I'm jumpimg the gun a bit, in that I've got a 2023 Yaris Cross Hybrid comming in a few months and I added the 9" Infotainment system and I asked about adding front facing camera, to which Toyota replied that they have an issue at present and doesn't work. I then asked if there is an RCA connection, to connect a BirdsEye View ( with 4 cameras on a dvr), but they don't know if it exists. Have you had the occasion to look into this? Thanks.
No Toyota that I’m aware of has RCA connections. The Birds Eye view system has cameras under the mirrors, front grill and rear view. It is all integrated

More than likely, you've plugged into a charging outlet and not the data port. They look the same and are both USB ports but the one that flows data has the symbol with three arrows. The others have a little lightning bolt. On the 2024 Camry, the data port is the one on the bottom of the center stack, just in front of the shot lever. The charge ports are in the console box between the seats.
Thanks for your suggestion regarding USB music. I took it to a Toyota Dealer close to home. First, the service advisor said That Camry does not have that. however, I told him about the discussion with you and he said I would do the right order. Now it's fixed USB 2.0 works but not 3.0. Steve, my 2023 Toyota Crown shows on the MID screen a small digital speedometer (lower right) in KLM and not MPH. How do I change? The larger speedometer (middle of MID) is in MPH and my settings show MPH. Thanks. I’m learning much from your videos (my local dealership is clueless) and I love the Crown!

I picked up my new RAV4 in the UK 6 days ago. I’ve been trying to register a driver profile ever since, and failed to get it working without having to re register every time I start up. Great car, but the whole registration thing is a horrible convoluted mess, and I can’t be bothered with it. What happened to the days when you could just get in a car and drive it.
The European app is nearly identical to the US one and what you're describing shouldn't be happening. Something doesn't sound right. You get the blue language screen to register the car every time you start it? If so, take it to the dealer. If you're just talking about getting the profiles to be recognized, then that is something different. I'd start by asking if you are sure your Bluetooth is on and your app is open on your phone.

4:35PM The multimedia system supports setting up three profiles. I was able to setup the Primary Profile, but I couldn’t set up the other two profiles. I found a UA-cam video created by Toyota regarding profiles, but it didn’t show how to create the two additional profiles. I went into my local Toyota dealer for help and they said my wife and I can’t share the same app. We also can’t share the same email. They had me download another Toyota app to my iPhone so I could create another account using a different email than my wife. Once I did that I was able to create a second profile. Unfortunately, I don’t have another phone and another email to create the third profile. Is there another way that a user can create three profiles?
Kinda. You can create another account and log into that one when you want to use another profile. Log out of your app and then click "register." Create a new account using a different email. Then use that to make a new profile in the car. The obvious down side is that you need to keep switching accounts on the phone when you use it for different profiles but it will do what you're asking.
Hello - recently got 2023 RAV4 XLE Ruby Flair ❤. Our 2019 Camry had the older media screen so trying to get used to this brand new screen. My question is can you make the main screen not so bright white - I try dimming the switch but goes back to bright. I am 75 and this brightness hurts my eyes and I find very distracting 😎. Apple Carplay is nice and colorful lol
I’m guessing you’re talking about at night. The screen stays bright, right? It is in day mode. Look at the dimmer wheel on the left side of the dash. It is in the full up position. Turn it just slightly down. You’ll feel it go past a slight detent. Now, the daytime brightness will be at full but at night, it will change to night mode and be easier on your eyes

Hey Steve, great videos you’ve posted. I’ve gone through them and still no luck on my end. I bought a 22 tundra used and it’s been a headache connecting this thing over the past two months. I’ve spent 6+ hours on the phone with Toyota on several occasions. This Monday I’m supposed to drop it off at the dealer and they are telling me they might be charging me to fix this. Seems too simple for a tech savvy guy. Main problem - vehicle won’t provide a we code. What I also see is that in the settings page..above personal info. There is no guest profile or any profile .. any thoughts there. When I go to remote connect I see a pop up that says data services disabled..
The previous owner is likely still connected to it or they declined service. The people at the 800 number probably checked that and they require a copy of your buyers order before they do anything. You might be able to reset it yourself though. Hit the settings tab and then the “personal info” tab. Then got reset settings. That might do it. Then, turn off your phone’s Bluetooth and restart the truck. Without putting my hands on it myself, that’s the best I can suggest. It is essential that you turn off Bluetooth before restarting the truck. Hope this helps

You're not the first I've heard this from. I have not personally tried this, but my guys tell me they have seen this and have figured out a fix. Try plugging it into the USB-C port in front of the dash. That will create a tethered (wired) Android auto connection. Then, unplug it and go to the Bluetooth settings menu. The Android Auto button should now appear. I don't understand why you need a wired connection first but apparently, you do. Keep in mind that the 2023 Corolla does not have a regular USB port now. It has the USB-C port so you might need a new cord or an adapter to make it work. Let me know if this works. Like I said, I have not personally done this but I have heard that it works.
Was in the grocery store in all of a sudden the radio from my car started playing on my cell phone. Had to turn my phone off in order for it to stop playing. When I got to the car my phone was no longer connected. Turned the car off turned the car on, still nothing. Got a call and it did not transfer to the car. Help!
Thank you for this video. Do you know how to turn on the sound on the Toyota's navigation (on a Yaris Cross), so that it tells you e.g. when to turn left? So far my navigation is silent and I cannot find any option to turn on the voice. The radio plays OK though when turned on.
We don't have the Yaris Cross in the US so I'm not sure which system it uses or if it is even the same as any that we have here. On our other systems, there are different ways to get into the settings. It is possible but without getting my hands on your vehicle, I really can't tell you the procedure.

I just figured out what you meant. On the CarPlay screen, there is a black icon that says “Toyota.” It looks like an app but it isn’t. It takes to back to the vehicle controls like the radio and settings
Nav is a factory option on the XLE. Either it has it out it doesn’t. There is no subscription. The “map” button on the dash will pull up the maps from your phone as long as you’re tethered and have activated Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The sienna has an older system than the one I’m demonstrating in this video and it must be plugged into the data port to work
I have a 2025 xse camry I absolutely love my car, however, i am not impressed that the big head unit isnt capable of splitting the map and the radio like android auto and apple car play. If this is possible, how? where am i going wrong in the setup process. it is a pain in the ass evertime i want to change sources of music and cant see what i am shifting to because it is not on the screen.

Yes. Unless your Highlander came with the 12.3” screen, Drive Connect is not included in your free trials. Even with the big screen, it only includes 1 year free. After that, it is $15/month and is bundled with Remote Connect. This is why the wireless CarPlay is so popular.

You had to establish a PIN when you originally set up your app. You can allay reset it in the app. Hit the little person pic in the upper right, hit “account” and then “security settings” and you’ll see an option to reset your PIN
When I start my 2023 Rav 4 Prime I always get a message that says Toyota would like to communicate with the Toyota Multimedia Toyota Rav 4. I have select Allow or Ignore. If I Allow I am directed to Toyota app. Is there a way for the vehicle to not ask me this every time? Thank you.

The 2019 is a very different system. No QR code. Go to the app and add vehicles and just enter the VIN. Hopefully, the previous owner isn’t still connected to it. If they are, you need to call Toyota at 800-331-4331 out of you bought it at a Toyota dealer, they can remove the previous owner. You’re past the free trials but you can buy the services you want

Hi Steve. I traded in my 2021 Rav4 prime for a 2023 Rav4 prime. Dealer and I set it all up with no issues. But, I can not find a way to program a "Home" location button. I have read the multimedia book and followed directions on page 121 but the screen that comes up is not the same in the book. I have tried toyota help to no avail and my deal is stumped. Any ideas?
That's a great question and I'm working on getting an answer because I couldn't figure it out either. Keep in mind that that the navigation is under the "Drive Connect" feature which means you have a 1 year subscription. It is not a permanent feature. Most customers end up using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto which uses the maps on your phone. Those are easy to set home and other frequent destinations. I'll post more when I get a better answer for the Drive Connect home setting.
Okay... I figured it out. On your app, look at the bottom right corner of the main screen. There are 5 icons across the bottom of the screen and the one on the right is a destination pin. Click that and then select the tile ""Destinations." You'll see that you have to option to set up home and work addresses plus favorites. That's where you manage them and it syncs with the vehicle. Again though, this is part of the cloud based system that you have a 1 year subscription to .
Depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you want just want another profile, just sign up for a fresh account with the app and then pair your phone. Your preferences (mostly just radio presets) will show up when you are connected. If you're looking to have a second phone with remote start and vehicle location, you have to use a duplicate login to the primary owner. Use the primary owner's phone number and have them tell you the code that generates. It isn't ideal but that's how it works. The system was not set up for multiple phones to have control of the main features.
I will clarify (now that I have driven the car. LOL). How do you add a driver. My husband shows as primary but do I log into his account and then add me. I am added as a driver through the toyota account but I can’t get me added to it as a driver.
@@cherylburnham6660 As far as I've figured out (and I could be wrong but I don't think so), you have a choice of either having access to the remote start and locator or having a customized profile for yourself (mostly just radio presets). If you use his account on the app, you have the remote start. If you have your own account, you will have your own profile. I have not found a way to have both. Now... you can have your own Bluetooth connection and switching that is easy. Just connect your device and select it. There is a difference between a driver profile and a Bluetooth device.
This is a very specific video that applies to Toyotas from the 2023 model year or newer. Not sure what you're trying to do but if you have no BT or USB, I'm not sure how this video could help.

@@nanee92012 Do you mean connect your Toyota account with a vehicle that is older without one of these systems? That can be done. It doesn't do a lot for you but it at least gives you the service history and will notify you of recalls. Just hit "add vehicle" and put in the VIN. That will attach it to your account, but again, there are no connected features associated with it.
While it is kind of impressive, the system has one key element unless you use Android or Apple apps...with a HUGE 14" display why can't I see the map and see the music info (song or station info) at the same time. Maybe they will fix this but I just purchased a 2023 Sequoia and it is one of the major disappointments for me with the vehicle (and my list is small so it looms large). I'm not going to use my phone to play Sirius XM or terrestrial radio.
I assume the designers figured once you know what's playing, you don't need to keep it up there. You can set the instrument cluster to display the audio info, but that helps you and not the passengers.

If you start with BT off, it does simplify a little but its isn’t a big deal. Just reset of it detects a profile

Strangely, that small readout will always be opposite of your speedometer. Switch the speedo to kmh and that small one will read mph

Those older radios were pretty stable. If it’s rebooting, there is as high chance it will need to be replaced. Wish I had better news on that

Hey Steve, I just bought a 2022 Sienna XLE . I as wondering if it has NAV installed but not usable unless purchased?
Nav is a factory option on the XLE. Either it has it out it doesn’t. There is no subscription. The “map” button on the dash will pull up the maps from your phone as long as you’re tethered and have activated Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The sienna has an older system than the one I’m demonstrating in this video and it must be plugged into the data port to work

I have a 2025 xse camry I absolutely love my car, however, i am not impressed that the big head unit isnt capable of splitting the map and the radio like android auto and apple car play. If this is possible, how? where am i going wrong in the setup process. it is a pain in the ass evertime i want to change sources of music and cant see what i am shifting to because it is not on the screen.
@@shawndavis9349 no split screen I’m afraid. Use the “mode” button on the steering wheel and the stores to go up and down through your presets

Does it require network coverage to take you to the sign in page? Cause mine doesnt, and was wandering if thats due to lqck of network coverage

Hello Steve! HELP! My system will not let me enter home and work addresses. When I push destinations they are greyed out. When I ask Hey Toyota it says it is not a service allowed to guests. However it says primary driver under my name.

Hi Steve. My question is how can I activate the navigation on toyota highlander? When I hit get started, I receive a message and download the app and then it goes to the subscriptions page, do I have to purchase paid services in order to use that function? thank you
Yes. Unless your Highlander came with the 12.3” screen, Drive Connect is not included in your free trials. Even with the big screen, it only includes 1 year free. After that, it is $15/month and is bundled with Remote Connect. This is why the wireless CarPlay is so popular.

Hi Steve, I took my new Rav4 XSE Hybrid in for a clear bra and when i got it back, i went to my profile and noticed it was logged in with a Guest. I clicked on my name and it asked for a pin but I don't remember setting one up? What should I do? Thank you!
You had to establish a PIN when you originally set up your app. You can allay reset it in the app. Hit the little person pic in the upper right, hit “account” and then “security settings” and you’ll see an option to reset your PIN
Why does the radio turn off after 10 minutes of listening to music with out the tundra being on?
When I start my 2023 Rav 4 Prime I always get a message that says Toyota would like to communicate with the Toyota Multimedia Toyota Rav 4. I have select Allow or Ignore. If I Allow I am directed to Toyota app. Is there a way for the vehicle to not ask me this every time? Thank you.

The 2019 is a very different system. No QR code. Go to the app and add vehicles and just enter the VIN. Hopefully, the previous owner isn’t still connected to it. If they are, you need to call Toyota at 800-331-4331 out of you bought it at a Toyota dealer, they can remove the previous owner. You’re past the free trials but you can buy the services you want

Hi Steve. I traded in my 2021 Rav4 prime for a 2023 Rav4 prime. Dealer and I set it all up with no issues. But, I can not find a way to program a "Home" location button. I have read the multimedia book and followed directions on page 121 but the screen that comes up is not the same in the book. I have tried toyota help to no avail and my deal is stumped. Any ideas?
That's a great question and I'm working on getting an answer because I couldn't figure it out either. Keep in mind that that the navigation is under the "Drive Connect" feature which means you have a 1 year subscription. It is not a permanent feature. Most customers end up using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto which uses the maps on your phone. Those are easy to set home and other frequent destinations.
I'll post more when I get a better answer for the Drive Connect home setting.
Okay... I figured it out. On your app, look at the bottom right corner of the main screen. There are 5 icons across the bottom of the screen and the one on the right is a destination pin. Click that and then select the tile ""Destinations." You'll see that you have to option to set up home and work addresses plus favorites. That's where you manage them and it syncs with the vehicle. Again though, this is part of the cloud based system that you have a 1 year subscription to .

No. There is a QR code reader built into the Toyota app that you use to register your account.
So how do you add another person to someone’s account or do you set up your own account?
Depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you want just want another profile, just sign up for a fresh account with the app and then pair your phone. Your preferences (mostly just radio presets) will show up when you are connected. If you're looking to have a second phone with remote start and vehicle location, you have to use a duplicate login to the primary owner. Use the primary owner's phone number and have them tell you the code that generates. It isn't ideal but that's how it works. The system was not set up for multiple phones to have control of the main features.
I will clarify (now that I have driven the car. LOL). How do you add a driver. My husband shows as primary but do I log into his account and then add me. I am added as a driver through the toyota account but I can’t get me added to it as a driver.
@@cherylburnham6660 As far as I've figured out (and I could be wrong but I don't think so), you have a choice of either having access to the remote start and locator or having a customized profile for yourself (mostly just radio presets). If you use his account on the app, you have the remote start. If you have your own account, you will have your own profile. I have not found a way to have both.
Now... you can have your own Bluetooth connection and switching that is easy. Just connect your device and select it. There is a difference between a driver profile and a Bluetooth device.

This is a very specific video that applies to Toyotas from the 2023 model year or newer. Not sure what you're trying to do but if you have no BT or USB, I'm not sure how this video could help.
I was just simply asking if there was a way or how I could connect it without a USB or Bluetooth connection. I apologize that I wasn't aware that you did not know. Please forgive my stupidity.
@@nanee92012 Do you mean connect your Toyota account with a vehicle that is older without one of these systems? That can be done. It doesn't do a lot for you but it at least gives you the service history and will notify you of recalls. Just hit "add vehicle" and put in the VIN. That will attach it to your account, but again, there are no connected features associated with it.

Yes, but the usb port is now USB-C so you’ll either need the correct USB drive or a plug conversion
While it is kind of impressive, the system has one key element unless you use Android or Apple apps...with a HUGE 14" display why can't I see the map and see the music info (song or station info) at the same time. Maybe they will fix this but I just purchased a 2023 Sequoia and it is one of the major disappointments for me with the vehicle (and my list is small so it looms large). I'm not going to use my phone to play Sirius XM or terrestrial radio.
I assume the designers figured once you know what's playing, you don't need to keep it up there. You can set the instrument cluster to display the audio info, but that helps you and not the passengers.

I’m having a problem on getting my digital key , a car Of 50k+ with all this complicated setup . Disappointed
I have several videos of the digital key but honestly, it is a difficult and quirky system. Most people do eventually get it to work and once they do, it works well, but it takes a while to get set up correctly. Search my channel for the videos on digital key.
