    We need an Analogue Production reissue on 45 rpm

      I’d be happy with a 33rpm UHQR or Craft Small batch as long as it’s AAA

      Stop it will ya. You don’t need any overpriced repressed shit. Get an original UK press. It will never get better plus it is and will always be the first and most collectible

    I have a 1997 2nd pressing Parlophone, the 2016 XL standalone release, the 2017 OKNOTOK (blue), and 2017 OKNOTOK (boxset w/ black vinyl). The UK is the winner. I am beginning to realize that many remasters, despite how good I initially think they sound, pale in comparison to the original presses. Who would've thought that the further you get away from the original recording, the worse the results? ;) I initially thought that the 2016 45 rpm release for Amnesiac was the definitive pressing. But I recently did an AB comparison between the 45 rpm and OG 33rpm and the OG is the clear winner despite the lower speed. Far more detailed and high end is noticeably superior to the 2016 45rpm cut.
    It would be interesting for you to compare the 2000 Parlophone 'LPKIDA 1' (10") to the 2016 XL standalone release (12") of Kid A. Then just for shits and gigs, compare these to the abysmal 2021 KID A MNESIA which is a universally defective release as a result of cramming all of Kid A onto one 12" record. The inner groove distortion on How To Disappear Completely is horrendous and I am astounded that it made it to release in such a state. Truly baffling.

      Exactly, the more times it's been "remastered" or transferred and of course as time goes by the age on the tapes. Let me see what I can dig up on the Kid A...

      Hello, the 2nd dry cleaner you are talking about is that of 98 UK? Is there a difference with the 97 version? (Because the price is double)

    • @chrisg769
      @chrisg769 4 місяці тому +1

      @@tubinonyou Thank you! The 2007 version uses the same plates as the OG so I will be surprised that this is not the case for the recovery of 98. In addition, it seems that these are the same matrices as the original.

    • @chrisg769
      @chrisg769 4 місяці тому

      if I understand, 97_2007 Parlophone have the same sound?

    • @tubinonyou
      @tubinonyou 4 місяці тому +1

      @@chrisg769 I don't know if I'd go that far. I used to own a later Parlophone that I was not in love with. When XL acquired the rights to Radiohead's catalogue in 2016, they began by shipping leftover Capitol and Parlophone products. For Ok Computer, I ended up with Parlophone records inside a Capitol jacket. The sound on that record was thin and surface noise was abundant. HOWEVER, that was likely the 2015 MPO pressing which is my second least favorite pressing of OKC.
      Looking at discogs, it appears that the 2007 uses the original EMI DMM copper plates, so that's probably the best place to start. Looks like there's a copy available for $65 at time of writing which is far more reasonable than the asking price for OG. So, that's a long-winded way of saying that, in theory, the 2007 Parlophone should hold up to the OG. I'm still not comfortable stating that they would be "identical" in terms of audio fidelity but the reviews appear positive.

    I was always wondering if there were a channel out there that viably compares vinyl pressings and their sound quality, glad to find you!

    I have both but have never really compared. Thought both sounded pretty good independently. Both of these have digital in the chain right?
    I’m wondering if it was mastering choices by band and/or mastering engineer for the differences.
    I also have OG Kid A and the 2016, which I thought the latter sounded better off initial comparison.
    The only duds in the catalog ti me were the Capitol Vault releases.
    Thanks for the video and comparison review!

    • @hi-fidelityrecords
      @hi-fidelityrecords  Рік тому +1

      Good question on the digital in the chain. I think a lot of it was recorded to tape and then possibly bounced down into digital for some things and then mastered through an analog board. That’s my best guess from all the interviews I’ve read.
      I definitely want to do a Kid A soon because now you have me intrigued 🤔

    Is the original 97 the "promo"? Because on discogs, it is the only UK moose; the other being the "worldwide" version. Which of the 2 are you talking about? What is the UK 2013 version worth compared to the Oknotok?

  • @JeffersonDD
    @JeffersonDD Рік тому +1

    It’s almost ALWAYS the OG / UK 😜
    However the box set has that cassette tape and small slice of 1/2” tape, so there’s that!!
