I pressed L1 too many times in dark souls thinking that it is to block. And then in bloodborne i keep on wasting my blood vials by pressing triangle thinking that would change the trick weapon.
I've beaten this game numourous times already, but I just sat through this video because I love the world of Bloodborne. It's horrifically beautiful and despite being filled with monsters and death, I never want to leave it
Yes, exactly! I've always wanted to play this game because the atmosphere is so unique and memorizing, but, I've been worried on how to approach it because I've never played a game from the developers. Hopefully I'll be there one playing it instead of just watching others play it.
Hahaha, that is exactly me too. Bought a PS4 Pro last month. Never played any of the souls games. Now I'm stuck on the 2nd lamp, after like 10 tries. My only complain from this game is the fps. 30fps on such a high paced game?? Makes me dizzy after a while...
No need to put items like Blood Vials or Gunslinger Bullets into Storage. If you hit the cap while you're out and about, the excess ones you find automatically go to storage. If you die or return to the Hunter's Dream while not at the maximum for Blood Vials or Gunslinger Bullets, they will be taken from your Storage automatically so that you are carrying 20 of each (unless you do not have enough in Storage to reach 20).
THIS! also enemy's keep dropping items no matter what, farmed/bought enough crap to have my storage box maxed out so i don't have to worry anymore and drops are still going even on upgrade material. don`t know but right now this game feels a lot easier than even dks2, you don't have to worry about penalty's for dying no hollowing no loss of humanity, you have 20 scalable healing items from the the beginning of the game and you can farm upgrade material to your hearts desire without running out of spawns. no soul memory to keep players from ganking low level players... also all weapons seem to be available at the shop. most forgiving game yet.....
Pedda ZZ it isn't shit, it's a great way to remind players that they need to focus on the attacks of the enemies over most other things, for instance you wouldn't focus much on the attacks if you knew they weren't going to fuck up your shit, it forces you to get better at memorizing move sets and patterns.
559KING I played dark souls 1 for over 200 hours and beat it several times before playing bloodborne and I was stuck at the second lamp for over 3 hours too. Just keep playing and make a conscious effort to see what is achieving you victory and what is causing you death. Your opponent's may seem to attack with seemingly random attacks, but they really just choose from a set of attacks that they have, if you can learn and pay attention to the tells or telegraphs of every attack then you can anticipate the attack and dodge appropriately, position yourself favorably, and respond with your own attack. Or maybe just dodge effectively to survive an encounter long enough for an opening and opportunity to attack. Bloodborne is a much more aggressive souls game, but don't hesitate to sometimes play a little more conservatively to familiarize yourself with enemies, attacks, and dodging until you feel comfortable and confident enough to play aggressively and annihilate the enemies before you. And most of all you'll feel like you really earned your victory, because you did it with all odds stacked against you and exclusively with your own skill. Learning how to parrry effectively isn't required, but is also a great skill to master. Find out what works for you best and don't give up, you will inevitably succeed!
Thanks, I definitely will try and be patient and learn from my mistakes. Been looking up lots of noob guides to this game that seem helpful. Now I must apply everything I learned to the actual game. Cheers
zrunne I'm at the third boss now wich it like the 6th lamp. Farming is important at the the early levels so don't rush. Practice your dodging and what not with easy enemies. The playing style is aggressive you'll get used to it eventually.
I literally just picked this up. Very late to the party I know but better late than never right?!? Loving it so far, the atmosphere is unreal, sounds and music (or at times lack there of) are spine chilling and engaging. I'm only a handful of hours in but am finally getting to play this gem after way to long of a wait!
It’s the best game ever made. I am playing through the Witcher 3 for the first time since they got the PS5 update and while it is a good game it never should have won GotY over this
Elden ring was also my first souls game, absolutely loved it. Never owned a Sony console until 3 days ago and this is the first game I wanted to play on my new PS5
Also check out Dangitjm, he has a really good guide about how to make effective builds. And a personal nugget of advice, really really prioritize your health while leveling up. Damage increases from leveling strength and skill are really insignificant until you start using bloodgems in your weapons.
Bro this video is exactly how beginner vids need to be. Informative but not too much whilst still load bearing. Fantastic and I love the not sleeping on vaati bit. Earned a sub easy
Exactly! All other "beginner" videos are like "Ok welcome to this beginners video, so I recommend you to go to upper yarham cathedral section 4 and look for the frenzied deformed monster which drops this weird ass item that helps you to improve your arcane stat for later level 5 enemies..." Bitch WTF are you talking about? Tell me what the fucking buttons do in this game since there is no fucking tutorial! WTF is an arcane? Where did my items go?
@@krisbrooks4510 toss pungent blood cocktails in the corner and he'll be attracted to it giving you time to attack it make sure you're using fire paper too. I can also help if you still need it and are on PS4.
Lennic Oroboro released a short video about the stats and caps. This time around the numbers aren't complicated and so its mostly just hitting the caps for the stats you use. In his video there are just 3 main types of Trick Weapon builds.
This video was soothing as fuck! Great voice + background music. Good to see a gaming channel that isn't yelling and gimmicky. OP, you ever consider doing videos on other subject matter?
Literally one of the best guides on any game, especially one as complex as Bloodborne. Well laid out, and perfectly described. Not to mention you’ve got a radio voice. This is a MUST HAVE guide to learn one of the most complex games I’ve ever played.
I’m playing Bloodborne for the first time in November 2023. I’m not a good souls player even though I got all achievements in Elden Ring and Lies of P. I got to the end with a tiny bit of skill and a lot of luck! Love this guy’s videos so satisfying to watch. He’s helping me do a lot of learning!!
It was actually very helpful, thanks. I had never played dark souls game before, so thanks a lot! The game is not very clear with these different mechanics.
+malik Traylor keep one weapon you like, and stick with it, learn all the different combos with it, and when to use which one against the ennemies. use the health regain system as much as possible to save blood vials!
Did you find yourself enjoying Bloodborne more by any chance? because coming back to it after a one year hiatus, I've certain been liking it more than Elden Ring even though I'm at journey 5.
Jason Goldhammer I think we can safely say that the ranking for best waifu in the series including Bloodborne is: 1.- Maiden in Black 2.- Bloodborne Doll 3.- Emerald Herald
Muu Duu Emerald Herald was the NPC you leveled up at in Dark Souls II (A Female NPC) and he's saying that the leveling up NPC in Bloodborne (The doll female) is hotter.
Unite my UK brothers and sisters. Do not be tempted by streams, do not be led astray by let's plays. Remain pure until Friday so that we may all suffer this game in purity. Also wtf is it out on Friday :(
Strapped Sunshine yeah it’s really something else. So far, the best games I’ve played are: 1. BioShock Infinite (gameplay isn’t as good as the first, but the story and characters are absolutely amazing) 2. Bioshock 1(Wonderful gameplay and commentary on gaming) 3. Bloodborne 4. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 5. The Last of Us
I'm currently playing Detroit: Become Human, which is a MASTERPEICE, but I think I will get bloodborne next since it is on PSnow. Anyone can recommend me some other games on PSNow?
@@crazybabuskaman3923 Detroit: Become Human is a really neat game, I enjoy it! Definitely still go for Bloodborne, waaaay different game than Detroit but I think you’ll really love it. God of War (the new remake) is really good and on PSN, same with the FFVII Remake. If I had to recommend a third game, I’d recommend Bloodborne again.
I am getting into the souls - like genre very late, and i have had some problems lately, but this video helped me with everything i needed to know. Thank you so much! Even after 7 years, this video can help a lots of people.
@@MeetPolito_Deck4Ops Horizon Forbidden West came into it, so taking a little bit of time off of Bloodborne, and after HFW probably going to finish it finally. :D
@@loafofbread481 I haven’t continued with it for a few months. I plan on going back though. I made it all the way to “Vicar Amelia”, but haven’t beat her yet. I feel I’m doing pretty good, I’ve beat some optional bosses including “Blood-Starved beast” and “Watchdog of the old Lords” in a chalice dungeon. Edit: I beat Vicar Amelia!
Just started playing today and felt pretty overwhelmed, this was really helpful! This is my first fromsoft game and I was so worried I would simply be too bad at it from the get go, so it's really nice to see emphasis being put on the learning aspect :) I'll keep practicing, then.
good luck!! im just finishing up ds3 after beating demons souls, ds1 and ds2. i was sucking at elden ring so thought id go back and learn those games first. after ds3 ill do bloodborne, sekiro and then elden ring. maybe squeeze some nioh in there i hear its soulslike.
@The Porkchop Express That's funny because I'm here after putting 1k hours into elden ring and never touching another souls before. Bloodborne is while I wait for Shadow of the Erdtree.
Did I buy bloodborne on sale after playing through dark souls 3, 5 years after it came out? Yes. Am I watching this and a lot of other videos on it now? Yes. Am I enjoying myself? Definitely.
Elden Ring is my first From Soft game and it is really making me want to try Bloodborne. This channel has turned me into a Souls fan, even though I have never played any Souls games lol
The game is great, I would say it can feel harder than elden ring, especially since like the other souls games at some points you HAVE to kill a boss, and there is no other progression to make, unlike elden ring. Definitely try it, just remember to have patience and persistence
OMG I was grinning like a little child when he did the gesture and the Doll/Maiden clapped! She actually reacted to it! I couldn't believe it. It's such a small detail, but it adds a whole new layer of life to the NPCs.
I plan on getting a PS4 for this game. As a member of the PC master race, it will be painful. But as a Souls fan, it is my moral obligation to get Bloodborne.
I love how fair this game feels. Failing is a learning experience, and even if you lose something "permanently", you can still get it back some other way. I'm not a great player, but managed to beat Bloodborne, so I guess anyone can do it, if they're willing to.
I first played one of their games when I bought elden ring. You made a great point about just learning from your mistakes and investing in your character to simply get better at the game. You get to really make this experience for yourself. This is what I love about their games.
+AwesomeTyme I bought it when it came out and couldn't get into it. Just a few days ago I started it up again and I love it. Its a bitch in the beginning but just stick with it and you may really dig it.
Once you experience all its flaws, and figure out how to overcome them, you sort of learn to appreciate the game in its entirety. That's what I call bootiful.
+AwesomeTyme Game is brutal to start but once you can grind and level, buy gear and weapons i gets a lot easier. Get past the Cleric Beast and then you'll be crusin till you have to fight a hunter lol. Some tips I can give is don't be afraid to fight bosses coop and use a bell to get AI or player assistance.
Thank you so much for this. I have been watching your Bloodborne videos for a couple of months before actually trying it out. This one really made me subscribe. Not only is this my first From Software game, its my first video game. Ever. I cannot defeat the first Scourge Beast to literally save my life!!!
Yeah im not getting this game, im getting the xbox one derivative, SaltyBorne. Its just as good, only there's no gameplay or multiplayer, just tears and feels.
robertc6898 2nd playthroughs and up i agree are easy. But first playthroughs (when we fall for half of the god damn ambushes and waste our upgrade materials on subpar gear) are always a royal painful bitch to play.
Great introduction. You literally sold me on buying this game. You really put together a strong and comprehensive video. One of the very best that I’ve seen.
Thanks. I didn't know how complex this game really is I wanted to know a simple guide and this one was perfect this is my first fromsoftware game and this guide allows me to know what I'm doing The second I start my adventure.
Bro I started the game got killed by the werewolf at the start, went to the hunters dream to get my weapons and I didn’t know what else to do so I just teleported back to the clinic but I can’t equip my weapons, do I have to do something else first?
I normally dont comment but I am absolutely mesmerized with the narration. Beautiful voice and manner of speaking, very smooth., elegant and clear. I haven't played it yet but I am about too. Im frightened and tensed already just with my real life and then playing Bloodborne gives me anxiety. But this guide made me feel relaxed and kept my focus. I hate other vloggers who go crazy uncontrolled in videos they look silly. Then they end up talking about themselves, I lose interest and X out rightaway. I LOVE this video.
Welcome to bloodborne haha. Speaking as someone who has beaten the game a few times, don't let Gascoigne discourage you. Push through, learn his moves, practice riposting. You can only get better with practice. And once you do beat him, you will get a rush like nothing else.
Good plan. Its always a good idea to open shortcuts of you can. I'm not gonna spoil it for you, as you said you don't like them, but that game is full of shortcuts. Use them to your advantage. And yeah, that game punishes you, but also if you go into it expecting dark souls, you won't have a good time. It is from the same creator and has many of the same mechanics, but this game is about constant movement and dashing and being quick on your feet. you never want to be standing still waiting for your opponent. Be aggressive. it was Gascoigne who taught me that my first time through the game.
Vince Elder Yeah me, i was about to learn the finishing moves like L2+R1 thats what i just needed to know i just defeated the Cleric Beast. Thanks to all this information😀😀
We've all been there, first time I played this game I dropped it when I got to blood starved beast, then came back after playing Dark Souls 3 and loved it.
That's not what type of game it is. Most games treat you like a baby, and don't think of this game like it's dropping you in and leaving you for dead. This game trusts you to be able to figure it out yourself with a little patience. But this video is helping my friend a lot who just bought the game.
giving you basic instructions on how to play the game should not be part of the game itself, theyre just cheap for not including an instruction booklet, or at least a page that tells u what the buttons do, instead of the messengers telling u , its not necessary just annoying
My biggest struggle in blood borne starting is that I can’t keep dying and getting better like a normal souls game. You lose all your bloodvials because they’re consumables which confuses me. I don’t like how you can’t keep farming an area for them honestly but it’s just the game telling me to get good lol. I think I will get better it’s just so different than other souls games lol
Just played this game for around 2 hours on my pc and it was so amazing and fantastic. The atmosphere this game creates is just amazing and the parry system with gun is just so good. Defeated cleric beast looking forward to more. I played on pc through shadps4 if anyone is wondering.
I’d really like to be good at this game but I just can’t do it. I panic and get frustrated after I get sent back all the way to central yarnham from dying to an enemy
learn the beast and enemies patterns so you know what’s coming, and also stay one step ahead of enemies because death will be on step ahead of you. Good hunting.
The way to beat games like this is not by "getting good" but by recognizing that the game is about learning. You don't focus just on the mechanics but on controlling the battle and making the environment work for you. Force the enemies to fight on your terms and never give them a chance to hurt you. Eventually you will start being more confident and you will understand when to attack, to run away, to bait out attacks. You don't need to worry because these games are not about being good, just about surviving long enough to win.
Don't give up! You'll realise after a while that players who beat this game aren't necessarily more skilled or have better reflexes than you. You already know your mistake - panic and frustration. One of the mental things that helps me with this is as follows. 1. Have the frame of mind that ANYONE can kill you, because they can. If it were real life, any dude on the street with a knife or gun could take you out even if you were some elite commando bristling with weaponry and martial skills. Approach every single stupid useless-looking crow or townsfolk with the same mindset - this dude will kill me if I'm not careful, or at least fuck me up so bad that I need to waste Blood Vials or head back to the Dream. I've been killed by the spindly soot monster in ONE combo in Cathedral Ward before because I wasn't paying attention to where I was and backed into a corner by accident. 2. Stoicism. Accept that dying happens. A lot. Accept that no matter how may times you die, you can farm your items back, you can level up, etc. It will make dangerous situations less panicky because you aren't anticipating the frustration of death in the middle of a fight. It especially happens when you're about to kill a boss that has already killed you a lot of times. His HP bar is low, and you're excited that you can finally kick his ass, but you also get huge nerves and worry that you might fuck it up again. So just accept that shit happens, you have to move on, and you CAN move on. Just like real life with your career goals and sports competitions and stuff. 3. Retroactive learning. Like the narrator said, think about how the guy who killed you managed to do it, and what you're gonna do about it next time round. Lots of the enemies only have a few attacks, and knowing what they are can let you blaze past them easily (but never forget rule #1 though). And the game does reward thinking - if you figure out how to avoid the main attack of an enemy, the counter is right there waiting for you to execute. 4. Figure out what the game wants you to do. Unlike Dark Souls, where you stay far away, hide behind your shield, and pick your moments to attack, Bloodborne is the opposite, where the Regain mechanic rewards close-up brawling. Fighting in that style will serve you MUCH better. I don't know how much boxing you watch, but don't be Muhammad Ali, dancing on the outside and popping that jab. Be Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, fighting inside your opponent's arms and savaging his midsection with multiple blows. The game rewards that fighting style by tailoring a lot of the enemies to be strong against the opposite. Father Gascoigne is an easy, early example. If you stay far away, he shoots you or attacks real quick in beast mode. Staying near to him, getting behind him, and smacking him makes the fight MUCH easier.
1. KNOW HOW TO DODGE AND COUNTER, you will never beat the first area if you can't doge attacks correctly and know when and when not to attack. 2. Know The Build you want to be before you actually start playing the game.(This will help you achive your build a lot faster and will make sure you don't waste levels on things you don't need. 3. Always be stocked on Blood Vials and Bullets. If you run out of either spend a bit of your time grinding blood echoes so you can purchase some at the messanger shop. 4. Know what your next move is. (This goes for two different ways, know what your next attack is such as knowing when to do a light attack and a heavy attack. It also can mean that you should know what you're going to do next weather your going to work towards your next boss, to farm echoes, ect.) 5. NEVER underestimate or overestimate any enime, weather it's a enime such as a crow or a giant guy with a sledge hammer. If you hit your shots right you can kill anything no matter the level difference, so can the enime though. 6. Learn how to stagger/viceral attack, it can kill very strong enimies or even bosses really fast. So far in the game there are three ways to stagger an enime, one by holding your power attack to it's max strengh and hit the target in the back with your light attack (only works with onehanded weapons.) Two shooting an enime right before they make a light attack.(This will stagger them, then with a one handed weapon go infront of them and attack them with your light attack). And three dumb luck, sometimes if you attack an enime right before they do it will stagger them allowing you to do a viceral attack. 7. Don't be emotional. please, just don't get emotional towards anything in the game, it will just ruin the expierence. 8. Don't Rush, only advance to the next area if you are a high enough level to where you can kill the enimies in that area easily, not doing this will make the game much harder. 9. DON'T RELY ON THE BECCONING BELL! if you can't beat a boss on your own then your not ready for the area it unlocks, the only time you should use the becconing bell is when your 100% certian that you know you can beat it on your own but you just don't want to go through all the trouble of killing it yourself. 10. GOLDEN RULE!!! Stick to Dat Booty. Yes, it's true when fighting a boss or a larger enime stick behind them and try to viceral attack as much as you can, do this by countering, when they do a heavy attack doge behind them and do a charged heavy strike, then do a viceral attack. This will kill most large enimes and dammage bosses a lot. Please ignore any spelling errors, its 1 Am ok.
i just had a ps4 given to me as a gift, immediately picked up bloodbourne yesterday and starting to go through it. played all the other souls games and just got off a 3 month bender on Elden Ring. Excited to go through this classic everybody always praised so highly. Thanks for leaving up the old videos from years ago.
I started this game today and the alleyway with 20 guys was so hard for me to beat and I had no idea how to do it but after 2 hours of learning it I killed all of them and I fell in love with the game, this game is a gem I know I will always love
Thank you, thank you, and thank you once more. Tried Souls 3 awhile ago and just knew it wasn't my type of game. Knew this was different though, but after getting close to the edge of giving the game up, I finally found this video. After 10 minutes of just practice, this game is amazing. You do this sort of thing EXACTLY how it should be done. Cheers.
really i had lots of problems to learn this game (dark souls player) compeletly different game play mechanics and fighint styles. but it is much fun and i enjoyed blood borne as much as dark souls my main problem is how i get back to dark souls mechanics for drk souls 3 :D (still dont play it)
Excellent video. I wish every single person who had an early copy watched this first before playing. I saw well over 20 streams this last week where at the beginning of the game the player could not figure out how to equip their weapons, especially the firearm. It drove me crazy watching them and not being able to tell them to press options, press down, press right twice and press X to equip the gun. They would only highlight the first two weapon slots (for the right hand) and not even check the other two, or even worse they would access the inventory screen and go to the weapon and try to press "use", then they would say on screen "it won't let me equip my weapon". Don't get me wrong, i completely understand what it is like to be new to these kinds of games and i have no issue with them not knowing what to do. Everyone has to learn somehow. My issue is that they don't even TRY to figure it out by exploring the main options hud. There are messengers on the ground for a reason, they tell you how to play the game but 90 percent of the streamers i watched read maybe one of them, and bypassed all the rest only to complain about not knowing how to play the game later on. Maybe they are used to games telling them what to do step by step in a more direct fashion? I even read on a forum where an individual said that bloodborne sucks, the environments are all the same, and there aren't enough weapons: the problem is that this person only played for 2 hours and gave up. Either way, it's good to have a how-to video like this, sorry about the rant! :)
The gaming community really has fallen, eh? They expect to be a dominant force, with the story and gameplay being spoon-fed to them. They've forgotten how to learn on their own. You have every right to rant.
Most of the people getting the game early are gaming journalists, and most gaming journalist suck at video games :P And if it was a streamer then they didn't do so well cause they had to focus on being entertaining AND looking at chat, which makes playing a frantic game like this even harder.
CHIN CHIN Huh? Where did that unprovoked attack come from, and why? Where was there any indication of whether I were a weeaboo or not? A bit irrelevant to this comment thread.
CHIN CHIN In the most literal of definitions, yeah, in a sense, I could be called those things. The westernized version of the term "otaku" isn't as derogatory as it is in Japan. The meaning of the term has changed to merely a person who avidly watches anime, of which I do. It's not some sort of taboo, it's an entertainment medium, much like movies or video games. The definition of the terms "otaku" and "weeaboo" are quite a bit different. A weeaboo wants to _be_ Japanese, or finds Japan some sort of holy place, which it is not. I merely use the term "otaku" for ease, rather than saying "I watch anime a lot". I'm an "atheist", too, by definition. I don't affiliate myself with any particular religion or god, but I have to accept the definition, whether I want to take the label or not, regardless of the negative stigma it may have. I don't particularly like the label "gamer" either, but, it's easier then saying "I like to play video games a lot" or "player of video games". You understand what I'm getting at, by now, I'm sure. I don't really know how my channel description has any bearing on the subjects at hand, however. Plus, I put that channel description there a good many years ago. I forgot it even existed until you irrelevantly brought it up. I guess now's a good time to change it, then, to avoid such ad hominem in the future.
Terrific intro guide. Wish I'd watched this before starting on my own. The game teaches you NOTHING!! I've become used to big releases holding my hand with tutorials and pop up text explaining everything. Bloodborne, however, doesn't give a shit if you understand!
I think the game should at least explain the basics of how the interface and game system works, even if it's not going to give you combat tips and such. I shouldn't have to look up how to equip a weapon, for example. I understand that part of the appeal is supposed to be in figuring things out through trial and error, but there's nothing really rewarding about having to guess how the game's basic controls work. Hand-holding is annoying, but so is being needlessly obscure.
@@olive8604 It has a tutorial? Wjen you run around in the hunters dream after dying the first time, the weird soul creature things pop up all around the courtyard
Here's my guide to beginners: Analyzing enemy activity is key to understanding and outperforming them. Don't just assume having a weapon makes you invincible to the weakest enemy, as they can threaten you if you make a single mistake. If a single tactic is not working, try something else. For example: normal attacks on the Cleric Beast may lead you to trade damage, and likely come out needing to use two blood vials while only dealing around 1/20th of the beast's HP in damage. If you are skillful enough to dodge efficiently and win trades, that's fine, but you'd realize that Heavy attacks stun his arms for a couple seconds if performed enough, giving you time to apply more damage, and the fact that you can lock onto his head should be a clear indication that head-strikes will have an effect. Molotov's and decently timed vertical strikes on his lowered head will show good results if successful. The Hunter's Axe is the most user friendly and lowest skill cap of the 3 starting weapons. The Saw Spear is also excellent (can be acquired from Saw Hunter badge or on a body in the first area) as it has some variety in its attacks and reach. The threaded cane can easily become a hindrance due to low damage, the whip form being fairly weak in general (it has good crowd control, but Hunter's Axe does this even better due to having a 360 spin and knock-down mechanic), and the cane form having the shortest range of the weapons. The Saw Cleaver is good, but due to how you need to pay more attention with the vertical strikes (in its extended form), you may prefer the many horizontal sweeps the axe affords. Get Vitality to 30 (Should be at least 25 by the time you reach Amelia) while only putting little into your primary stat (after 30 you can strictly focus on your primary stat, be it Str/Sk/Blo/Arc). Many enemies can one or two shot you by the time you beat Gascoigne if you leave it around 10-15. Vitality is the most important, and by the end of your NG cycle, you should have no less than 35, otherwise you will be destroyed by most enemies in one hit. Endurance is NOT THAT IMPORTANT. Stamina is not as scarce as it is in Dark Souls, and Endurance only increases Stamina and Poison Resistance (the latter stopping growth at 30, the former at 40), so you should honestly prioritize Vitality and your primary and even secondary stat over Endurance, and it should likely never exceed 30 (I leave characters with around 16 Endurance and they can combo in PvE and even PvP just fine) LEARN TO PARRY. Parrying is essential in this game unless you are highly confident in your abilities to play Bloodborne (which you shouldn't be, if you are new). Practicing to parry early on will save you a lot of trouble, especially since about 75% of the enemies seen through the first 2 areas CAN be parried. Arguably one of the most important things: Exploration leads to less stress. Discovering shortcuts can cut entire minutes off of your run back to a boss room.
Wow Just realized this video is 6years old ^^' Great video. Great narration, montage and the chapters to help us with your work's organisation is great ! Thank you
Just started the game and I gotta say.. it's awesome. it's as difficult as you'd expect from a souls game. and since the battle system has significant changes, it'll take even skilled souls players time to master it. The atmosphere is brilliant. Level design.. oh thank got for the level design, it's better than DS2. it has a lot of complexities and it feels good when you finally get that shortcut. The music is absolutely stunning. it fit perfectly with the world which is masterfully crafted. My only issues so far: load times (and why didn't they incorporate item descriptions) and a bit of framerate jagging. otherwise, flawless.
My tip as a beginner that has NEVER played a game like this. In Bloodborne, molotovs are absolute LIFESAVERS. Good for tougher enemies, good for clearing areas, and good for battling the clerical beast. Not good for fast moving creatures. The slower enemies, molotovs will either injure or kill them relatively quickly if you are careful and aim/time it right. Another tip, ALWAYS buy better armor once it becomes available. The first thing I did at the start of the game was defeat enemies and buy the hunter armor. The less armor you have, the less likely you will survive. And final VERY IMPORTANT tip, use your parry! If you cannot parry, you will die every time you fight something tough. It seems hard, but you'll get the hang of dodging enemies. Let them attack first, then dodge, and move in for the strike...or....just molotov them and go.
I never played this game because of its difficulty. Because of your explanation, now I know why it is addictive and one of the best game because of it's combat mechanics pair with lores.
This is such a great video. So much knowledge. I think the reason I like Kingdom of Amalur, Bloodborne and Breath of the Wild more than I enjoy Nioh 1/2, Witcher 3, HZD and AC:Origins is because there's less mechanics. Was going through the Nioh 2 tutorial last night again and was like, this is a lot of ish to remember. Maybe I'm just getting old. Nioh series and Witcher 3 has a lot to remember. Even Greedfall and Outworld don't has as many mechanics. Any-hoo, I'm rambling. Great video again.
I just played this for 3 hrs with my bare hands before realizing that you can obtain weapons in the hunters dream. So much easier!
Lmao
How
WTF men.
How sway, how
I played one hour and then realized you can *EQUIP* the freakin weapons!!

The only thing that's genuinely creepy are the underground rats ugh disgusting

New to the PS4 system.
I'm fucked XD
Hahaha, that is exactly me too. Bought a PS4 Pro last month. Never played any of the souls games. Now I'm stuck on the 2nd lamp, after like 10 tries. My only complain from this game is the fps. 30fps on such a high paced game?? Makes me dizzy after a while...
This is my first game on any Playstation console (I'm a PC gamer) and I didn't even remember well where the buttons are located.
Nikunj Jain Strange Because I've Had Two Severe Headaches, After Playing This Game For Three Hours, And It Only Happens When Playing This Game.
In Dark Souls 2 the screen tearing ,and the dark areas hurt my eyes too.It was the game that forced me to go get glasses made.😎
Nikunj Jain Well the only Souls game I've played is DS2, and it the one I've finished without the Ivory King DLC.
THIS! also enemy's keep dropping items no matter what, farmed/bought enough crap to have my storage box maxed out so i don't have to worry anymore and drops are still going even on upgrade material. don`t know but right now this game feels a lot easier than even dks2, you don't have to worry about penalty's for dying no hollowing no loss of humanity, you have 20 scalable healing items from the the beginning of the game and you can farm upgrade material to your hearts desire without running out of spawns. no soul memory to keep players from ganking low level players... also all weapons seem to be available at the shop. most forgiving game yet.....
they tryed to balance this by giving a lot of enmys one hit kill attacks.....which is a shit idea to begin with
Pedda ZZ it isn't shit, it's a great way to remind players that they need to focus on the attacks of the enemies over most other things, for instance you wouldn't focus much on the attacks if you knew they weren't going to fuck up your shit, it forces you to get better at memorizing move sets and patterns.
FarTooManyPizzasForYou
what a load of bs as if 1hit kill attacks are needed for that
Pedda ZZ like I said, you focus more on the enemy's attacks if you know that one of them can annihilate you. It's an excellent trainer

3 hours In and still at the second lamp thingy 😵
Cheers
559KING Awesome, glad to hear. Have fun!
hehe, me too. I guess I have to work on my strategy.
zrunne I'm at the third boss now wich it like the 6th lamp.
I'm only a handful of hours in but am finally getting to play this gem after way to long of a wait!
you can never be late on a game. im planning to play it after my exams 🤚
It’s the best game ever made. I am playing through the Witcher 3 for the first time since they got the PS5 update and while it is a good game it never should have won GotY over this
I just got it today. I just beat Elden Ring (my 1st Souls game ever) and after hearing all the buzz about Bloodborne I knew I had to check this out.
Elden ring was also my first souls game, absolutely loved it. Never owned a Sony console until 3 days ago and this is the first game I wanted to play on my new PS5
I just picked it up too 😂 after playing sekiro and elden ring
Picked this game up two days ago and I think this is one of the best breakdowns that you can find on UA-cam, great job mate
Also check out Dangitjm, he has a really good guide about how to make effective builds.
And a personal nugget of advice, really really prioritize your health while leveling up. Damage increases from leveling strength and skill are really insignificant until you start using bloodgems in your weapons.
@@gj3741 my friend, you have no idea the horrors that await you in Bloodborne, but even so, good hunting.

I got it a bit back, then traded it in. Now that I've played souls 2 and watched this, I'm getting it again.
Once you experience all its flaws, and figure out how to overcome them, you sort of learn to appreciate the game in its entirety. That's what I call bootiful.

The only gripe I have about this game is the fact you can’t “rest or fast travel between the lamps”
I bought this game yesterday for only €18,- Im so excited for it to be delivered and to play it!
Good luck!
Little into the game, I'm struggling to defeat Father Gascoine.
Yea I know, the struggle for Blood Vials is also very real.
I love how descriptive we're being with the user interface and menu systems so so damn helpful for somebody who has no vision.
Anybody else come here after they released Bloodborne on Playstation Plus?

That's not what type of game it is. Most games treat you like a baby, and don't think of this game like it's dropping you in and leaving you for dead. This game trusts you to be able to figure it out yourself with a little patience. But this video is helping my friend a lot who just bought the game.
Benny Boi you can learn almost all of this in the hunters dream from the messengers hanging around.
giving you basic instructions on how to play the game should not be part of the game itself, theyre just cheap for not including an instruction booklet, or at least a page that tells u what the buttons do, instead of the messengers telling u , its not necessary just annoying
bmf 456 exactly,I like that the game doesn't guide u and hold ur hand. But it should provide a controller layout.
blank 003 they want u to buy the $30 strategy guide instead of including the instructions
You can actually farm blood vails consistently. The enemy that drops them the majority of the time are the trolls
Just played this game for around 2 hours on my pc and it was so amazing and fantastic. The atmosphere this game creates is just amazing and the parry system with gun is just so good. Defeated cleric beast looking forward to more.
I played on pc through shadps4 if anyone is wondering.
omg the first bloodborne video, I feel honored
I FINALLY bought this.
Makes me happy that every time I return to the Dream and bow to Doll, she bows back. 💞
Such a thorough way of explaining the game. I just got back from a long hiatus and this was a good refresh.
Well you can easily run through some enemies areas. It's not like in blighttown in ds1 which triggers me every time
The way to beat games like this is not by "getting good" but by recognizing that the game is about learning.
What this means is this game is great exposition for you. You'll get it, just keep at it and you'll learn to manage your stress.
Alright, here we go. The 10 rules for beginner's.
1. KNOW HOW TO DODGE AND COUNTER, you will never beat the first area if you can't doge attacks correctly and know when and when not to attack.
2. Know The Build you want to be before you actually start playing the game.(This will help you achive your build a lot faster and will make sure you don't waste levels
on things you don't need.
It also
can mean that you should know what you're going to do next weather your going to work towards your next boss, to farm echoes, ect.)
5. NEVER underestimate or overestimate any enime, weather it's a enime such as a crow or a giant guy with a sledge hammer. If you hit your shots right you can kill
anything no matter the level difference, so can the enime though.
6. Learn how to stagger/viceral attack, it can kill very strong enimies or even bosses really fast. So far in the game there are three ways to stagger an enime, one by holding
your power attack to it's max strengh and hit the target in the back with your light attack (only works with onehanded weapons.) Two shooting an enime right before
they make a light attack.(This will stagger them, then with a one handed weapon go infront of them and attack them with your light attack). And three dumb luck,
sometimes if you attack an enime right before they do it will stagger them allowing you to do a viceral attack.
7. Don't be emotional. please, just don't get emotional towards anything in the game, it will just ruin the expierence.
8. Don't Rush, only advance to the next area if you are a high enough level to where you can kill the enimies in that area easily, not doing this will make the game
much harder.
9. DON'T RELY ON THE BECCONING BELL! if you can't beat a boss on your own then your not ready for the area it unlocks, the only time you should use the becconing bell
is when your 100% certian that you know you can beat it on your own but you just don't want to go through all the trouble of killing it yourself.
10. GOLDEN RULE!!! Stick to Dat Booty. Yes, it's true when fighting a boss or a larger enime stick behind them and try to viceral attack as much as you can, do this by
countering, when they do a heavy attack doge behind them and do a charged heavy strike, then do a viceral attack. This will kill most large enimes and dammage
bosses a lot.
How are you finding this masterpiece bro
WTF that ain't no damn pebble that things a huge, thats a rock
When you throw it at a 30 foot beast, or a ten foot man holding a brick, it might be a pebble.
Lord Slick Rick No, bro a rock that size would be a rock still, goes pebble, rock, stone, boulder :P
That's the last thing you'll worry about in yharnam :p

Anyone playing this for the first time in 2024? Im loving the game so far personally
I got the game when it was free on psplus a while ago and never bothered playing it, now here I am
I feel like people still come back here, but i assure even after 3 times this is a very well explenation, its like it Vaati attracts interest.
I started this game today and the alleyway with 20 guys was so hard for me to beat and I had no idea how to do it but after 2 hours of learning it I killed all of them and I fell in love with the game, this game is a gem I know I will always love
@GHOST34019 Same, I like how the game makes you want to destroy your desk.
I'm 9 years late but this video still helps a lot!!! thank you mate
Just got this on PS Plus and came here for some advice. Thanks for this!
Cheers.
Zachary, how far did you ever get in the game?
Thank you for making these videos with a pleasant tone of voice. It makes such a huge difference.
Welcome to Yarnam. Landed there yesterday for the first time. What a blast :-)
Good Hunting fellow Hunter💯
@@Vman_95 thank you!! are in to Chalice Dungeons? don't understand the concept. want to farm there zkkuvat7j, but don't meet the requirements...?
Best guide for beginners. To the point and very informative! Great vid!
Man, i just started yesterday. Thank u for helping
The last few hours of waiting are becoming increasingly difficult to handle!!!
I know how you feel my friend...
Have it pre-ordered but I still need to wait 56 minutes...
I'm progressively losing my mind. :/
I knoww
Try having to wait until Friday like us in the UK.
Try being a PC gamer. Imagine how long we'll be waiting.
really i had lots of problems to learn this game (dark souls player)
compeletly different game play mechanics and fighint styles.
but it is much fun and i enjoyed blood borne as much as dark souls
my main problem is how i get back to dark souls mechanics for drk souls 3 :D (still dont play it)
hope so
dark souls is a more patient attack style rather than bloodborne which is more aggressive style... Dark Souls is easier battle system imo
You know what, 2 years later this vid still hold up. Good tut vat
Oh, nice, i should get this
BUT I CANT, ITS A PLAYSTATION 4 EXCLUSIVE
Then get a PS4. It will be worth it, like Demon's Souls was worth getting a PS3 for.
downphoenix man, its too expensve right now, its 400 euros for the thing and only a single controller.
Gorilla Munch That's why God gave us 2 kidneys. He wants us to have a PS4.
downphoenix I second this even though I don't own a ps4 or a ps3 or even played demon souls.
***** its euros for me mate
Most of the people getting the game early are gaming journalists, and most gaming journalist suck at video games :P
And if it was a streamer then they didn't do so well cause they had to focus on being entertaining AND looking at chat, which makes playing a frantic game like this even harder.
CHIN CHIN Huh? Where did that unprovoked attack come from, and why? Where was there any indication of whether I were a weeaboo or not? A bit irrelevant to this comment thread.
Chocomunchie "I'm a Gamer and an Otaku."
Thanks for this. Great vid! Just started my playthrough yesterday and already enjoying it.
Terrific intro guide. Wish I'd watched this before starting on my own. The game teaches you NOTHING!! I've become used to big releases holding my hand with tutorials and pop up text explaining everything. Bloodborne, however, doesn't give a shit if you understand!
Welcome to From Soft's games. Stay a fucking a while.
+Michael Scott thats the cool thing about their games..when you just discover a new game mechanic and you are just like: what???how did i do that??"
@@MasterDrakon009 no thanks
I think the game should at least explain the basics of how the interface and game system works, even if it's not going to give you combat tips and such. I shouldn't have to look up how to equip a weapon, for example.
I understand that part of the appeal is supposed to be in figuring things out through trial and error, but there's nothing really rewarding about having to guess how the game's basic controls work. Hand-holding is annoying, but so is being needlessly obscure.
@@olive8604 It has a tutorial? Wjen you run around in the hunters dream after dying the first time, the weird soul creature things pop up all around the courtyard
Here's my guide to beginners:
Analyzing enemy activity is key to understanding and outperforming them.
Stamina is not as scarce as it is in Dark Souls, and Endurance only increases Stamina and Poison Resistance (the latter stopping growth at 30, the former at 40), so you should honestly prioritize Vitality and your primary and even secondary stat over Endurance, and it should likely never exceed 30 (I leave characters with around 16 Endurance and they can combo in PvE and even PvP just fine)
LEARN TO PARRY.
Wow Just realized this video is 6years old ^^'
Great video.
Great video. Picking up bloodborne in 2021. Been dying like crazy for 2 days. I’m getting better tho. This is the best bb beginner guide on UA-cam
I’ve platinumed Bloodborne but I’m still watching this lmao
As an avid dark souls player i got excited to play this... 6 hours in couldn't beat the first boss, this tutorial was on point, thank you
Thanx man, very useful vid. I was about to drop the game and now I'm definitely gonna give it a go 👍🏼
Bough this game a couple days ago. Im level 50 and still get beaten senseless but damn is this game good.
Why am I watching this after even after getting the Platinum Trophy?
