hi! i just had a question about something so, since birds cannot ingest the fumes of candles, air fresheners, perfumes, etc., what about shampoos or deodorant? for instance, the type of shampoos and deodorants i use smell good, but strong, and im wondering if that is okay for birds since it doesnt exactly escape into the air, and if there are any nontoxic alternative brands
No, don't get a blue throated macaw. They are so extremely endangered that you wouldn't even be able to get one. I WOULD NOT GET ANY BIRD FOR FREE FLIGHT! If this is your first bird, don't even get a macaw, get something small, like a conure or a cockatiel (which cannot freefly) Free flying is not for the faint of heart. They can easily be eaten or attacked that for an average person, it is not worth it. Also, don't get a bird for someone else, they'll lose interest.
@@goldtopbettas4102At this time, I cannot recommend birds to people because I do not have a personal relationship with you. I do not know your personality, home life situation, the amount of space given for the bird, work schedule, parrot training enthusiasm levels... and the list goes on... getting a new animal is such a personal choice and decision. Nobody can make the call but yourself. All i can do is implore you to do research :)
Hi Emily, my daughter has been a big fan of you and bogie for a while now and I’m looking to get my daughter a cockatoo, what would you say is the best cockatoo to get a teenager????
Hey DM me on Instagram! I would never ever suggest a cockatoo to anyone. They are really unpredictable and they bite. What happens to the bird when your daughter goes to school and college? Would you be willing to bear that responsibility? Cockatoos also live to be around 60-80 years old. I implore you to do your research. Really look into the worst traits of the animal you’re thinking about getting. I have seen so many birds rehomed, abandoned and neglected because of how complex and difficult of an animal they are to take care of. Not trying to be a downer. I am a realist and want to be as honest and transparent as possible.
Second what Emily said. I actually have a few teen free flight mentees, but they're huge animal-lovers and put a lot of work into their birds. They have smaller birds like lovebirds, conures, and cockatiels. Even those birds can be a lot of work and can bite, often leading them to being rehomed. Cockatoos are pretty terrible as house pets. You almost have to free-fly them (most of them). Cockatiels are better as pets, but they still will need to fly around the house and everything else that comes with having birds. And you'll need to care for them if your daughter stops for whatever reason. I would always get two so they have a friend; it's not great for them to be alone long hours, and you'll always be worrying about how long they've been left alone if you only have one. You can message me on Instagram as well if you'd like to discuss this stuff more (@parrotvolancy). P.S. I have some nice videos of cockatoo reality on there. LOL.
@@flocklife I tell everyone who comes by the batting cage when I'm training Havoc that. XD;; I think maybe .001% of the population can realistically handle and provide for them properly, and I'm not even where I want to be with that yet since Havoc really needs an aviary.
@@ParrotVolancy Your work with havok has been amazing to watch. I hope I get to work hands on with an Indonesian cockatoo eventually. hahaha or do i?! 🙈
It's so beautiful, I love it! 💕 The perch idea sounds so cute too. Wish we had Palm trees here in Canada aha. I'm trying to convince my artist sister to do a mural of cockatoos and parrots in Cheeky's room in our new house. But since Cheeky terrorizes her, apparently nothing will convince her. 😭
People dont realize how much time, content and effort it takes to film to edit a 8 minute video…..It can take 20-40 hours total…….Try and do 2x a month and see if that helps…I did sailing videos and I got so burnt out I just stopped. Plus I dont look good in a bikini…lol
Beautiful art from one muralist to another! And beautiful Bogey bird! Loved the dance montage. Super fun!
Great video.
