After breaking into the US with the critically acclaimed comedy series The Good Place, she has been getting attention for her criticism of celebrities like the Kardashians for their promotion of diet products to millions of young women on social media. "Don't sell dangerous unregulated products to children "
    "Do not attribute your physique , that is down to a personal chef, personal trainer, surgeon, heavy use of photoshop which you never declare and pretend that you look like that because of some dogie powder" !!!

      She's got to ask the hard obnoxious questions so that Jameela can respond to them in the wonderful way she did. I honestly believe the interviewer was in full support of Jameela and what she is doing. I think that if she was too soft on her it wouldn't have been a great interview.

    It was a great interview, Jameela kept her ground while the interviewer was trying to talk about statements of 8/10 years ago. She cut her right there and did not allow her to make that the centre of the conversation. Totally agree with Jameela that celebrities like companies have a social responsibility because of their privileges, platforms and the way they profit from people idolising them. The least the should do is being honest. I recently discovered the I weigh platform and I am in love with this powerful woman!

    Great interview. @JameelaJamil you know what? I actually agree with the argument you made about Beyonce sexualizing her body. Why? Because she, like many other women celebrities, are victims of this system that wants women to expose their bodies, selling it for "freedom". Would she have gained the same success without her body being so sexualized? Yes, I'm sure she would, she has the talent. So what was the need for doing that? I think the point you made back then is still valid. I am Italian, therefore European, and I have relatives in the US, and I notice the difference between our beauty standards, between how I and my American cousins (same age) pose for Instagram selfies, or what outfits they and I wear. I'm sorry to say they think "horny" is sexy. And this overly sexualized body image issue has nothing to do with freedom. Women should be free to show off their body, if that's what they want, no argue about that. But sexualizing body, as the only to be "sexy"...to whom? To man. No, that's not freedom. It's a big fat lie. It's a trap. Choosing to expose our bodies to please ourselves is freedom, doing it to please audience (male mostly) is not. There is a difference.

    • @alannaamorim3247
      @alannaamorim3247 3 роки тому +5

      Jameela disagree with your statement, she just said that on the interview. The majority of Beyonce's audience is women, not men. By her lyrics you know to who she is singing too. Women should be free to do whatever they want with their bodies if it is their choice and Beyonce is pretty smart, rich and independent to do so.

    Great interview - just to say Zeinab Bedawi - is one of the most highly respected Black female journalists in Britain. Building her career on reporting Global political events - and usually interviewing world leaders and holding them accountable too. I think she was pretty gentle with Jameela Jamil - giving her an opportunity to clear up - why she is okay going after Kim K - and back tracking on her attacks on Beyoncé & Riri......really fascinating part of the interview.....Overall though two strong and intelligent women of colour - sharing the same platform? What a rarity! This should really be celebrated not viewed as combat.

    • @alannaamorim3247
      @alannaamorim3247 3 роки тому +9

      I didn't see opportunity, I saw an attack. Opportunity is when you give to the other person time to answer without being pressured or judged by it. Also, she already addressed this subjects over and over and over as she said. The interviewer chose to defend the Kardashian's clan instead of being concerned with young girls believing in their lies. Kardashian's use make up on their bellies, besides personal trainers, money to eat healthy, nutritionists, plastic surgery and etc... And the interviewer defended their rights to lie to society saying they get beautiful by using their fake products. Come on... I totally support women together, but this is not what happened here.

    Please do not rush the people being interviewed. It is even stressful to listen to.
    Less is more. Nevertheless I appreciate the interviewing lady.

    Jameela did wonderfully! The interviewer seemed short-sighted and obtuse in her delivery and questioning.

    Zeinab Badawi is an experienced journalist and interviewer. It is called HARD talk for a reason. She isn't there to do the usual soft interview mostly done with celebs and politicians. Jemeela responded very well and in fact I don't think it was harsh at all. This is how interviewers in the UK are.

      That interviewer may well be all those things you said...BUT it didn't come off that way. Especially the "I am just putting it out there" comment about Chloe Kardashian. It seemed like she was there to defend the Mega Stars that her guest had said things about, and make her the villain if it transpired that she couldn't explain her motivations as eloquently as Jameela, thankfully, is able to do. The whole thing felt very tabloid-y to me.

      @@reginanegra I agree..
      And imo, "hard" talk could be about asking the "hard" questions. Not interrupting time after time asking groundless questions, answered years ago already.

    I got the feeling the interviewer respected her a lot, she tried to bring her down and Jameela was one step a head at every turn, it looked to me as though the interviewer was impressed with her.
