ABOUT THE GOOD PLACE
From creator Michael Schur (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Master of None”) comes a unique comedy about what makes a good person. The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell, “House of Lies,” “Veronica Mars”), an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife, and thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place (which is definitely where she belongs). While hiding in plain sight from Good Place Architect Michael (Ted Danson - “Cheers,” “CSI” - in an Emmy Award-nominated performance), she’s determined to shed her old way of living and earn her spot.

Easter egg in the finale:
1. Michael replaced Doug’s photo on his office wall with the 4 humans
2. Clock on Michael’s office wall spells Jeremy Bearimy
3. Janet & Jason’s pyjamas had the same pattern on Janet’s suit & blouse
4. Jason’s final outfit was a tracksuit & tanktop with a wave pattern
5. Kamilah was painting a wave in a waterfall when Tahani decided its time to go
6. Chidi & Eleanor were holding a Koulouri in Athens, but it turned into a croissant when they arrived in Paris
7. In the final scene, Michael is living in apartment 322 because that’s the perfect number of souls in each neighbourhood in his original ‘good place’ model
As chidi said, none of this is bad :)
I was literally the 111th like
The bow tie Michael gave Tahani was the same bow tie he wore in the first episode
Micheal's human name on earth is Micheal Realman 😂
I can't remember which episode it is when Michael mentions things he's always wanted to do on Earth, like "get a rewards card, any rewards card." It made me so happy that the mail that the guy delivered included his rewards card from the grocery store.
Also, he lived in block 12358. The number of the original neighbourhood; The Good Place Neighbourhood 12358W
I find it really beautiful how the series introduces the characters as
Chidi: the wise moral philosopher who puts good into the world
Jason/Jianju: the monk
Tahani: the selfless celebrity who does everything to help others
Janet: Janet
Micheal: an architect who designed a good place neighborhood
Eleanor: The kindest person who saves so many people doing charity work
And at the end that's what they all are
I didn’t think of that, that’s amazing.
Omg....
Yes!!!
‘Janet: Janet’ lmao , ur absolutely right tho
WOW
D'arcy wearing the jason/janet necklace from the finale as a bracelet is the best thing ever
Anusha Gopal omg! I didn’t notice! This made me even more emotional 😭
Omg baaaaa
Omg I thought it was so AWESOME she did that!!
Awe thats so sweet I'm gonna cry about iy
I cried when I noticed that
It wasn't a lesbian kiss because Janet is not a girl.
Hahaha
@Athenäs Omg me too, it was so beautiful!🥺🥺
Cecilia Bell not a robot
But she is still best not-a-girl and best not-a-robot!
I watched the behind the scenes thing of that part and oml it seemed like such a hard thing to do cause you have to keep moving ur head in weird positions like rlly close to each other but not kissing
That finale HURT. But I loved it.
“Take it sleazy,”
-Michael
Made me wonder what was going there. I'll bet Michael was acting the whole time. Lol.
Made me wonder what was going on there. I'll bet Michael was acting the whole time. So he could wreck havoc on earth.
I was on a rewatch this week and it still broke me. I cried soooo hard but it was so beautiful and sad, but still fulfilling in a way.
IKRR
chidi leaving eleanor, bs.
Glad im not the only one who cried during the show. Eleanor telling chidi she was alone her whole life to get him to stay broke me
Tyler Leggett....yup, rivers running down my cheaks!
That was literally stunning. Some of the most moving TV I have ever seen. Its amazing how the show made you care about people at such a deep level they gave so much of themselves in these roles. And you just know, there was never really any prima donnas while they were making the show because the most important factor was the writing. Michael Schur will surely go on to even greater things now he has broken through this barrier. I am insanely excited for what he will do next.
and the wave speech T_T
I didnt want to cry but I did....man
I cried like a baby during the whole final. My dog even jumped on me to give me a hug because it thought I was so sad. The final was beautiful. I'm sure we all cried watching the show hehe 😉
In an era of disappointing and rushed finales and a whole other ton of crap, the Good Place gave us the joy and hope we all desperately needed. I hope it is one of those shows that are immortalized for decades to come as the 'to watch or your life will not be complete' kind. I'm glad this series ended on a high note and can't wait to see what comes next for everyone involved
I'm thankful to be alive in this era to watch this show
a lot of show creators get so selfish and run a show longer than it has to
this one ended where it should've and it's great, b99 should've ended a while ago
@@shmiqqy disagreed. B99 should go on. Everything about that show is great. If it ends now it'll feel incomplete.
I think it's gonna be more of an underlying treasure show like when I grow up and my kids would find a pendrive of all these shows and one of them is this and they would watch it and possibly pass it on , yeah kinda like that show cause it's not really famous world wide as the office or Brooklyn nine per say. But nonetheless it's a treasure.
@@shmiqqy B99 doesn't follow a rigid structure which *has* to end , in good place it was important to end their journey because that's how it began. B99 is a regular sitcom and can extended to creator's desire and sure season 6 was tacky and first few episodes of season 7 didn't feel like b99 but it has returned the age old feeling of b99 again like the last episode. It certainly doesn't *NEED* to end.
I loved the cast was ethnically diverse without ever really pointing it out. I only now realize there was a black, white and Asian guy and a white and Indian woman. (Edit: Tahani is Pakistani)
And Janet
gman6862
And a robot
@@L.K-19 not a robot
I believe she's of Pakistani extraction.
Ethnically and ethically diverse
I loved the series finale but all of Janet's scenes were just her saying goodbye to everyone she loved and I don't know how D'arcy got through it.
I held it together until Janet said "I just worry" to Michael and then I lost it.
And when she was barely able to say "okay" cause she was tearing up while touching michaels's tie/shirt 😭😭
yes i sob when i saw her watching it all pass
i kind of wish we knew what happens to janet after everyone leaves, makes me sad thinking of all her friends eventually gone :(
@@ericac6648 I mean she's helping other people and hopefully gets to hang out with Tahani but still...
Sameee!😭 Their friendship was one of my favorite!
IS D'ARCY WEARING THE NECKLACE JASON GIVES JANET AS A BRACELET BC IM ABOUT TO DIE.
Aww she is ❤️🤧
did she died?
Caramel Macchiato what
Yknow what’s crazy? In Ted’s toast he said she wears her heart on her sleeve and she’s LITERALLY wearing a heart at the end of her sleeve
@@extra4542Good one 😂
Whaaaaat? This was Jameela's first acting gig? Couldn't notice
She really killed it I don’t know how many awards this show won but I hope all of them get more gigs
She's visited Elon Musk's underwater mansion, says it's remarkable
i love the look on D'arcy's face when Ted is toasting her. you can tell she's fighting back tears.
look again: there are literal tears streaming down her face!
She's not the only one...me😭
I was fighting too and I lost it
Idk it sounded rlly fake to me lmao
To have a legend like Ted compliment your talent like that has got to mean a LOT to D’arcy
Everyone is so different then on the show, you can clearly see thay are not their characters...
...And then there is Michael
He literally looks the same, dresses the same, sounds the same, and acts the same 😅
@@calistastone7902 totally
Hey ...Wats your binge watch now ?
Jameela is just like her character irl it turns out lol
All of them look and acts slightly different from their characters on the series(obviously) but is crazy hou much Ted Danson still looking and acting EXACTLY like Michael in the series, even the way he talks wow, that's so cool
Chidi acts the same too.
It's the weirdest thing- I watched the show and was like "Jason's such a dork, he's such a sweet doofus" and literally had almost no thoughts about his appearance. Then I see him talk in real life and it's like "oh my god. He's hot. HE'S BEEN HOT THIS WHOLE TIME HOW-"
So in conclusion, I am apparently the opposite of a morosexual, in that while I can still like and appreciate an idiot, it makes me utterly unable to be attracted to them at all
Morley wow i can relate to your comment on every level
Because he’s a real immortal.
@@morley364 I know it's been two years and you might already know this but the word you're looking for is probably "sapiosexual"
I’m devastated but I couldn’t imagine a better series finale. It concluded the stories for all the characters and sent them off in the most beautiful way. Seeing the relationship of the cast and also them being so proud of the show is so heartwarming.
I cried like a baby lol
YOUR PROFILE PICTURE IS SO FUNNY JAHSUABSUAJ
I'm glad you liked it. I'm not sure that I did. I use shows as an escape from reality, as a distraction really and those last 3 episodes got a little too real for me. They forced me to confront the thoughts I try to ignore.
Of course maybe it's my own fault. Why am I watching the The Good Place if I don't want to think about eternity, getting bored, and commuting suicide of sorts.
@@theramo0
It IS your fault.
It was the best ending for me because everyone's stories just got tied up. Somehow, the ending gave you a feeling of being in The Good Place. Just heartwarming and content.
Edit: Someone below said it was like the feeling they get when they decide to leave The Good Place, and I think that's indeed a better analogy.
The moment when Eleanor said that she wanted Chidi to leave before she woke up is when I hardcore sobbed. Also when Janet got emotional sending Michael down to Earth.
Yes! That line of Eleanor's gets me every time. Then I'm sob/laughing when she wakes up and he's left her the calender 😭
@@jannagriffith5101 I just finished it on Netflix. And that part literally broke me, I was also sobbing and laughing at the same time. 😭😭
This was show was so well crafted and written. The finale had me in tears but such a beautiful ending
Agreed...it honestly just ended perfectly..and that is a rarity in a show
Agreed
I really hope other authors get notes; the impact a show makes is so much bigger when they end things at the peak and not when we barely find it fun anymore.
And I. I almost had to put it out of my mind deliberately during the week because I didn't want to anticipate it too much but I loved the ending and you know in two days, it's crept up on me even more. I haven't watched it again yet. It's too soon.
@@biazacha like how the good place dragged the fun out?
They called the last episode "when you're ready" but man, none of us were ready to let them go
Darcy holding William legs and kristen holding William hands and Darcy and Kristen kiss. i love you guys
11:40. Goodbye to the Good Place. Great invu.

I want a show about michals life on earth soooo bad
Edit: holy forking shirtballs thanks for all the likes guys

MattShnoop it all comes back together
And tahani as an architect!!!!!
Omg YES PLEASE.
That scene certainly opens the door for a spinoff.
That finale had me sobbing more than anything has in a long time. What a treasure this show was and it ended so perfectly. I vote for an offshoot with Michael's life on Earth
IKR
There is so much spinoff potential. I’d love to see Michael’s life on earth (perhaps with some flashbacks that predate “The Good Place”). I’d also be interested in seeing what happens with Mindy St. Clair and how Tahani designs her test. I want to see more of the Judge, and definitely more Janet. I feel the worst for her out of anyone because she watched everyone move on. Even though she can relive her memories, I’m sure she still misses everyone.
I'm crying 6 months later watching this and reading these comments. Happy tears though.
I just finished the series today, and I cried so much. So I'm glad I'm not alone in that.
Jameela was inspired by Ted like how T’hani was inspired by Michael 😭
Yeah, I kinda notice that they were describing/toasting each other a little like they were in the show. Like the connections were similar.
I liked the ending it was how they all felt (spoiler) when they all wanted to leave the good place. I felt calm and the air in my lungs felt the way it did in the outside, calm. They didn't make it over hyped or too cheesy it was more of an ending like when people graduate for high school and leave their family.
I closed my eyes when chidi was describing the waves and I actually imagined it
@@subarashii2374 same 😂😂
And to be fair, there really is no other way it could have ended. Just like Cheers if you remember with Sam in the bar by himself. Its the perfect ending
"I felt calm and the air in my lungs felt the way it did in the outside, calm" that was the exact way I described it when I watched it! It ended beautifully
@@lilydeboef5339 Jason said it so beautifully. I'm halfway through the ending and I know I'd be crying more. Haha these spoilers dont make me feel as much, it still is the thrill of experiencing how they are going... Oh goshhh T_T T_T
Don't cry because it's over, be happy that it started.
I’m glad it’s over!! I loved this show in Season 1 and start of 2
But the last few episodes have been terrible
The finale was utter crap
Graham DIY Really? I thought it was great. Please tell me your side of the finale and why it didn’t work for you?
Graham DIY I rly liked it, why was it crapola?
Actionfan19
You’re just making me cry mORE
In the last episode I for real had sad nostalgia with the characters about the first season (back in the good old days) when their biggest problems were flying shrimp and knowing that’s gone and it’s all moved on was so sad
one of the saddest moments for sure was Jason running into the portal after chidi and saying "hey, chidi, wait up" literally sobbing
At first I was thinking Janet was all alone cause everyone left, but I realized Tahani is still technically there learning to be an architect. But what happens if she leaves? I mean eventually Micheal will come back, so I guess Janet won't be alone. Sometimes I wonder if Janet ever feels alone. I'm worried for my dear Janet :3
Nigelyn Cruz Same
I felt the same but then I remembered what Janet said about how she experienced time differently to humans so she's never really alone. Those friends are always with her all the time.
Mike Schur explained in the podcast that as Janet experiences all time at once, she does not ‘lose’ friends, but continues to experience their presence as actual. So that 8 million way tie of all the times Jason and her kissed, it’s happening simultaneously, forever, in 8 million simultaneous presents.
@@shangc2781 omg truuuuue! Oml what if she made people like Derek/the people in the village but that look just like them. Haha it would be like they "never left" lmaoo
@@LordHettrick omg riiiight, I haven't listened to the latest podcast yet... I already miss this show 😞
Manny said "beautifulness". That was so Jason :')
Please tell Seth that it's really rude of him to make me sob for another 11 minutes after I already wept my way through the 52 min long finale thanks.
i’d never heard Manny’s real voice (i binged the show right before this season started) until now and i’m shocked at how natural he made his Jason voice sound?? it was goofy but you believed it was real and it still had heart and emotion was able to be delivered through it which is HARD
also i really wish they got an hour to talk about the finale, 15 minutes wasn’t nearly enough
9:33 -Problematically objectify Ted Danson-

👌
she's all of us in that moment
i love her face at that moment, how resigned she was to what she was about to say bc it had to be said
The finale just crushed me, this show has been one of the most thought out and emotional show I have watched in a very long time.
Try This is Us, it’s beautiful ♥️
I'm not crying. I'm just allergic to how sad it is this show has ended.
Will Mellows same! I think we should both see a doctor
Saying this show is great doesn’t begin to cover it. I can’t even begin to sing my praise for this amazing show. It has so much heart.
Taylor all the best shows have like 3 series. All the worst ones have like 30. It makes no sense.
It’s surreal to hear “Jason” speak so coherently!
Sad it ended. Killer ending ✌

Hated to see them leave, but I luuuuuuved watching them walk away.

not ashamed to say, im a grown man and a cried like a baby. such a great show. just finished it today.
The ending was so emotional and so perfect for the show. Chidi’s wave speech really got me.
I rewatch watch it sometimes and it makes me cry everytime
Would have been awesome if they did one of these where they weren't so rushed on time. Where they actually got to hang out and really take their time with everything.
But that isn't what the show is all about. The whole thing was about their redemption, and they all redeemed themselves a season ago. Honestly, this show could have ended with them going into the Good Place, and I would have been happy. Them being in the Good Place was a nice cherry on top, to bring closure not only to us, but for the characters as well.
I know. I thought he would use the full show to talk to them. It was way too short! I wonder why? The show and the chemistry between the actors was incredible!

The whole cast always wears black and Kristen is always just hanging out in white or a bright color 😍
Micheal Shur (creator of good place) always kills finales. Parks and Rec, Good Place and The Office had amazing finales
I would have watched 10 seasons of this show but I also love that it only had 4. It had perfect closure. They didn’t try to drag it on, coming up with nonsensical storylines and ruining character development in the process. It ended when it needed to. More shows should do this model.
D'Arcy tearing up at the toasts ripped out my soul. I love them all so much.
This better be on the DVD
I tell ya I can't see it but I hope youre right.

What an absolute classy interview decision to stand back and let them publicly toast one another. I love it!
Manny is so sweet. His character is sweet and gentle and he is sweet and gentle in real life. Love that.
I JUST noticed, watching this for like the fourth time. D'Arcy Carden is wearing the J+J necklace that Jason made for Janet as a bracelet!

I cried at least 5 times watching this and am watching it again. I’m so sad that we’re losing an intelligent and hilarious show after 4 seasons
Michael will make something new, and it will be better than this. Now he knows there is a market for smart, witty, thoughtful, intelligent televsion with high production values. Just wait. He will surprise us all.
Kristen described it perfectly with the show ‘ending too soon’ and I appreciate how it made the series as a whole much better but I so want to see more of this group

First of all...how did everyone's tears get in my eyes?secondly...this is a series finale that I think most people were happy with...it wasn't too serious but it wasnt campy either...each character had their own send off that was appropriate for them (I'm looking at you Mendoza)....but what I found interesting is that the send offs were in reverse order of how we met them ie: meeting Elenore first and her leaving last and and so on...all and all it was a beautiful ending I think

Well since everybody's commenting, let me also say that I was a sobbing mess during the whole finale. I just cannot explain how much I love this show and the characters so much. I want to take up an ethics minor because of this show and I feel like I also grew up alongside them. For whatever reason, I only found The Good Place this month, and have LOVED it. Bottom line: It's so very brilliantly written with a ton of hysterical moments, both verbal and non-verbal. This show ranks in my heart as a top 10 in TV history!
Honestly really cool that the cast are so comfortable with each other that even in kissing scenes it's no problem for them. Like that's probably the best way to show you are comfortable with someone and that not only is acting a job but a way to make friends.
