Hey Phil, just wanted to let you know I had a dream last night that you moved to my city and posted on the local subreddit looking for advice because a family of possums was waging a neverending war against you in your new home and you had to construct a rudimentary suit of armor and weapons from household objects to fend off their increasingly organized and intelligent threats but the tide was turning and there was only so long you could hold them off and they had trapped you in a closet and you were down to your last coathanger dagger but all you wanted to know was if anyone knew a good Mexican place nearby that would deliver to the window in your closet because you had a suspicion the possums had a deep rooted evolutionary fear of beans. Anyway, hope you're having a good day!
Contagion was unfortunately (though probably for the best) nerfed in an errata, making it so that when you hit them with a melee spell attack they are instead poisoned, and if they fail 3 con saves then you get to apply the disease. That's a minimum of 3 rounds before the effect actually happens by which point the enemy may be close to dead anyway, if it happens at all.
Still, they're poisoned for the entire effect with no save, the saves are just against gaining the disease effect. Poisoned's a pretty nasty condition (when the enemy's not actually immune to it...)
@@Pomlithe Yeah, but all poisoned does is give disadvantage on attacks, and at the level you get contagion the things you're fighting almost certainly have the ability to force saving throws for effects way scarier than an attack.
@@MHAL Maybe, yeah. But disadvantage on all attacks and ability checks isn't *bad.* Forcing a creature to rely on, say, spell slots or recharge abilities is a pretty effective countermeasure if they're mostly about attacking. It gives disadvantage on any counterspell check, it makes it harder for sneaky creatures to sneak around, it makes grappling them easier... Really not a bad condition. (Again, when you're not fighting one of the ~500 monsters immune to it.)
@@ajjtazman It requires a con save, which at higher levels tends to be a very high save for most monsters and is generally considered the worst save to target. Unless you get really lucky, they probably won't need to use legendary resistances.
Gonna be a lore scrooge here because I have nothing better to do with my life ig: Dung Eater doesn't actually eat dung (or that isn't his goal, at least). He got his name from removing the Shirikodama, an organ talked about in some feudal Japanese legends that supposedly existed in the anus and housed a person's soul, from his victims. All of Dung Eater's victims have a bloodied rag over their laps, so in all likelihood he extracted the Shirikodama from people the same way you backstab the pigs in Bloodborne. By doing that, he is preventing people from being able to be reborn through the power of the Erdtree. You see, Dung Eater doesn't eat dung. He eats ass.
I'm gonna offer you some solace on this courtesy of zully the witch, the name comes from the fact that in traditional Japanese mythology Kappas steal and eat an organ where the human soul exists. Said organ is located in the rectum. Dungeaters whole thing is preventing the soul from being reborn, he just eats souls. Which still come from the butt.
I remember when I first heard about the Dung Eater. I thought my friends were saying "The Dummy" at first and I was like, "Hah, same." and didn't understand why my friends were disgusted with that statement
what a loadsome fella is this one, certainly a disgraceful display of corruption and defilery... Lets slap some holy on it! - Fromsoft The Dung Eater is a twisted malison itself of corruption that take pleasure on the depravity it share to the world, not bothering in death and the only way to harm him is to strip him of his own identity he is so proud of, make you wonder what one can become because of the madening influence on the lands between. Apreciate that even this kind of characters get their chance to become builds, hope to one day get a build for Tangle the lemur with as much care and fairness as this one take pride on its repulsive crusade.
Love your stuff, awesome to see your making even more videos. Epic build, interesting play style. But just a note: a creature can be both vulnerable and immune at the same time meaning (damage X2 X0 = 0) but it does work on resistance as well meaning you just deal flat damage. (But who cares about resistance when you ignore it right.
400 ish nova damage is damn nice. Contagion (Flesh Rot) Vulnerability for 7 days if they fail thier Con save 3 times Death Cleric Channel Divinity: touch of death and divine strike boosed Necrotic damage The crit Vulnerability is basically ×4 damage. So Surge attack 3 times after that's devastating.
That's a butt load of damage
Holy shit

You know what’s fun if your playing this at home clerics get hold person which means guaranteed crits
"For weaknesses, you're loud, ugly, and you smell terrible. The Dung Eater does, too." All right, fine, I'll take a shower, geez.

Or, hear me out, they have to burn legendary resistances against it

Consume the Butt Soul.
We should all strive to be a little more like the Dung Eater, maybe?
Quivers in "OOOHHHH DOBBA DOBBA DOBBA!"
My favourite breaking Character Idea: Dung Eater Vs. Dung Defender.

You damn well know the title card for the video could be easily read as "eat shit comfortably"
WHATTTT??? OH NOOOOOO 😉
I remember when I first heard about the Dung Eater. I thought my friends were saying "The Dummy" at first and I was like, "Hah, same." and didn't understand why my friends were disgusted with that statement
I love this build. If I ever get to play a high level game I am going with this one.
Not even flex tape can save you now
Now that the dung eater has been made into a dnd build you should do the dung defender from hollow knight to balance it out
THE DASTARDLY DOO-DOO DEVOURER

This is such a nasty build, love it!
_The Evil Excrement Enjoyer is upon us at last_
Every party needs a pooper!
2d4 for toll of the dead? I thought it was a d12 if they took damage already, I could be wrong though
It is, I think he misspoke
Yep, it is
I am surprised that you didn't use "The Great and Mighty Poo" for the title card...
Awesome video, would love to see more elden ring characters like festering fingerprint vyke done in d&d
This is the level of gross that I have been dealing with this whole week.
This build speaks to me. I must make it my own.
“You aren’t getting your way without violence.”
Why is that in the “Cons” section?
Let the Dung Eon Drag On.

THE HORRENDOUS HOT-SLOPPY HOARDER
Got you Tulok. Tell my DM who showed me this build.
That thumbnail is a masterpiece
Finally, I can now play as the crazy caca consumer
Dung Eater versus Poison Ivy, who wins in a best of 10 matchup?
Do patches next please.
