Okay, importing images as planes assumes your object will have 4 sides. So, you will need to create a circle shaped mesh first and then uv unwrap it and apply the image texture to it. Give me about 10-15 minutes and I will try to make quick tut for you. Okay, this will explain how to apply the round rug texture to a round object. ua-cam.com/video/mglrQaSQbww/v-deo.html
I watched a video liked yours and the person did things like you but a thing that was noticed was he made all the hairs go to the top of the object so he could use less hairs to fill area. My question is do you know how to section off a material for a section of the floor?
If you only want part of an object to have hair particles or to have a certain type, you need to create vertex groups of those faces and then select that vertex group in the field weights of the emitter settings. I don't have a tut for that but here is a tut created by someone else. ua-cam.com/video/oPenYcM6Usw/v-deo.html
fbx and obj are not image formats, they are 3d mesh files. Blender does have an export function that allows you to export your scene as an fbx or obj, but I have never used it. The export is under the file drop down menu. I have no idea if it will work for something like this.
When I export this carpet in a GLB file I only get the plane with image. The hairs are not shown in the 3D model? How can I include the hairs into my 3D model? Thank you!
looks good but I have one sloghtly off topic question why space-themed scifi movies don't show many rockets ??? afterall if there's a construction in space is there has to be a way to transport the components to the construction . so why that isn't shown ???
Because in a sufficiently advance space faring society, they would be employing anti-gravity propulsion and the need for liquid fuel would be for the most part eliminated.
@@BlenderRookie so what about the space ships ??? if those used the distortion of spacetime than No thrusters would be needed , and the shape of the spaceships would also be differend
@@xrdevelopment2133 I don't know. I have never used anything other than Blender so I have never needed to export something from Blender to another program. The closest to it is appending an object from one blend file into another project. I do know there is an export function. But I have never used it.
I have a circle rug but when Import it the way you do it creates a square and the hair goes outside the circle how do I fix that?

@@BlenderRookie thank you so much
@@uhpeng You are welcome.
"Obviously we don't have enough hairs"... that really hit home for me., as an aging male. :) Great tut by the way!
Dude, have you ever seen my bald head? LOL I feel ya.
@@BlenderRookie haha no I have not. Keep up the good work. Loved the way you explained all of it and the detail of each setting.
thanks for making this it really helpful

awesome tutorial, thank you so so much!

Thank for useful tutorial

if would be nice if you said the keys so one can follow you and learn....for example; Scale....what mode and keys are used to do that?
S = Scale
G = Grab
R - Rotate
Hi. Can u say how to export this rug with hair ?
I have never used the export function. I really don't know anything about it.
Thanks Brother, you are Awesome, man!! :)
Cool beans.
Eevee works dandy with hair, you just need to change the scene hair setting to strip and you are good to go.
I have never heard of that setting. But I will look into it. Thanks.
like it!
Thanks.
Anyone knows how to export this work? I cant get the image in the fbx/obj file right

How do you save this and export it out as a .DAE file? it doesn't seem to retain any of the hair details for Second Life?
I have never used the export function and I know nothing about it.
this is exactly what i wanted to know, if you export as a mesh it just loads in a flat picture
When I export this carpet in a GLB file I only get the plane with image. The hairs are not shown in the 3D model? How can I include the hairs into my 3D model? Thank you!
I know nothing about how exporting works. My guess is there would be no way to export it with hairs.
i have this problem too
how do i export it to unity
I have no idea. I have never used another program like Unity and therefore, I have never needed to export.

I have no idea what fbx is.

Hey :) when I try to render using cycles it doesn't show the hair :/ does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you
That's weird... In the carpet particle settings(very top), you do have both the monitor and render icons activated?
@@BlenderRookie I just closed blender then reopened it and it worked! Always some wee niggle here and there lol thanks anyway :)
@@robyncabrie9288 LOL Yeah, Blender is like a router in that way. Unplug and restart.
@@BlenderRookie Yeah I think the first response for anyone’s issue should be “have you tried turning it off and on again?” Lol
Does this work in Eevee? I don't have much of GPU to work with the lag :(
cycles lag*
I don't think the hair color is inherited from the texture in eevee.
@@BlenderRookie noted. Lets see how far i can work with cycles :)
@@nickmuffin1722 I seldom use Eevee. I find it hard to work with. Sure, cycles takes longer in most cases, but Eevee doesn't work for everything.
@@BlenderRookie doesn't work for anything? Can you please elaborate? 😅 I'm quiet new. Really appreciate your replies tho, thank you!
