Today, she has found a safe haven in a community of converts whom she shares a special bond with.
‘This is Us' is a video series that celebrates people in Singapore who have charted journeys off the beaten path. May our stories inspire you to put your best foot forward, wherever you are and wherever you’re headed.

As a European Muslim, I completely sympathize with her. May Allah bless her and watch over her.

Islam has been practiced in China since the 7th century. The Chinese were muslims first before the Malays. Islam came to the Malays in 12th century. China is estimated to have 28 million muslims, even more than the muslims of both Malaysia and Singapore combined. Peace.

Such a beautiful story. Glad that Eunice found her own little community. I also have a Chinese ex colleague who converted to Muslim and she's living a beautiful life right now.

Dear sister, I feel the pain you are going through as I find myself in a similar shoes with my parents. I found answers (to the truth which I was seeking for all these years) when I read the Quran and happiness in Islam having tried out Christianity, Buddhism and Taoism. However my parents still do not accept it, and started making a lot of discriminatory (and bias) remarks about Islam and saying it is not a religion for Chinese. Yet ironically, my parents don't practice or have strong beliefs in any religion.

MasyaAllah! As a Malay Muslim, I always wanted to be friends with Muslims with other races. Not saying I dislike my own race, but why not venture out. Islam is for everyone. Many of my students unfortunately when it comes to non-muslims, it is the chinese or indians. They are very young but are always reminded when in Islam, you can have any background of race. Does not matter because in the end, we belong to Him.

Chines is a race. Islam is a religion. There are more chinese muslims in China then malay muslims in Singapore. Wonder why people are shocked to see a chinese muslim in Singapore. Even chinese Admiral Zheng He was a born muslim. Islam is for all mankind. Not just for malays and arabs..

I am a Chinese Muslim myself and I am thankful that my family were more accepting of my faith more that 37 years ago. There were a lot of stigma during that time when I was a new convert but fortunately I overcame all that with my love for the religion. With God's will we shall overcome all difficulties. InSha' Allah

All religions teaches us that earth is not our real home,we are just temporary visitors for 80 or 90 years max.People who understand their religion will not kill or despise others for their race, religion or nationality. We are all in the same boat.🙂

So heartwarming ❤ grateful to live in SG where majority of people learn to accept and live alongside people of different faiths and ethnicities. Breaks my heart to hear of how Muslims are still perceived negatively in other countries... not to mention the systemic persecution of native-muslims in some parts of the world (such as Rohingyas in Myanmar, Uyghurs in Xinjiang and muslims in some states in India).
