@Troy I agree yes, BUT there is such thing as healthy plus size women/men. And there are also thin women/men that are also healthy. We are too much into others peoples business, and we need to not judge on what we see. And that is what Jameela is talking about.
ol i'm a fat guy and i'm my biggest "discriminator" ... i think it's more easy for big girls to use this " protection shell" but for guys there still is to born a person saying that man tits are beautiful, attractive , and a fat belly is more good looking than a hemsworth abs and those nice V ...but not everything is sour grapes. Looks aren't the only thing that counts and if even someone like me manage to find a partner it's a prove to say , u can always find someone.

@Troy health is important of course, but even the medical field discriminates against people based on size in that they will blame any problems on their size instead of run the tests they would normally run on slender/skinny people based on the symptoms. there are also many stories of people who are on medication for mental illnesses like depression and such and their doctors will take them off good medications that are working. because they've had a side effect of gaining weight, which is so not a big deal if anti-depressants are working. health is important BUT being considered overweight by society doesn't always make you unhealthy and also shouldn't justify people being horrible and discriminatory. your health is your business, people shouldn't feel like they have the right to tell you what to do or what to look like based on your health.

I don't like the word "progress" it's to general and a modern idea attached to really bad and dumb things. Instead I think she should use or is thinking more of an important word that applies to generations, IMPROVEMENT.
Faithful warrior exactly. If they keep making the same mistakes especially despite being told about it then that is not exactly an improvement nor “progress” hence pointless to keep them around because they clearly do not wish to learn from the mistakes and correct themselves.

I watched Bollywood my whole life and when I finally went to India last year as an adult, I was genuinely shocked at how underrepresented dark skinned Indians are in movies and dramas. As a dark skinned block woman, I can definitely empathize with young people growing up seeing whitewashed celebs in movies and on billboards
It's easy for people to think that actors ARE their characters, especially when this is the only character you're known for. It can be easy to think that Jameela Jamil is as conceited and air-headed as her character. This interview shoots that down. She's clearly so intelligent, so passionate, and so impactful. We HAVE to STAN.

moop nah that’s literally fat shaming. Im skinny as fuck but i eat shit tons of junk food daily. Does that mean im healthy? Hell no. But I’ve never had someone commented on my body saying they are concerned with my “health”. I also had eating disorder ages ago i was as skinny as a skeleton but all i got was compliments saying how good i look. You can never tell someone’s health by their size, period.

Goes to show you how important individual people are. One person can change a nation, and doesn't even need to be in an important position, Sure she is an actress and it helps publicize her more, but in this case I am not mad, she is using it for Good. She's smart. She only became an actress as a strategy to get the word spread and use her "power" and influence of an actor/famous person for good. But even if the rest of us are not actresses, we can make a difference, it's crazy how much we could change for the better if we all took that one thing we cared about and really stuck with it to fight against evil.

Eloquent, honest, wears her heart on her sleeve. Never heard or seen her before this, but oh man, she is captivating. Wish her the very best and hope she goes places. She needn't necessarily attest to that, and she seems strong enough not to bother either ;) In my view, she would be stunning either way. I like my girl to be sans makeup too, and I just like her that way. Au naturel, if you may. But I don't force her in anyway whatsoever, or ask her to refrain from it when she feels like it when we're going out. Her body, her choice. Sure, makeup does wonders for people's self esteem, and they feel pretty and beautiful, confident in their own skin, powerful and strong (I use the word people here, as makeup is not gender specific, it is neutral). Nothing wrong with makeup at all. Like I said, each one their own, and it was just a personal preference I stated. I believe everyone is, and should be free to make their own body choices.
