    This house is a sweet, unique design and works well for this young woman. The idea of being able to open up the doors and have a big living area just off the kitchen that is weather protected is awesome. A great design. I like it a lot. Congratulations on a job well done.

    Those Dutch! One of the best countries for k-12 and higher education. Far ahead of much of the world; efficient, not more than you need 1- more time for self, constructive projects and community. Her tiny house is such a strong example of who she has become. I would like to live in this house. Meets all my needs and my communities. Please visit her again in 5 years. Best.

    Neat place. I like the kitchen tile and the ability to open the French doors to allow for more room if you need it. The couch looks like it might get a bit hot directly in front of the furnace.

    Thanks for sharing! I’m fascinated with her floor plan. Maybe it’s so fresh because she wasn’t influenced by looking at other tiny houses 🤔. Way to think outside the usual box!! I look forward to seeing this home again when it’s more established.

    The warm kitchen tiles plus the plants and the landscape views out the windows look so homey and beautiful! 😍🪴🔥 Even though Iris designed this on such a short timeline, she incorporated some of the design tricks and must-haves I've landed on after YEARS researching and planning my dream tiny house. 😄 Kudos!
    - A window view from everywhere you spend the most time (couch, kitchen, desk, sitting up in bed) 😃🌳🌤🌿
    - Windows facing each other on opposite walls to visually expand the space (a mirror across from a window can also do this : - )
    - A true "front" door placed to create a public and private side of the house
    - Bedroom closet on public side of house for sound insulation and better sleep
    - Higher windows on the public-facing side, lower ones for the back
    - At least one tall window or glass door that starts at the floor for indoor/outdoor connection feeling (LOVE the super tall window by the couch that's visible the whole length of the house! 😍)
    - At least one long counter (or in her case loooooong 😄) for functionality and to visually expand the space
    - A first-floor bedroom for daily ease and ability to continue enjoying the home with injury or age
    - A bathroom next to the sleeping area and away from the common spaces for guests' comfort and privacy
    - A storage "attic" over the bathroom since it's where ceiling height matters least
    - Foregoing wheels/building wider if you know you don't actually want to frequently move your home
    Thank you for sharing your home, Iris! Wishing you and your cute dog much happiness in it! 😃💖🍀

    Beautiful home. I like the translucent siding on the outside of the house, the long kitchen counter and the red tiles. Great layout of how the space is divided. Minimalist and clean.

    💯♥️🇨🇦🧕🧑‍🌾 Hello there. I am a Canadian Muslim revert farm girl living in Nova Scotia Canada. I just found your channel and I subscribed as well. This build is absolutely amazing! I have wanted to live in a tiny house for decades. 4 years ago we sold our house in Ontario Canada and started hunting on the East Coast, specifically Nova Scotia. There weren't any tiny houses available but for one. Sadly it was very overpriced and half of the land was actually a marsh and a stream. I am giggling here as I say that now we are in 1500 square foot, 120 year old old farmhouse. I guess this is what God wants for me. The property we are on is the first established farm on this road and the family was called Tuttle. funny enough the farm down the road was also bought by people from Ontario and they were also from the Tuttle family. We are a Muslim family and they are a Sikh family. The other gal and myself call ourselves the Tuttle girls. I also have a magnificent rooster whom I call Tuttle.😂😂😂 After saying all of this my fascination with tiny houses has not waned one little bit. We now have 130 acres that we can work with and I hope to be able to put some tiny houses here and share our beautiful land and gift with other people. My husband's family is from Sudan as is he. Right now they are dispersed in five different countries in three different continents, because of the war. We also have a home in Sudan and hope that one day we will be able to return to it, and that it still exists. In shaa Allah.
    Now, back to this girl and her beautiful build. One thing I noticed about her build is that she must absolutely love being outside most of the time her bathroom, while minimal, is absolutely perfect. The same goes with her bedroom. Nothing fancy but there is a lot of storage. Her kitchen is absolutely amazing! Opening up to the outside is a fantastic idea! The living room is small but it serves the purpose of being able to snuggle up when it's cold since we can see that she spends most of her time outdoors. This build reflects so much about this young woman and she has such a pleasing demeanor and I think that anyone would be very blessed to have her as a neighbour.
    Please forgive all of my rambling as I am sitting here all alone while my husband is across the country in Alberta working. My day consists of going outside to our ducks and chickens and are beautiful Great Pyrenees dog, Juru. Juru is Arabic for puppy. He is my best friend. Alhamdulillah.

    I don't understand her explanation about square footage for the built in patio area. That was very unique.

    • @AlternativeHouse
      @AlternativeHouse  20 годин тому +4

      Outdoor space doesn’t count as part of the house’s square footage. This means the patio isn’t included in the total SqFt, allowing her to build a longer house than would have been possible if the terrace were enclosed as a room.

      @AlternativeHouse outstanding:) thank you for your answer. I'm building 2 '40 footers stacked horizontally and her build gave me a great idea for the second floor!

    Greetings. What is the material that you used on the floor and what did you use on it in the shower to make it shiny? Is the floor easy to clean and is it warm to the feet, unlike concrete can be? Did you add color to your kitchen clay tiles when mixing? They are beautiful. I’m really impressed with the whole build and design of finishes. Were the green kitchen cabinets premade and purchased off site? Is it possible to know the vendor, if so and color? The green is a complementary color to the rest of your material choices. It’s the green color, along with the orange tiles that really warm the space. Is your community open for pre organized small tours? I am on another continent but when I’m next in the Netherlands I would be interested to viewing a community like yours and hearing about its history. I recently attended a straw bale self built home community open house here and learned so much. People are eager and thirsty to learn alternative building practices and living communities. I dream of healthier, safer and more sustainable living circumstances. Best.

    Like the recessed front door.
    Prefer L-shaped couch instead of the 2-seater with the long-side over the heater, i.e. move the heat / A/C unit to a different wall.

    I like your home however, the design is not what I would choose. Is that wood stove not overkill? It looks so big. Your kitchen is great. Love all your big windows! Best wishes.

      Yes the stove is a bit over kill indeed. But its also a good stove to have a small and controlled fire. So in the end its okey. I like it even though it a bit to big

    • @SRKIMMIE
      @SRKIMMIE 3 години тому +1

      She actually explained why the stove is so large in that she tried to save some money and that one was a cheap fine for her, perhaps in the future she will change her mind and put a smaller one as she wants to put a larger sofa but I think that her main goal is to heat the entire house and also to save money. I don't think she is a person who spends a lot of time inside and lounging around on a couch. She also explained that while she puts the fire in she lets it go down lower because the encasement is Stone therefore heating up the stone and she can let the fire go down more and it can have a slow warm heat rather than a big flaming fire.

      Perhaps you’ve forgotten that when you watch these videos, you’re looking at someone’s home.
      Please try to remember you’re a guest and, as such, you should be kind.
      And please don’t double down on your unkind comment.
