- Spaghetti al Pomodoro translates to spaghetti with tomato sauce. It’s a classic Italian dish that I love creating when I’m short on time but I still want to be transported to Nonna’s house. This 15-minute recipe produces the most flavor-rich sauce and the key is using fresh, ripe tomatoes and aromatic basil.
If you can believe it, tomatoes weren’t mixed into pasta until the 1800s! Before that, pasta was eaten plain or only with cheese. I love eating it both ways but once you try this dish you might even prefer it over slow cooked sauce. Let me know what your favourite 15-minute pasta recipe is.

I always say that food should be easy and this is simplicity at its best. Would you use cherry tomatoes or peeled tomatoes for this recipe?
No blending for me - I don’t want an orange sauce from whipping in air. I would try a food mill for a smooth sauce.

Cherry tomatoes *always*! Not even a question, for me at least. Peeled tomatoes is an option only if there were no [fresh] cherry tomatoes available.

I cooked this yesterday. The only change I made is that instead of using blender I cooked it for a long time over low heat, adding some pasta water in the process, as tomato liquid was slowly evaporating. This worked amazingly well, the sauce was very creamy and flavorful. Greatly exceeded my expectations.

I made this yesterday too. Instead of the tomato I used steak and replaced the spaghetti with french fries.
Tomato, basil, and garlic are the perfect team. Flavor, bit of sharpness, sweetness.

I remember having an Italian friend, who invited my brother and I for dinner once. His mom made us some home-made ravioli and pasta sauce...she had to take the plates away from us because we almost ate the actual plate with the meal. Home-made Italian food is absolutely divine! @@vincenzosplate The same as you, just without blending the sauce, though i think i will try it. I cant remember if i got the recipe from you or Pasta Grammar but i have also made your variation with mascapone. That version is now my mum's favourite pasta dish. So simple, yet so delicious :D
@@vincenzosplate I'd recommend to cook the tomato sauce for at least 30 minutes to release a special taste and chemicals.
Impossible to not fall in love with Vincenzo's content, food is important, he is funny, the atmosphere of the videos is calm, warm and welcoming. Just brilliant. I just wanna say this pasta turned out INCREDIBLE!!
The only changes that I’ve done was the tomatos, I used vine instead of cherry tomatoes!
We also used grana padano freshly grated!
We also did chicken milanese and salad to go with it, it turned out SO GOOD!!!!!

Ahh yes Ive done this a lot. I always add pecorino though. And I grow my own cherry tomatoes. Mine are yellow however as they are less acidic. Still taste amazing

That was my first spaghetti that I made in my life pretty similar. As for a student it was quick, affordable, tasty, full of flavours. As you said I used peeled tomatoes. But now I will follow this recipe as I like your videos an recipes 🙂Grazie Vincenzo.
