    I've been wanting to buy a Refurbished PS5 from somewhere... so I did it. I found a refurbished PS5 console on eBay, and made the purchase. It came from a very large seller, so it seemed reputable, but the listing was only generic pictures, which is a little suspect. And then we find out that the PS5 has issues... make sure to watch the whole video to see what happens...

      Shouldn't even trust buying refurbished or pre owned consoles from retail either. A friend of mine had a PS4 that had a HDD failing on him so he took it to Gamestop and got full trade in value for it. It took about 10-15 minutes for it to start acting up but they tested it for like 5 minutes on the menu and said it was good lol.
      Granted I told him he could just easily replace the drive but I guess he needed the money that bad but at least it's something easily fixed for the next person to own it if they chose to do so I guess.

      Years ago i had this original backwards compatible PS3, and i was out of work, needed money. So i sold it to a friend of mine who i thought would take care of it as well as possibly sell it back to me later on... well things,just didn't turn out like that. Where he was living at, at the time, there was electrical problems i kept trying to point out. He ignored me. I noticed it and i knew it wasn't a good thing because i saw the way the lights flickered whenever someone turned something on in another room.
      Anyway. Couple weeks later and he's telling everyone that i "ripped him off". He was saying that it started getting loud and that i only sold it because i knew it was about to break.
      You learn as you go through life. No matter if you have good intentions, everything is a gamble either way. That's why i stick to myself a lot these days.

  • @DOverton252
    @DOverton252 2 роки тому +262

    The artifacting that you were experiencing with this console was either VRAM, or Memory Controller related. Whoever "refurbed" it more than likely did a factory reset and tested it by leaving it at the main menu, or they baked it and tested it with the same methodolgy. It could also be that the apu is overheating, and as a result the memory controller was malfunctioning (this is built into the APU). If that's the case, someone may have opened it and either did not replace the liquid metal, or they replaced the liquid metal with thermal paste.
    Regardless of the reason, that artifacting is 1000% data corruption

    Your issue sounds very similar to my ps5. I had to get my console fixed because all ps5 games caused my system to hard crash. I would play cold war zombies and about 5 mins in the console would turn off and not reboot until power cord was unplugged and plugged back in. Every ps5 game ended up crashing my console.
    Ps4 games ran just fine for the majority of the time. Before getting my system fixed i recieved 2 warnings stating to turn off console because it is over heating.
    I sent my console out and got it back in about 2 weeks. Sony said it was a same console repair.

    My consoles are always clean, not ever a single scratch or hand print on my ps5 and series X. At least I respect Sony and Microsoft’s creation unlike others out there.

    Anything Ive ever bought refurbished by a legitimate campany has never shown up in original box nor has there ever been markings or signs of use. Items still have protective plastic cling etc. This " refurb" looks like they plugged it in amd saw it turned on and said, "it's working!"

    I no longer buy used consoles unless it's from a local shop with a refund guarantee. I've gone through too many returns to do it ever again.

    Smells like a memory issue to me. I've never encountered a broken GP in an APU, and the quality control on AMD's side is air-tight, so chances are the APU is fine. GDDR6, however - which the PS5 uses as both video and system memory - is notorious for running hotter than previous generations and thus being more prone to failure. Reballing the memory chips might temporarily circumvent the issue. Chances are, though, that console is toast unless you outright replace the (V)RAM, the difficulty of which might range from extremely hard to outright impossible, and even if you find someone willing to do it, it's likely going to be prohibitively expensive.
    Hope you got your money back for this one.

    My sons PS5 was doing the same thing, but only on PS5 games. He could play for a few minutes then the screen would get weird and the game would crash. Happened every time. PS4 games ran just fine though for some reason. I rebooted, cleared cache, factory reset, over and over and over, but with no luck. Just on a whim one day he took the vacuum to clean out the console and a huge chunk of dust/hair came out. Suddenly his PS5 would play PS5 games again with no issue. Very weird. I'm sure the dust/hair was clogging up the heat sink, but the console wasn't getting hot. If that were the issue, it would have crashed during PS4 games as well. I have no idea why dust would cause the issue he was having. Something worth trying though if you ever have that same problem. If you're technical enough, take the PS5 apart so you can clean the heat sink even better.
