    I've watched so many of these pick up videos and I'm completely sold on Nazguls.... Like no matter how many videos and comparisons I watch... They are just so clear and monstrous...

    Awesome playing man! At first I was thinking the Nazguls but as it went on the BKP's sounded more full and clear for me.

    Both sound fantastic, but, I think the SD Nazgul is a bit more clear and bright. The nazgul is a bit more crisp and clear as well. Thanks so much. I am about to install a Nazgul/Sentient set on my Schecter C-7 and this was a big help

    They're both very good, i think the nail bomb is more aggressive but the Nazgul has more clarity IMO.

    Great video and comparison! I prefer the BKP pickups in my Mayones guitars. I'm running through an ENGL E670SE EL34. I love the two Mayones guitars and these guitars are so resonant and responsive that a simple pickup change changes the entire dynamic. Thank you for sharing!

    For me The Nazgul has more sparkling and jump out to my ear, but the Nailbomb has more of body and bigger sound. Both are great for each personal taste

      dnadeau819 just to clarify: I did that video to demonstrate the difference between 2 pick-ups. So I basically used left-over riffs and recorded them. (and btw: music is a matter of taste.)

    I think you should've compared Nazgul with a CERAMIC Nailbomb.
    Nice comparison nonetheless.

    I have a KM7 and it's still loaded with the Nazgül pickup. I believe the Nailbomb is trying too hard to be heavy that it lacks clarity. Keith Merrow is one of the Tone Gods anyway.

  • @JulianDaniels
    @JulianDaniels 3 роки тому

    Wow, both are great pickups. But I prefer the Nailbombs over the Nazgul for more clarity and a more defined attack. Also chords on all strings sounds much clearer with seperated notes than the Nazgul. The Nazgul delivers more bass, but who needs bass when you play real tube amps? On the Kemper there are some pickup configurations that don't work so great because (no offend) that digital solutions expecially the Kemper lack bass and low mids. Trust me I use tube amps and the Axe FX at home and had several Kempers in the studio.

    Nailbomb have a more rounded/thicker/robust tone to them where the Nazgul is thinner and seems a bit more compressed. With the same setting the Nazgul will naturally sit better in a mix because it's got more presence due to the hyped eq curve on the high end of the pickup. I prefer pickups with more body, substance and dynamics so for me the BKP would be the way to go....great demo and fantastic playing btw!!!

    •  8 років тому +2

      Thank you :) yeah good point - in my other guitar I prefer the BKP as well (mainly for the same reasons you've already mentioned)

    • @ChristsDanimal777

      +BrownBearMusic I've been comparing the nailbomb and crawler from BKP for a guitar that I need to be able to do modern church praise and worship and then still get it done for my metal project I do...with that said...how do you like the nailbomb for clean and low/mid gain stuff? I want something that does jazz clean, edge of break up blues, smooth mid gain and then insane metal high gain while retaining clarity and dynamics in each setting!!!!

    •  8 років тому +1

      I like the nailbomb a lot when it comes to cleans. I never really play any mid gain sounds and the only guitar I've played jazz on more than 1 hour is my schecter Jeff Joomis which had Dimarzios in it at that time... But when it comes to retaining clarity the nailbomb is really really good :) It handles high gain distortion really well :)

    My duvell came with 10-46 but I had a tech set it up for 9 gauge but I think the Duvell plays better with 10s.. what adjustments do I need to do? Can I do them myself? My duvelle is 6 strings. What string gauge do u use?

    •  7 років тому

      David suzuki I'd let someone professional do that if you're inexperienced with those kind of set-ups.
      I use Ernie Ball's "Skinny Top Heavy Bottom" which are 10-52 and i've used Dean Markley 10-52 before that (I guess they're called "LTBH" or something like that). I buy my 7th string as an extra string to be more flexible and add it to the 6-string-set ;)
      String gauge also depends on your tuning. I usually tune my guitar to Drop C# and my 7th string is tuned to a G#.

    I have a Jackson Js 32Q na and I'm looking for upgrading my pickups, and I wanna know which is the most well fit to me.
    I'm into prog metalcore, Djent, and clean ambient like Tesseract for example.
    I love SD Nazgul, and I love BKP too like the aftermath 7 or the Naibomb unfortunately it's too expensive to me, but I don't know which model is the best for my desire...
    Could you help me in my choice?
    CHeers from Belgium!!!!!!
    I hope you will reply me soon!

    •  8 років тому

      The easiest way to figure out which PU works best for you and your guitar is writing the guys of BKP an E-Mail with detailed information about your guitar and the music you want to make. They suggested the nailbomb for my schecter and it was exactly perfect. In case of Seymour Duncans I can't really help you that much since its heavily dependand on your guitar. and the only way finding the right PU is by putting them into your guitar and trying them out... sorry ;)

    Hi, great sound and guitars! I see you used the Kemper and I want to ask you what is better in your opinion and why: Axe-fx 2 or the Kemper
    Thanks!

    •  8 років тому

      Hey, Thanks
      => Kemper vs Axe FX2": First of all I'd like to mention that I'm not an expert on this topic (not even close) BUT In my opinion the Kemper sounds more natural and more like a real guitar amp. The Kemper is a little dirtier and a bit harder to 'tame' which could both be an advantage and a disadvantage depending on which style of music you're into. It's also waaay easier (and a lot less time consuming) to find a good sound on a kemper than it is to make the axe fx 2 sound good. I spent 4 days with an axe fx 2 (owned by a friend of mine) and couldn't figure out a way to make it sound as good as my kemper (which could totally be my fault i guess ;D).
      When it comes to clean sounds and effects the AXE-FX is much better in my taste. Nearly every clean profile I use live with my band 'texas local news' is a profiled Axe-FX. The Axe-Fx also makes it easier to record and reamp DI-tracks. I don't regret buying the Kemper at all. If you want to talk about this topic a bit more just add me on facebook or something ;)

    • @reneebert7
      @reneebert7 8 років тому

      +BrownBearMusic Hi again:),
      Thanks for your reply. I asked you because I want to buy one of them. My style is close to yours in the youtube video. I like periphery (they use Axe-fx) but I heard a lot good opinions about the Kemper, too, like you said. You know I'm a gear nerd and always on the search for the perfect sound. Right now I have a peavey 6534+. It's great but I want more options and to experiment with different sounds. So can you tell me a little bit more of your experience with both of them? The great thing of the Axe-fx is in my opinion the unlimited options it offers. Can I change the sound of a preset on the kemper as much as the Axe-fx can? A big point for the Kemper is that it is a little bit cheaper and it has a power amp already in it. Thank you for your impressions and keep the good work on your UA-cam channel! ( which preset did you use with your kemper to achieve that amazing tone? :)
      Greetings

    •  8 років тому

      Since the Kemper can sound like anything you profile (e.g. every amp on this planet) it has a lot more options than the axe-fx which comes with limited (but a lot of) presets and amp models. There are also tons of really really great Kemper-Profiles from professional studios that can be bought or even downloaded for free. The main profile I'm using in most of my videos is a combination of two kemper-profiles I found online. (one is still available for free - the other one costs money now as far as I'm informed). One of those is a TAPP Marzian D profile from their website and the other one is some Orange Rockerverb 50 from Deadlight Studios. I use the “cab”-section of the TAPP-amp profile with the “Amp”-section of the RV50o
      The Kemper doesn't have as much options (but more than enough) when it comes to tweaking profiles/patches as the Axe-Fx BUT it can tweak the amp-profile itself a lot more than the tweaking that would be possible with the 'real amp' that was 'captured' to create the profile beforehand. The good side of not having as many options as the axe-fx is that you generally spend more time playing guitar instead of tweaking sounds.
      Another thing to keep in mind is that those products are both high end, so you basically can’t really go wrong with any of those two. I prefer the Kemper a lot so this 'report' is somewhat biased towards the Kemper.
      Another thing I want to mention is that the axe-fx has more effects and in my opinion better sounding effects than the kemper, but I’m satisfied with the effects that come with the kemper. You can check out my band’s song “Gravity” (Texas Local News) to hear what the kemper is capable of in terms of delays and stuff :)
      Fun Fact: One of my absolute favourite guitar tones comes from Widek's Album called "journey to the stars" which was recorded with an axe-fx (as far as i know).
      BUT I never regretted buying a kemper instead of an axe-fx. I couldn’t be happier ;)

  • @vejichan
    @vejichan 7 років тому

    What pickups do u like on the Mayones Duvell? Also what speakers do u use at home with the kemper?

    •  7 років тому

      David suzuki I tested the BKP Nailbomb, the BKP juggernauts and the sentient/nazgul-combo and I still prefer the nazgul/sentient a lot. (and swapped them back in)
      I have been using a pair of Presonus Eris5 for the last 2 years and bought the Presonus Eris8 last week :)

  • @vejichan
    @vejichan 7 років тому

    Btw when you switch string gauges on the Duvell. What adjustments are needed?

    •  7 років тому

      David suzuki none basically. (I didnt do anything with the neck or the tuss rod. and everything feels fine in my opinion)
      But if you wanna go thicker than 0.76 with your 7th string you need to widen the nut a tiny bit to make the string fit into it.

    great video, what is your review of each, as far as pros vs. cons?

    •  9 років тому +1

      AkiraSpectrum thanks, hm I didn't really like the nailbomb in that guitar although I love it in my Schecter JL-7 - I guess thats a matter of taste. A big pro for the nailbomb is - as always - clarity and the way it copes with gain. The Nazgul sounds a little bit too evil and has less character to it than the nailbomb when it comes to high gain sounds. The reason I couldn't stand the nailbomb in the duvell is that I didn't like what it did to the sound of the 6th and 7th string - there's this annoying attack that I didn't get rid of with any EQ. I don't have that problem with the JL-7 and the nailbomb.
      My opinion: I like the nailbomb more but it just doesn't fit my style of playing/taste when I have it installed in my Duvell - In my JL it just kicks ass in every way possible :).
      reviews are difficult but I wrote a bit in this ss.org thread: www.sevenstring.org/forum/pickups-electronics-general-tech/291565-pickup-comparison-nailbomb-vs-nazgul-duvell-7-a.html

      Cool thanks! Are you still looking to replace the nazgul in your duvell or are you still generally happy with it?

    •  9 років тому

      AkiraSpectrum since the juggernaut sounded even worse I'm not going to replace the nazguls :) (and well i'm generally happy with them)

    hey man.thats a sexy ass guitar u got there. im thinking bout getting this one myself. but was wondering how the 25.5 inch scale handles tunings down to....lets say........drop g?

    •  7 років тому

      Masters of Non-Xistence for this song I tuned my guitar to F# C# G# C# F# A# D# and it's fine :) my 7th String is a .78 though ;) but yeah Drop G shouldn't be a problem

      @softlikesilk 7 років тому

      .78?!?!?!?! jesus haha. thats huge. do u think a 74 would be ok for g? never had a 25.5 inch scale 7 string before lol

    •  7 років тому

      Masters of Non-Xistence hmm depends on your likings I guess... I'd go for a 76 or 78 but 74 should be okay too

    •  7 років тому

      Alex Nachname Das ist ein Profile, das ich aus der Amp-Section von einem Orange Rockerverb 50-profile von Deadlight Studios und der Cab-Section von einem TAPP IRATUS D Profile von der Tapp-Amps Website zusammengesetzt und dann getweaked habe ;)

    all this djenty false metal needs to go away asap. everything shouldn't be based on meshuggahs worst work. we need another evolution on metal but it should be based on everything classic and thrash! while this crap has tonal depth it has no balls or aggression or original creativity. tone is important but not everything!!

      dnadeau819 Thrash is boring as hell though. There's a reason there's only like 3 well known thrash bands lol
