  • In this video we show you how to get the best results using our Leather Re-Colouring Balm. The Re-colouring Balm is one of our most popular products and the results speak for themselves! This product is an ideal leather balm for restoring colour to faded and scratched leather.
    Want information on our Re-Colouring Balm? Read Below -
    The Leather Re-Colouring Balm restores the colour and characteristics of all absorbent leather items both old and new. There are 16 colours formulated for use on leather from a dark to light shade.
    It works great for restoring the colour back to any leather item which may have suffered from colour fading due to exposure to sunlight or direct heat, worn, minor damage and/or slight cracking. It works great on dried out leather too. The Leather Re-Colouring Balm works by soaking into the leather, keeping the surface soft, supple and durable, and will not rub off onto your clothes.
    Simply reinstates the colour with only one application! Additional applications can be applied in order to reach your desired colour. With use, the leather will fade again but this can be reduced by using the Leather Protection Cream. The Leather Re-Colouring Balm is generally re-applied once every three years.

    My sofas and foot stool were very faded and blemished (all types of stains, sunlight…) also lots of scratches… the colour (camel) came back but they are still blemished, stained (some stains did come out) and can see the scratches.
    Used the degreaser on the stains I thought they could be from grease (hard to say…) and cleaned twice with the ultra clean. Then the colour balm and then the protection cream.
    Overall they are a bit better but I guess many years of children and a cat and no proper care for the leather have made it too hard to do any better.

    How many coats do you do before buffing please? And how long does colour have to be on before you buff thanks xx

    • @FurnitureClinic
      @FurnitureClinic  Місяць тому +1

      Hi, you buff the leather once you achieved the level of colour required. The balm gets darker and richer the more coats that are absorbed into the leather. You then leave the balm to fully absorb for around 10 minutes before buffing off the excess.

    I bought this and originally my couch is a more shiny leather rather than Matte. And the problem is that this gives a matte finish. How can I restore it and make it more shiny?

    I have a small cat scratch that I want to repair with this. But if I only apply it to the scratched area, it's going to leave a noticeable different colored spot. Which means I'd have to do the entire seat, which means I'd have to do the whole couch. Which means I'd have to do the love seat as well if I really wanted everything to match? Is there not a simpler way to just patch a small scratch without risking the color distortion?

      Hi Mike,
      If you have a fully absorbent leather, it should be possible to apply just a small amount of balm to the affected area, which will then absorb into the leather to match in the lighter, scratched area.

    Will this product work on Faux leather? I have a swatch resistant fabric, very leather like, which faded in the sun from positioning near a window with sun exposure. I would like to restore the top and back since now in a different home the back of the sofa is exposed.

      Hi, to recolour faux leather you will need a Colourant Kit, www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/leather-colourant-kit-1
      Unfortunately, the balm won't be the right product for the job.

    I recolored my sofa, I've left it to dry for three days, but the color is rubbing off. Can you suggest what I can put on top to stop this?

    • @FurnitureClinic
      @FurnitureClinic  2 роки тому

      Hi, The most common reason why the Re-Colouring Balm will be coming off is that your leather is non-absorbent. The balm just sits on top of this type of leather as it isn't able to absorb into it; as soon as something damp touches it, the balm will rewet and wipe away. We always recommend testing the absorbency of your leather by applying a drop of water and checking that it soaks in. Feel free to contact us directly for any help or advice.

      I am having the same issue. A drop off water will absorb into my leather, but when I apply the protection cream the rag turns completely brown, the color of the balm.

      @@leslienelson4581 Hi, the balm will work on any absorbent leather. You can easily test this yourself by putting a drop of water onto the leather and waiting five seconds to see whether or not it soaks in. If the leather is absorbent, the water will soak in and darken the leather (don't worry, it'll dry back to normal pretty quickly); if the leather isn't absorbent then the water will bead up on the surface.

      Hi,
      Can I please ask if you performed the water test before applying the balm?
      If you drop water on the sofa and it soaks in within 5 seconds, then the balm will be able to absorb. If it beads on the surface then your leather is non absorbent and you will need to use a Leather Repair Paint or Leather Colourant Kit.

    Is the product suitable for all leather types ???

    • @FurnitureClinic
      @FurnitureClinic  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, this works on all leather types but the area must be absorbent in order for the balm to soak in. You can easily check this by putting a drop of water onto the leather to see whether it soaks in. We also have products for non-absorbent leather, so are sure to have something suitable whatever the outcome.
