    I use alot of the foam brushes and to help reduce waste I keep the handles and use them as dowels in a pinch. A bit off topic lol

    As they say in Klingon Qu' video Beth. I will try those brushes. I have brushes that have cost me well over 30 dollars and they will shed bristles. I use the round brushes for applying wax. They are great for getting crooks and nanny's. I also use them for painting stencils. I use a dabbing motion to apply the product. Biscuit almost was upset you didn't put him in the video

      Please do! I'm shocked at how much I feel in love with these brushes. Definitely worth the investment. I used to use those round sponge brushes when doing stencils. Now I use a foam roller. What a difference in time! My stenciling game has picked up in speed because of this and I get pretty flawless results.

    One thing to try is to buy makeup brushes in all forms when they are on sale or in the make up section in a dollar store for detailing. I find they don't shed and work great! You can find whole sets of different types at discount stores (Marshals, T J Maxx, etc. for 5-10.00. I also find men's shaving brushes at thrift stores once in awhile and they work great as a chalk paint brush. If you like to brush on a glaze coat of gel stain for a neat affect over paint, keep old toothbrushes around for the sides that have small edges and fronts of dressers between drawers.

      Wow! Love your comment! Thank you for sharing some frugal and resourceful ways to get brushes. I really like the makeup brushes idea. I never thought of that. Any items that we can find at the Dollar Store is a win for me. I get those big wooden popsicle sticks as stirrers for my paint.

    A back to basics video idea: knowing which paints to use as a base coat and which ones to use as a top coat. Are there matte finishes so it’s not so shiny? I’m wanting to refurbish furniture into a goth/alternative style so while a glossy finish is nice, it’d be cool to have matte options to add a deeper or earthy element to colors I choose. Loving your videos! I just found your channel a couple of hours ago and already have been able to learn so much!

      Thank you for the suggestion on a video. What helps determine your final sheen on a project will be your topcoat. Even if you paint with a chalk paint, usually those give off a matte look, it's the topcoat you put over the chalk paint that can change the sheen to either satin, gloss or even a matte finish. Matte finishes can be found with water based topcoats so you can ensure a final look that's matte.

    Never heard of the Cling On Brushes. Gotta try them!
    I use chip brushes a lot to apply primer & wax but find that they shed A LOT. It bugs me when I'm applying primer though because I'm constantly removing bristles. So now I dedicate a good 2" synthetic brush for priming.
    Do you experience that as well?

    • @madelinejeanantiquesrestor9074
      @madelinejeanantiquesrestor9074  8 місяців тому

      Definitely give the Cling On Brushes a try! I do experience the same with chip brushes. I do my best beforehand to shake out the loose bristles before using them. I do this by running the brush aggressively over my open palm. This seems to help a lot.
