I play King since T1 and I'm gonna play King til I die. I picked him "because cool" (him and AK). That's literally it. That's how you pick your main. It doesn't get deeper.
I'm also a king main played him since tekken 1, and I'm going to stick with him he's such a cool character. I really love him in 8 they did my boy right
I think the first and most important recommendation, is pick the character who speaks to you and will inspire you to play the most. Tekken is hard, and to get good its going to be a grind for every character. I tried learning how to play Tekken 7 with Katarina, when at the time I really wanted to learn Devil Jin, I ended up quitting. Now I am learning tekken 8, ignoring any sane beginner advice; I am learning Bryan because I think his combos are ruthless looking and super cool (despite how hard ju dash qcf 3 4 timing is for me), I am now having a blast regardless of my winrate. You will get a better winrate with Alisa in lower ranks than a mishima, but once you hit ranks where people know how to exploit the simplistic and linear gameplan you were using, you will hit a wall with a character that doesn't speak to you (or make you proud), and doesn't inspire you to learn the game on a deeper level, and you will likely quit.
thank you for this. i've had my eye on zafina since tekken 7 (i didn't purchase the dlc), so i was super excited to finally get my hands on her. unfortunately, i've caught myself feeling really discouraged by the community and it's claims about zafina being the worst character in the game. i've looked at other characters, but they just don't grab my attention the way that she does. i've decided that I'm going to main her regardless and hope for the best
Yeah dont let the execution barrier prevent you from playing a character you like because if you do enjoy playing as them, you will make the effort to do the higher execution moves with time.
@@alurosfdont let tiers dissuade you from playing a character you genuinely like. A TWT champion won using a character that was widely considered to be low-mid tier (Bears) in Tekken 7. Play who you want!

I had a brief character crisis in Tekken 8 because i wanted to play Claudio but found him too simplistic and thought i would eventually get bored of him. But i adored his design and i love mages and stuff so he seemed like my perfect choice. Eventually i realized that simple isn’t so bad and he’s so much fun. So i made him my main. My takeaway from this is to stick to the character that inspires you and that gets you excited when in the character select screen. Make sure you have fun playing them, thats what games are initially made for
I also chose Claudio for his simplicity, not much bs going on, some strong moves (the hop kick is prob the best launcher), good focus on fundamentals when you pick Claudio, better in the long run.

@@Merm1392 Yeah the buffers help and I personally feel you can be a lot more creative whereas most 2D games are about optimizing a few different character-specific elements while mastering the fundamentals. I have around 1300 hours on TK7 not really any prior. And My advice is.. Pick an easy character. I wanted to go the hardcore way in T7 playing entirely for fundamentals, but on top of that I wanted to play only hard characters. Bryan, Steve. I didn't get into Mishimas cause my fingers weren't ready for electrics. Anyway I do have some fundamental now. But my biggest improvement was when I played Kazumi for a while, reason being she is soo simple. Her gameplay and game plan are just pure fundamental. And this makes it very easy to focus on those things. When you play a hard character with a lot of execution and a complicated game plan as a beginner it's quite hard to focus on the actual fundamentals, cause your focus needs to be entirely on what YOU are doing most of the time and not what the opponent is doing. I still mainSteve now, but I also picked Azucena. And I can immediately tell how much easier and enjoyable it is to play a simple but effective character. (well she's not so simple, but her general gameplan is)
It depends what you prefer. Easy is great for players who just wanna win. But if you wanna style on them, and have that high satisfaction that you are better, pick execution heavy. Winning is not always everything. I suggest playing one easy and one complex character.
@@dupla0392 Yeah I agree. But it wasn't about winning that much. Even though losing non stop will make a lot of people quit. But what I was trying to say is. It's in my opinion easier if you go through the ladder of difficulty properly. Start off easy and build up to hard. Also it depends how much natural talent you have for that. When I started out I had this mindset that I wouldn't enjoy the game if I chose and easy character. And now I realize I was wrong about it. In a game that hard starting with an easy character is still super challenging and will take off a bit of that overwhelming learning curve.

King probably has the worst heat because he ONLY has F21 which can be fucking ducked, while being a non combo extender, only for wall carry. Sure king has grabs, but with so many characters having pressure, its hard to get your plus frames into giant swing. ITS ridiculously hard.
@@kevinsyz1201 you totally understand. King is easy for people who can do a good job at reading and conditioning their opponent. Which makes them easy scrub killers but not easy to mash like everyone makes it seem
I want you to know that the raven player thinks he is smarter than you. hahahahah

Lucky chloe for tekken 8 is needed......

Bro is just boring. And this is coming from a guy who usually plays the basic characters.
Ironically, Paul has one of the highest execution combos with QCF1 😂
why do people say King is easy? He is a neutral character playing against heavy string characters that deal like 80 damage on hit confirms its literally so hard as king
feels like AI
