MeTV brought back Super Friends, when heroes were heroes, bad guys were evil, then we learned a valuable lesson courtesy of a public service announcement at the end. When those episodes were new, I thought those shows were silly and boring. Absolute Power sounds like all DC's other events with little shake-ups, stakes, and ultimately "toys back in the toy chest." It at least felt better put together compared to all those other events and Dan Mora's art is always a win.
The Conan Battle Of The Black Stone is making me think that Jim Zub might of borrowed the Michael Moorcock's Multiverse Eternal champion series idea, where Howard's character's will be drawn together through time eventually to confront the great evil. We'll see how Jim Zub handles this story trope in this series.
I skipped the entire Absolute Power event. The plot was so dumb in my opinion. I'm so glad that Ghost Machine books are having more spot in every new month. It's a very good alternative for readers that are tired of the big 2.
Hey wes. Since you seem to be enjoying conan, i wonder have you read Elric of Melnibone from titan? I dont recall it ever getting a mention. The art on that book is gorgeous.
I picked up Hyde Street and it was free at Colosseum of Comics (they have a partnership with Image). I've also been getting all the Ghost Machine books and I love Rook and Redcoat. I just got most of the Geiger books except issue 5. I also got Deep Cut (just missing issue 2). Honestly I always try to get your recommendations and I haven't been disappointed yet.
Wolverine: Deep Cut ending was excellent. Mr Sinister as I haven't seen him in decades, the issue was a amazing ending to a great run and ties great into continuity. For me I disagree with Wes on this, for me it's a huge plus it's set and weaved masterfully into the end of the Outback era continuity. It's set far before Krakoa or even many of the bad and disastrous ideas that preceded it. And Claremont didn't have any of what's going on now in mind. That just made both this and Madripoor Knights that much better. Very happy with this mini series 😊
I still don't understand why Nemesis need a cape. He cannot fly, and he doesn't need to scare people or made dramatic entrance to the crime scene, like Batman, but keep wearing cape. 😂
I am not surprised that Absolute Power ended as dud. They had same with Dark Crisis, not much changed after that as well. They have had that for a long while. Dark Nights: Death Metal event was supposed 2 be big change as well, but than they did barely with it after it.
For Birds of Prey, I like that the Birds of Prey - with Barbara returning as Oracle, Cassandra in disguise is the daughter of Matches Malone (in which Bruce would be proud), and Onyx and Grace Choi being recruited - was summoned by Nubia to find the missing Amazons, since Diana is busy in her solo series dealing with the Sovereign and doesn’t have time to deal with other stuff. Overall, this is a good comic. For Absolute Power, I find it satisfying that all it the heroes were able the defeat Waller, Task Force VII, Failsafe, the Bureau of Sovereignty, and Waller’s multiversal army. This includes Oliver revealing that he’s a double agent (like I called since the start of this event), Dreamer being alive by escaping into Jon’s mind, Starr deactivating Task Force VII, all of the heroes’ powers being returned (and swapped and scrambled), Barry sending Waller’s multiversal army back to their worlds (making sure that Prime Earth will be inaccessible to the multiverse), and Waller being defeated after exposing her plans to the entire world. I like that we get to see Waller be imprisoned after all she’s done since the Infinite Frontier Suicide Squad, War For Earth-3, the ending of Dark Crisis, Knight Terrors, Beast World, and Absolute Power. This includes Dreamer locking Waller from accessing all of the heroes’ secrets and telling her that there might be something planted inside her brain. I wonder if Dreamer will ever tell Jay Nakamura that she’s alive, that she was forced to join Waller’s team because she has her parents (in which she found them), and escaped into Jon’s mind so that she can heal herself up, causing Jay to still be mad at her for joining Waller’s team (because Waller killed his mom and destroyed Gamorra) and to dump Jon (in which his appearances in upcoming Superman books show him staying in Metropolis) because Jon sided with Dreamer and that she helped him remove the Brainiac Queen from his mind and that Jay cared about himself instead of others (in which he’ll become a villain after Absolute Power because he’s a terrible and unnecessary character). I also like that the Trinity had a talk with Oliver, in which Oliver apologized to them for what he did, causing him to say that the world needs the Justice League again after their disbandment in Dark Crisis and that the Titans did an okay job taking their place (even though Tom Taylor’s Titans run is a retread of popular Wolfman-Perez Titans storylines that barely done anything). Also, teasing the upcoming JLU comic. Let’s hope that Oliver will apologize to the Green Arrow Family for what he did and for them to (eventually) forgive him in his solo series. Mark Waid and Dan Mora has done excell success on this event, including having a change in status quo for DC All In and teasing JLU this November. I was wrong that Absolute Power would be a terrible comic because DC events since Dark Crisis have been lackluster or terrible (in my opinion) and that there have been multiple writers prior to Waid not knowing how to handle this event. Overall, this comic (and event) is great and better than Dark Crisis, Lazarus Plant, Knight Terrors, and Beast World. The few things I can nitpick are Courtney being active as Stargirl for three years (since she started her career as the second Star-Spangled Kid at 15 years old and as Stargirl at 16 years old), which happened five years after Zero Hour (as shown in the New Golden Age one-shot from 2022) and this series ending without resolving the Watchmen stuff (i.e. Clark Dreisburg, Nostalgia, Mime and Marionette, second Rorschach, Time Masters, etc.). Let’s hope that Jeff Lemire can acknowledge or ignore the Watchmen stuff in his upcoming JSA series. Overall, this is a good comic, a good conclusion to JSA, a good 25th anniversary to Courtney Whitmore, and a good tribute to Stargirl! For the Nightwing part, it’s surprising (but not really, since it’s written by Dan Didio) that Conner told Dick that he was meant to die during the Infinite Crisis in 2005/2006 before it ended with Conner and Cassie (as a married couple, I assume) taking on the mantle of Superman and Wonder Woman and living at peace in the year 2025/2026. It’s nice that Clark invited Booster Gold to join the JLU because he knows that he sees the potential in him and that he did his best at becoming a hero for the past 39 years. I also like that all of the heroes all worked together to defeat Darkseid before they learned that the Elseworld (which hasn’t been used since the end of Death Metal) became the Absolute Universe and that Booster Gold learned what’s happened in that universe. Overall, this is a great backup and a great start to the DC All In initiative. For the Omega part, I like that we get to see what happened to Darkseid since Dark Crisis. This includes him obtaining power by traveling through realms to get it (including dealing with Zaurel, Blaze, Eclipso, the Spectre, and the Quintessence), fighting the heroes at the new Watchtower, and using the Elseworld to create an Absolute Universe. Also, referencing Darkseid’s entire history, including stuff from Final Crisis and the Great Darkness Saga. Overall, this is a great backup and a great start to DC’s Absolute Universe. For Deadpool, I like that Ellie tried and did her best at following her dad’s legacy as the latest Deadpool while spending time with Princess, dealing with a criminal, and having a chat with Taskmaster (who is like a uncle to her). Also, this comic ending with her meeting her dad’s ex aka Alyssa Wong’s self-insert at the final page of the issue because Princess wants Ellie to meet them. Overall, this is a good and fun comic. Hope that Ellie and Vuong will have a chat in the next issue and have them explain why they and Wade broke up. For Venom War: Spider-Man, the surprising thing about this comic are Peter and Venom becoming the new King in Black (which looks cool) and Peter traveling to an alternate future branched from the main Marvel universe where they encountered the Avengers and that era and Mayday Parker before Venom was able to free Peter and parted ways after their teamup. Overall, this comic is okay.
For Spider-Gwen, the only good thing about this comic is Gwen teaming up and having a chat with Jessica Jones. That way, Gwen can rely on Jessica for resource and information and have her tell the Spider-People what’s going on and why she’s staying in the main Marvel universe. The rest is just Gwen looking for Fabian aka the Black Tarantula. That’s it. Overall, this is an okay comic.

I liked the Amazo's designs. But that's all the positive I can give.
Absolute Garbage
BRO the Timestamps after Conan is Missing, I wanna skip Conan but I can't because of the missing Timestamps🙄
