSOLUTE ZERO)

      @@BenkaiDebussy I believe those are actually explained as balls of ether that float in the sky similar to how the bionis sun is just a big ball of ether.

      I believe that we actually see the deepest level of the Pneuma Core's "personality" when Mythra loses control in Torna's climax. That said, that's less of a personality, and more of an emotionless directive to eliminate the target. It also doesn't speak at all. Mythra does manage to get out a few words in this state, but she clearly isn't quite in full control what the rest of her body is doing.

    I do believe that Xenoblade 3 will be the equivalent of Episode VI of Perfect Works. We know almost nothing about Episode VI except that there is a fight to keep the universe from collapsing. With the Clocks and "fighting in order to love and living to fight," this seems to be Keves and Agnus fighting to keep the universe, and by extension the Collective Unconscious, from collapsing. It really goes to show how much more there is to this series if you look deeper than surface level.

    Being a Xenoblade fan is such a treat. Some got to witness its growth and progress directly from when it was an unknown game on the wii, up to now where it's one of Nintendo's heavy hitters. It's cereal to have a game run by a dev you have so much confidence in, as monolith has YET to disappoint me (I loved X as well). I still wanna experience gears and saga, but until then, I'm happy to await the soon arriving Xenoblade 3!

Also how Melia and Nia are feeding the "Flame Clock" so that reality doesn't dissolve is such an amazing narrative shift from just "two best girls fight it out". If this is the case, obviously the plot is to stop the war between Agnus and Keves as well as stopping the real enemy, but this begs one very important plot crucial question that I can’t wait to see answered, how do you stabilize the collective unconscious without anybody else loosing their lives?
    Do they find a way to calm the gnosis and send them peacefully into the collective
    Do they time travel to the beginning of the universe to prevent this from happening, hence the origin of xeno x’s sammarians?

    You pretty much put exactly into words what i've been thinking this whole time since the reveal of xb3. My biggest hope is that I think this game is going to call back all of the past xeno games. ISTG if i see square enix or bandai namco in the title screen i'm going to flip!
    What i really what to know is 2 things, The first is what was alvis's decision on what to do at the end of XB1? Alvis did suggest making another universe, Shulk refused to answer him. Did his programming automatically default to rex's (original) world knowing what the consequences would be i wonder....
    AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, where did he go? The trinity processor is gone. He would have nowhere to go "back" to. Unless.....
    POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR XB3: DO NOT ANY SCROLL ANY FURTHER, REFRESH THE VIDEO PAGE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE IT.
    He becomes this games version of the "Wave Existence"

    That's honestly such a cool theory! So maybe it's possible that the ending if Xenoblade 3 is a very depressing one where everything just dies/vanishes, considering how happy the endings of both 1 & 2 (2 in particular was such a forced happy ending imo), then maybe they were saving the sad ending fir this game lol.

    I do hope XC3 will end with the people finding some way to change that universal system. Engaging in constant warfare to uphold the existence of the universe by offering killed souls to maintain the collective unconsciousness, its a literal Ouroborous. If they can somehow find a way to create a peaceful world where constant killing isnt needed to uphold the unconsciousness, seems absolutely impossible with characters who are part of that same consciousness. Perhaps maybe even a literal godlike being (Klaus perhaps?) could be able to change the imaginary number domain, or the main party could do it somehow. Hopefully XC3 can bring in an eschaton where these things are fixed, and all can live in harmony.
    Gnosticism's solution to the world is all humans ascending the physical world along with Sophia back into the Pleroma, freeing themselves from the lower domain of the Demiurge's world. All physical matter is considered evil. Gnosticism is the foundation of Takahashi's stories, but he does not embrace it. He rejects ascension and uplifts the physical world, allowing even salvation to change the world instead of getting rid of all physicality like gnosticism suggests. This is demonstrated in Xenogears as the main characters reject ascension and remain human. The religion portrayed by the statue of the two one-winged angels in xenogears is his answer, God advents from the space between. When the duality starts working in harmony, there God brings salvation. It's more akin to Christianity since christianity sees the physical world as a beautiful blessing and almost as a sandbox game in the eschaton, where humans will fix the world and beautify it with syngeristic action with God. Cosmos is in the same root as cosmetics, the universe is a jewel.
    Perhaps XC3 or further XC games can provide a great ending for the people of their universe(s), changing it from a Ouroborous cycle of death into something truly beautiful and worth living in.

    • @Jenema2
      @Jenema2 2 роки тому +5

      I bet someone will find Zohar and they will eventually find a way to edit the universe in a more controlled way to avoid the same kind of disaster Klaus created.

    • @OvranoPhanekh
      @OvranoPhanekh 2 роки тому +2

      @@Jenema2 editing the collective unconsciousness itself may have interesting ramifications for sentient rational beings in the Xeno universe. The primoridal instincts and desires of Humanity which include the desire for freedom, creation and upholding of beauty, fear of non-being/death, could all be changed by this edit. Even the negative instincts of humanity akin to ancestral sin which include war and suicide, things that are represented by the ouroborous, all these things could be perhaps changed too. If they edit or mess with the eternal recurring origin/end of all human souls (holy shit, the collective unconsciousness itself is an Ouroborous too!), its gotta have some sort of effect on humanity's consciousness, perception, and instincts.
      This brings up for me the question if all "humans" in xeno will include the variety of biological anthropomorphic peoples like Machina and Gormotti, which Im sure their souls will affect the imaginary domain, but Im also wondering if the Nopon are part of the unconsciousness too. Does the collective contain even animals? Not sure if Xenosaga/Perfect Works explains this, I would love to know.
      Humanity in XC2 even includes the nopon, so they could possibly affect the collective too. Perhaps the Nopon could be more fleshed out in XC3 than just the cute meme characters they were in almost all the other games?

  • @BenkaiDebussy
    @BenkaiDebussy 2 роки тому +1

    I just realized that there's something else (that I don't think you mention in the video, probably because I think you released this before the longer trailer) that is also consistent with what you're saying. The ouroboros stuff with the party members sharing their consciousness - almost certainly related in some way to the idea of the "collective unconscious" appearing in the game. Hard to say exactly what the reason for that will be, though it's probably good to leave some mysteries for the plot.

  • @BenkaiDebussy
    @BenkaiDebussy 2 роки тому +1

    Huh, some other stuff we've learned about XB3 actually makes this seem quite plausible. We know that in XB3 there's something going on with people having "artificially" limited life-spans and being forced to fight/die in an endless war, with (probably) Nia/Melia being responsible for this (so we know there must be some sort of non-evil motive). Perhaps there's some sort of situation where, in order to prevent the Xenosaga-esque collapse, peoples' "souls" are prevented from naturally going to the "imaginary number domain-equivalent" (or as you mentioned "soothed" in the process, though it's not clear how the war would be necessary for that) in order to prevent this death spiral.
    So a choice of a stagnant universe over the universe ending. Kinda similar to the fundamental conflict in Xenosaga (only with stagnancy taking the place of infinite recurrence).
    Edit: The more I think about this, the more likely it seems that the core idea of it is correct.

    5:43-5:56 When I heard this, I immediately thought of Zanza escaping reality to become a god, the way he absorbs countless lives to prolongue his own, and how even with omnipotence he could perceive all things but his own death.
    Does absorbing the souls of others make your soul bigger? If XC1's pocket dimension really is in the imaginary number domain, killing Zanza could've been like setting off a bomb directly inside the imaginary number domain.

    Also, the monsters in Morytha that clung to life I actually think resemble the Gnosis-Human Hybrids that Rubedo kept on the Durandall. I think when Klaus did his experiment, what wiped out most of humanity was what usually happens when the Zohar is triggered, which is the gnosis being summoned and those humans who survived calcification and became unholy abominations were the monsters of Morytha
