This man is an absolute legend. The best bro every climber needs, but might not deserve. Absolute god of a man. Hope to be even a tiny bit of a belayer that he is one day.
Some say he just came into being... others say he ascended downwards from the heavens... All we know for sure is we don’t deserve him. And yet, he’s here.
Jack Baker Belaying is a second part of climbing. It’s pretty much the person who is your life line, they stand and keep slack in or out of the rope that way if you fall you don’t die. Unless you Alex Honnold and find belaying dumb.
My wife used to belay me all the time. In Kentucky 20 years ago, I look over and my wife is belaying a skinny young kid climbing way harder than me. It was Dave Graham. I thought my wife was the best belayer Dave.
The next evolution of the sport. Good to see rope jockeys pushing the boundaries of whats possible! Looking forward to reading his autobiography, Catcher in the Lime.
BelayerGuy, you are awesome! That´s so much more worth than good climbing. Couse of guys like you, i can climb without worrying. One day i´ll be like you. Love ya!
Alpine Jesse is the World's Best Belayer and Almost Alpine is the world's best climbing mockumentary. The original was done several years ago by a few guys with no budget and big dreams. Here's the link to the ORIGINAL: ua-cam.com/video/lNEdWMAwTKw/v-deo.html
I'm an identical twin or was sadly until last year and although Paul and i were insightful and sensory this guy takes it to a whole new level. Hilarious. Mark
So annyoing that they always interrupt the belaying shots with silly climbing..
haha! you right!
This video has changed my life forever... today i stopped climbing so that i can put all my focus on the ancient art of belay.
well do not know what to say. Passion is better than talent ;)
I'm ashamed at how long it took me to realize that this was a joke
Mark William I had to read the comments to find out....
You're not alone!
Wait......this......is a Joke?
oh i didn't realise until now lol
Why ashamed
This is the guy who belays Alex Honnold with invisible wire.
LOL
So pure !
Top comment
🤣🤣🤣
bruh I thought they just photoshopped the scene
“No I don’t climb, I’m a belayer” kick ass dude. Owning it like nothing else.
Captain thanks !
"has an incredible ability to be stationary on the ground"
I will pray hard to God tonight. If he really exists he will surely grant my wish of acquiring this ability.🙏🏽
Rumor has it Honnold did not truly free-solo El Cap. He was emotionally belayed by this guy
That was amazing when he clipped the first draw by swinging the rope. Indeed the best.
Rodeo clipping bro ;).
That's some proper advertising.
Ok i completely cracked when he started speaking Swedish and literally said: Come on buddy! I am with you! Go on! Its cool!
Great job Petzl. We need more!!!
His Slovene pronunciation was just PERFECT, even nailing the dialect. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time!
I feel left out as I don't understand what he's saying, being English makes me miss so many good jokes
the french was perfect too ! I wonder if he's french, there's a clip of him climbing the stairs near the BNF in Paris
God his cantonese was so good I could understand it too, it sounded impeccably fluent
I heard he once belayed 8 climbers simultaneously......
with his feet......blindfolded
It would be awesome to have this unreleased footage! Do you have it?
Why were his feet blindfolded
@J. St :)
It's not the Stig.....
It's Stig's climbing cousin!!
@@andres177 the stigs belaying cousin, remember he doesn't climb.
That first clip @4:21 though
Also "In the winter, I head south to Spain to continue belaying" makes it sound like he's a migratory bird, haha
This man is an absolute legend. The best bro every climber needs, but might not deserve.
Absolute god of a man.
Hope to be even a tiny bit of a belayer that he is one day.
This is possibly the greatest rock climbing video on UA-cam
Lincoln City Films thanks !
The "I don't climb" and the drone scene just killed me.
Bahahahahaha!!!
Thanks!!
The Wilhem Scream at 6:02 tops it off for sample/audio nerds!
Rope Drag value on the HUD. :DD
Some say he just came into being... others say he ascended downwards from the heavens... All we know for sure is we don’t deserve him.
And yet, he’s here.
Hah this came up in my feed and I was like what the heck is belaying? But now my life has changed for ever.. absolutely inspirational
Jack Baker Belaying is a second part of climbing. It’s pretty much the person who is your life line, they stand and keep slack in or out of the rope that way if you fall you don’t die. Unless you Alex Honnold and find belaying dumb.
Thanks! Appreciate! :-)
Wonderful swedish accent! Couldn't belive my ears! Kom igen kompis...det är lugnt! Keep on rockin'

"He doesn't even recognize human beings as existing. He is more using them as an object, in which he can interact with the art of belaying." 😂
Best part
BelayerGuy, you are awesome! That´s so much more worth than good climbing. Couse of guys like you, i can climb without worrying. One day i´ll be like you. Love ya!
As I first saw the thumbnail I expected something serious... but love it 😍
Dave Graham's straight face game is on point.
BTW 1:59-2:08 his Cantonese pronunciation is very good too! Since no one seems to be talking about that...
AAA it's sooo great! Everybody acted soooo well! How many takes they needed to do to not laugh?
dude this is nöt a jöke!
Thanks! Appreciate! :-)
We all know you only said that to prove that u knew it was a joke
what do you mean by "acted"?
4:54 - 5:07 Took me some time to find it but this is "The Moai - Tasmania". Opposite side of the globe for my fellow European climbers :P
Shit ! I hoped it would be somewhere in Europe. It's absolutely beautiful
Thank you ! I was searching that !
Pure genius - love this so much, and didn't want it to end!!
same for me! Amazing production and all the famous climbers giving a comment. Soo good!
The real genius comes from guys that made the original. It seems Petzl liked it so much they decided to "borrow it" www.almostalpine.com
Thanks for your feedbacks!!
Thanks for your feedbacks!!
I’ve never climbed anything in my life but this video had me pumped
Yes very well written! And from someone who trusts his life every day to Petzl. You captured the feeling. 👍
This is funny, but in all seriousness a good belayer is the foundation of a good climber haha
"I don't climb"
Well so much for multi-pitch.
sdpy nah he'll just jumar
Hes can just ascend no need for silly climbing
One of the best Video from Petzl! Great Job and thanks for sharing! Greetings Tom
He truly exists ! I always thought he was just a legend !
Nice way of emphasize best practice in belaying
In some way I think they were all serious. Underneath every great rock climber is a great belayer.
Dave Graham clearly had a lot of fun filming this piece. Really funny educational piece, great job Petzl!
This video has motivated me I'm gonna start belaying in a tt helmet to try and be the best
I'll be getting some this summer here in AZ. This dude is setting the standard!
world best belayer drive you safely at home after a night at pub ;)
Brilliant, now I want to see the out takes and bloopers version 👍
Haha this is epic!
Eric Karlsson Bouldering When he started speaking Swedish
Eric Karlsson Bouldering Nice to see Said in the video!
Eric Karlsson Bouldering you need to get him to belay nikken so that he can give 110%
he'll be his shirtless power
When he started speaking Slovenian
I'm coming for you. My training schedule will be bumped up to 9 hours of belay a day and 4 hours spotting. Hehe, what a great video.
Possibly the best video I've ever watched after top rope tough guys
Dave Graham was perfect for this
Very funny video! I hope he belays me some day
Guys, even Chris Sharma couldn't get him to belay...! :))
I love this! I need to train with this dude…
love the slowmo opening the case of belay devices
It was a great idea, first presented to the public in Almost Alpine
They were just missing the golden shining briefcase effect from Pulp Fiction.
Dedication!! Positive vibes, cool spray, swagger, and the genes. I can only aspire to be so great!!
So funny, brilliant, outstanding, love it.
This is one of the best videos on the internet
By far the greatest testament to his skill is his ability to belay so well even with the anti-panic feature on the grigri plus.
😀
This video has such amazing camera angles and is so well done.
Basically the best Belayer is focused and pays attention to the details and never gets complacent.
"I only spent a few hours with him but wow" lol well played
And he doesn't even use belay glasses..
Luke Daniel He doesn’t need to; he has a drone.
i heard he can see around corners with his bare eyes
Of course not. His neck is stronger than an elephant.
I would FALL in love with him
Bravo! this was amazing. I only dream to be belayed by the worlds best belayer someday.
Vous m’avez régaler la les gars 😂🤣
Et merci pour la traduction en français !

Leonidio is just awesome :D Haha nice one!
Such a good belayer! She was climbing in Twin Caves sector, fell to Mars sector and he was still there to catch her fall!
Haha!
I'm an identical twin or was sadly until last year and although Paul and i were insightful and sensory this guy takes it to a whole new level. Hilarious. Mark
Just went climbing for the first time today and stumbled upon this. And in so glad I did. Hilarious

Genius! It feels like the Most Interesting Man In The World ads
I’m with you. Belay all the way...
This is done so well. I mean, I fell in and out of thinking, "They're taking the Mickey, right?" Perfect.
Thanks !
This is the equivalent of a surf photographer. A necessary part of the sport, these guys are heroes.
This was just amazing :) Love it!
8:11 dat shining eyes of Dave
Love this!
I think this is my favorite video
you know some companies do something amazing every now and again this is one of them xD
I recognized what should I do how to be a good belayer!!
The climbing clips are actually fire though. Those are some hard moves.
Don't be fooled: this IS a huge Petzl advert!
...but it is still hugely entertaining XD
That slow-mo jump back is 👌🔥
Très amusant et bien realisé!
One time Alex Honnold told me in secret that when he saw a queue of climbers to this guy he decided to climb free solo.
the pelican case was so cool!
It’s a great idea.... PETZL took from Almost Alpine
hahaha gotta love chris sharma
Your belayer: Your lifeline and personal cheerleader all in one!
Need that necklace 0:01 !
SAME
That hat
Me too!! Are they available?!
We all do..........we all do..
Music is so cool!
this filming is amazing
I genuinely had to look at the comments to see if this was a joke.
Honestly i want this guy on all my climbs
"You need to be a PhD in at least three different subjects" hahaha
The hilarious comedy aside:
06:53
Damn! What an awesome shot!
He needs to write the Book of Belaying...just brilliant
could u guys make e2 of this one? so much fun to watch it.
I thought this was a joke, but I looked it up and hes won several championships.
4:53 Where is this place?! It's amazing.
i need to know too
