Installing a Harbor Freight Backhoe Thumb
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- A new tool for me! A Harbor Freight Backhoe. I immediately added a thumb. This allows me to pick up things, like logs, which I can then put on the short bunks on my Woodland Mills HM122 Sawmill.

Well… that’s pretty clever Mike.
Awesome! I wanted to add a hydraulic thumb to my HF Backhoe when I purchased it a few months back. I even looked at the one you linked in your comments. But, at that time, I couldn't afford the hydraulic thumb, let alone all the extras I would have to purchase in order to make the hydraulics of the thumb work. So, I purchased a much cheaper non-hydraulic version, which had to be cut down modified because I couldn't find one the right size.
I would love to see a video of you installing the hydraulics for your thumb once you have it to install.
Well done Mike.
Nice work! Another idea is to add some hydraulic wheels to the end of each stand so you can wheel the machine around faster. 💡😆
great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
What sizes are your hydraulic cylinders? 30-50-60 or 40-70-80?
Im trying to make one my own
I don't know. I will need to figure out how they are measured and measure them.
What is the length of the thumb and who is thee manufacturing?
18 inch, Mophorn
Mophorn 18" Hydraulic Backhoe Thumb, 1/2" Thickness Heavy Duty Excavator Thumb, Black Steel Weld On Thumb Attachments with Hydraulic Cylinder, Mechanical Hydraulic Thumb for Backhoe/Excavator a.co/5ATLozK
I looked through your videos, but don't see an update on this. Did you ever get the hydraulics connected for this thumb?
I have not yet. It's going to cost a few hundred bucks. Control valve and a few hoses, and some quick connects.
I've been asking around if there is an old valve sitting in the corner of a barn, but haven't found a used one yet.
How has the bolting on of the thumb worked out? I might be welding mine. Think I would want to see a crush sleeve for bolt for strength.
Where did you get the hydraulic thumb from
Amazon. a.co/d/gkEBx1B It was about $50 cheaper a year ago. There may be others that are cheaper today.
