Riiiiight… like that time Mystique gave birth to a fuzzy blue teleporter and instantly gave him to the Munich Circus.
Or that time she gave birth to a kid with no mutant powers and abandoned him to his abusive, animalistic father, leading to her child’s life long hatred of mutants and work on the Sentinel program
Or that time she adopted a girl who could kill by touch and yet did nothing to be a proper legal guardian, to the point Rogue didn’t even know Mystique adopted her.
I feel there was a missed opportunity for a joke like "Rogue isn't only her adoptive daughter, but also the first class will be taking with this build." or something like that.
I'm pretty sure I could do better at being worse. That's why my friends don't let me get close to their babies.
Or the time she literally took a bullet for her father figure who immediately abandoned her because she wasn't a mutant any more. Poor parenting runs in both directions
I thought that none mutant kid worked at super virus that was going to kill all mutants but mutated to kill only normal humans.
For the record I only wanted the 90's X men cartoon.

Fun fact: due to the wording of Changeling's +1 to a stat, it can be added to Charisma, as it does not say "Any other" it just says "any". So, you could get a +3 to Charisma, with an 18 at level 1 via standard array.

This has since been corrected in a later errata. You can no longer stack charisma as a changling

Those dead-on impressions make me think that Tulok is a real-life shapeshifter. Like I thought Chris Evans was there for the captain impression.
I'm not sure who you were talking about at 2:18 but my mind heard "Spyro" at first and now I wanna see a Spyro build even though that's...just a dragon, basically.

Mostly I don't know how you make a character that's already basically a creature in the game when there aren't(?) ways to customize dragons to the same extent that you can customize the usual playable races. At least as far as my basic self understands DnD (which is, admittedly, not very far at all)

I have not heard "blue" since I was a child and that song has been stuck in the bsck of my head and could never figure out what song it was till this vid. You cured the phantom noise in my head!
So I bet that the "Gunner" feat makes Tulok happy. No need to reflavor crossbows into guns now as there is a feat to give proficiency and guns are DMG.
I mean, most of the stuff in the DMG is optional. Reflavoring crossbows into guns is what you do when the DM thinks guns are too strong but likes the flavour of a gun toting shapeshifter
Swap a couple rogue levels for some druid for comic/X-Men Evolution Mystique, as those versions can also turn into animals within certain limitations.
I'd have considered Mastermind as well considering her talents as a field commander of the Brotherhood and trickster but she is a heck of an assassin too. I wouldn't fault anyone for picking either one for her
disguise kit is actually not as redundant as you think for changeling, it instead makes sure you cover your bases as shapechange doesn't change clothes. a disguise kit check might help you make sure you dress right for the person your impersonating, or if the person has piercings it could have fake ones to use. I even added weavers tools to make my own clothes for disguises on my monk changeling
It also would counter true sight, since they would just see the makeup and such you used on your face, nothing behind them..
Changeling Assassin. Like, there are a few characters that can go different ways but I think Mystique is pretty straight-forward.
New Unearthed Arcana Feat: Eldritch Adept - pick a Warlock invocation of your choice. "Mask of Many Faces" cast disguise self as a cantrip unlimited uses per day.
Creative use of Mask of Many Faces is so fun. Especially if you’re a small character.
In a medieval setting, basically everyone ignores young children. Servants bring their kids to the castle and they have free run of most places.

This is a very cool build. I mean they all are. These are my favourite thing on the internet/ but I especially enjoyed this one. I watched it again straight away.
Ah I see, keeping in line with the movie version. If you ever do an alternative build, druid/monk would also be an option for a more shapeshiftery Mystique

Infiltration Expertise isn't redundant, it's a fast way to create new personas to shift into.
But you can only shape-shift into people you've seen, and Infiltration Expertise says your new identity can't be someone who exists.
I totally want to see Tulok play this build to see how masterful he is at impersonation.

I'm a huge X-Men fan and I loved seeing you tackle two of my favorite (sort of) villains from the franchise this week. Hoping to see you get around to Cyclops and Mr. Sinister eventually.
I’m waiting to see his take on Cyclops, I’m hoping to run an X Men campaign, if I had to guess Variant Human, Bard with magic initiate to get Eldritch blast
Has the High Ground He’s got a pattern going where he never picks Human as the race for any Marvel Mutant characters. For Scott I feel like Half Elf is the easy answer, the extra skills would be in character seeing as he’s such a tryhard. Plus Half Elves are just good. They’re probably the second most optimizy race after V.Human. Lots of blasty powers could sub in for the laser face and I could see Tulok trying to grab a variety of them, but Eldritch Blast is probably the most accurate since Scott’s beams are referred to in canon as concussive force and EB is force damage. I could honestly see going for at least a couple of actual warlock levels to get some EB boosting evocations, the only problem is none of the patrons really suit him. Then his leadership and tactician skills are the next most important thing to grab. I could defiantly see using some Bard levels for that but I also think going Mastermind Rogue for the long range bonus action Help is almost perfect for him. That way he can literally issue commands to the team every turn.

Little late, shapechanger allows you to take any humanoid form of medium size, you cannot replicate a form you haven't seen, but you can have a totally unique form. in their lore, they typically have a bunch of throwaway personalities called masks and a main one called a persona, almost none of which are just copies of someone else
Now I wanna see a Queen Chrysalis build.
You could totally get enough footage of Spiral if you mix the 90s X-Men cartoon with some spicy Children of the Atom gameplay

How did you not add two levels of warlock? I know at will disguise self sounds redundant at first but you need it so you can replicate the appearance of clothes.

To be honest, Mystique doesn't really have much in the way of weapons, just brawling and bows (guns). That being said, she has no weaknesses either.
All of her stats are pretty average overall, besides her high charm.

Btw the floating stat bump can also be put in charisma.
Before I start this video, I'm guessing Changling Rogue with either a dash of Druid or Monk thrown in for flavor.

Yeah Mystique is %100 rogue. The only reasons for the monk dip is unarmored and kicks, cause she does those a lot.
NoodleKeeper I thought he would dip into some type of spell casting to get polymorph. I will say though that I was almost there with my mono class prediction.

I don't think I quite understood the point of that Monk level. Was it to allow her to go unarmored whilst keeping her AC decent?

I feel like a lot of the Assassin abilities arent exactly redundant. Still a bit less of a boost, with you being a changeling. But they kind of smooth out any possible rough edges you might have had, were you just a changeling. Hell, even Disguise Kit proficiency helps, because changelings dont factor clothes/gear into their shifting. Just their body. So being good at setting up the rest of the disguise is actually helpful. And Infiltration/Imposter are good for assuring your disguises are top-notch, even in edge cases where the changeling ability falters.
