- In today's video, I am going to answer, the most commonly asked, yet, least answered question on internet , well that is, how to debug battery stats, or reset battery stats in Windows.
I'm 100% sure that this method will definitely work for you to fix laptop battery problem.
This video is for Dell laptop users specifically, but it will work in other laptops too.

Usually manufacturers design the system to shut down before battery fully discharged. To make battery life last long.
By doing the settings you did, it gonna make the battery stay long but at the same time it gonna make battery life shorter
By your verdict this method is useful or dangerous to our system ? my design capacity is 41wh and I'm getting 35.2wh. should I go with this ?
@codephile
More you use your battery, more quickly it will degrade.
An average battery lasts for 200-400 charge cycles. You can check it in the same detailed webpage.
Layman's scenario
You can run to save your time, but you will get exhausted sooner. ( Scenario 1 , when you use this method)
You can walk, it gonna take more time, but you will not be exhausted soon.
(Scenario 2, when you do nothing, or do this method once in 2-3 months)
I use Lenovo X1 Carbon. You revived my battery from 35,680 mWh to 39,990 mWh. Battery design capacity is 52,260 mWh. Thank you so much Sir.
Keep your laptop cool, and it may increase further. :)
i bought my laptop 2 months ago. the full charge compacity decreased from 37,802 mWh (which is the original) to now 29,742 mWh though I do not play games or use any hard stuff that are harmful to the battery. i tried calibration, turn on battery save mode always but it doesn't help to last longer.
also, the battery report on my laptop estimated that I used over 600 thousand hours during 7 days from 21 to 28 Nov which is obviously impossible. i wonder if this is an error from the manufacturer or not. what should I do now? should I call for warranty?
thanks in advance.
Yes, you should. Apologies mate, for the late reply.
wow and amazing....I have Dell m4800 and battery was so bad, In Dell power management application show me that I need to replace battery, I can work on battery maybe 10 min. even if is charge full. I uninstall dell power management, I create custom power plan how you explain, and now still on 1% of battery I working more that 30 min. Thank you man, you save my nerves about batter.
glad to hear :)
My battery was lasting 10 minutes, I'm still in the middle of the process now but it's been more than 1 hour showing 0% without turning off, and it's still running! Really hope this fully calibrates it for correct stats, thank you!
@Vinit Kumar Still doesn't show the correct percentage but it stays on for a very long time while showing 0%, the only problem is that it turns off abruptly when it fully drains out.
Did it work?
Hello did it work? I'm facing the same problem my battery went from 100% to 4% in 10 minutes
Did you try again?
@@Codephile I did not try it again, it was still automatically shutting down when the battery got low, but when I turned it on again it was lasting much longer while showing 0% but then it would turn off abruptly without any warning, I figured it wouldn’t be very safe for using it like that 😕

hello, ive had the same issue for about a few months now, it keeps making my computer super laggy at 0% and randomly if i get lucky goes back to normal for a couple weeks and then goes back to this suddenly, the difference is that i cant unplug my laptop, or itll instantly shut off, therefore, i cannot drain the battery.
do you have a fix or should i just buy a new laptop? I have a surface pro 6
my capacity ranges from 700-10000 now which is horrible in contrast to the 45000 designed
Definitely will try it! Thanks 🥳
It worked . Thanks for sharing .
I think this issue is with all Dell Products.
I also felt the same
I am having this exact same issue on my xps 15 9550, just replace a new battery coz the original one is swelling, and then I find the laptop shut itself down at 50% battery and restart with couple % left but then can run for extra hour on 0%...... Frustrating thing is the stat when very first charge of this new battery was great with 0% battery wear, after a couple of charges it's now at 25% battery wear...... And the wrong battery stat and shut-down in the middle still persist... And no fixes work, it gets worse every atempt, now battery wear at 32%...new battery.

yes. It just recalibrates your battery, keep your laptop at cool place, keep it always charge between 60-80. These things do matter too.
Bro after ur laptop shutdown it self do u need to wait before pluggin in? Or just plug in after laptop suddenly dead?
Ya...just let it drain...
Don't do it more than once in a while ( maybe twice a month, not necessarily)
That's really worked bro 🙏
Glad it helped

Does this method gonna do accurate reading of battery? I need to check cuz in my asus report my battery life percent was 78% then it dropped to 40% for 4 months. Idk what method my manufacture used to check my battery life, but i hope not to replace my battery very sooner
It will be more closer to accurate can't really predict "how much closer"
i have done this before, does work , 7% of mine can last close to 2 hrs

try charging your laptop to 100% and running it to down 0%, until it no longer can bot. Then charge it to 100% in one go.
This is recalibration and you probably know about it
Hello. Hope you could answer me. If I do this trick. Will the battery life of my batt will improve?
Yes, but for only for a while. This video needs to be updated. Sorry.

Sorry I did not read the video notes before I asked. Thanks again
Do i need to keep the power plan or can i switch it up to normal
Yes, you can switch to normal..
hello, i hope you will respond to me since this video is 3 years old. my laptop has completly new battery, it lasts 5-6 hours in power mode, full brightness while watching video. i did this trick of discharging and chargind again and battery health went from f to good, also capacity went from 25 to 36-33 (changing through cycles). yet it still gets stuck on 7 percent for an hour and at 0 for 1.5 hour, what can i do.
Your manufacturer would suggest a factory reset, since battery recalibration didn't work. They might also make you update your drivers.
Tho, I read somewhere that it's not bad for laptops to stay up little longer when battery is supposed to be discharged, since it protects battery.
It's best you contact them, and convince them to change your battery ( it's better, if it happens, even if it doesn't fix ,but since you do have a point of asking for battery replacement)
hey bro I did it thanks but it did increase a little bit not much but how can I do more than that? do this trick again and again? my laptop is a 15 7559 Inspiron which has a battery with a 73993 mWh design capacity.
Don't do this again and again frequently.
Keep it once in 10-14 days.
You may do it, again and again. But it gonna kill your battery life, for temporary battery capacity increase.
( Temporary, b'cause battery capacity isn't static always, increased battery capacity may last for few weeks, depending on other factors )
@@Codephile Thanks a lot bro
I performed a calibration on my laptop and it seemed to work fine. However, after one complete battery cycle from 100% to 0%, when I fully charged the battery, it suddenly dropped from 34% to 4%. Upon checking the Dell official website, I found out that it is recommended to perform the battery calibration three times.
.
.
Is it safe to callibrate the battery 3 times?
It does hurt your battery a bit, and if you do perform it three times, i wouldn't recommend the fourth anytime in next 6-8 months atleast.
3 times seems excessive to me, but I'm not official so make sure, it's coming from genuine site/user. You can go ahead, and if your laptop is under warranty, it's better to get it replaced by mailing their CEO/escalated support directly
P.S. Battery replacement* not laptop replacement
OK Thanks@@Codephile
Before calibration my DELL battery goes from 32% to directly 6% (Full charge is 49,155 out of 52,995). After, I have calibrated my battery 2 times (Full charge is 41,175) (2*3840mWh) and battery goes from 17% to directly 6%.
Why this happens, this I wrongly calibrate. Battery is showing 100%, while in Battery Report it is showing 84%.
Facing this issue in latitude 7490 still no resolution
For recalibration, you need to drain your battery to 0% until it won't turn ON and charge it back to 100% in one go. Apart from that, did you put a cap on max. charge using some system app?
Thanks. It helped my used zephyrus g14. Battery wear went down from 42% to 15% 😊

I have an asus tuf a15 90whr battery variant , its been a month now since i have purchased it the battery was working fine, i use a battery saver , i have turned off my gpu , i only use my laptop in silent mode, i keep it between 20-80 percent, when i usually run this cmd command my battery's charging capacity is 92000whr which is more than the designed i.e. 90000 whr ,it might be because my laptop is still new , but today all of a sudden ,when i checked the battery report , the charging capacity got lower down to 85000whr , do anyone how to fix it .Moreover my battery doesn't charge to 100 percent, i tried it on the day of purchase,i thought it might be asus safety precaution and doesn't get below down 2 percent too, this one is actually in settings and i can't lower it i guess, can someone please help me to fix it
Go to myAsus App and change the battery profile to "Full Charge" instead of "balanced", if you want to charge it to 100%
Also, you can start your system again, if it powers off. Do it as long as there is some juice remaining in battery.
(But you won't have to do this recalibration now, it sometimes is random and goes on its own)
I have a Dell 5570. after using your trick my full charge capacity increased 2000 mwh. next day i tried it again and it dropped 4000mwh :(
what can I do? @Codephile
You can try it again, but you are shortening your battery life in long run, if you do it repeatedly.
The change in capacity can't be predicted. Atleast as far as I had researched, It seems like, it's kinda random.
Edit : There are limited number of charge cycles, your battery can go through in its lifetime. By discharging it, you're kinda utilising them.
I hope you understand.
1 charge cycle utilised for trying this thing.
A battery can undergo 500-600 cycles or less, depending on external factors.
I bought a new HP Pavilion gaming laptop. After 2, 3 days it was showing 99% full charge capacity. I called the hp support, they instructed me to calibrate the battery three times because it contains 3 cells. Accordingly I fully charged and discharged it for 3 times. After the process full battery capacity decreased to 92%. I'm quite worried about it now. I discharged the battery through the memory testing available in the bios itself. To find out your battery efficiency just divide Full Capacity by Design Capacity ( Full capacity/Design Capacity)
If efficiency falls below 40%, it's a cause of concern.
Otherwise, if it falls below 80% in short time, then start keeping your laptop in some cool place.
You needn't recalibrate your battery. Your battery is in excellent state, just don't let your laptop heat too much.

It just recalibrates your battery, try again later. It works most of the times.
You have to run your laptop at 0% charge, make sure it won't turn ON and charge is squeezed out, before plugging in charger.
Try to use your laptop plugged in ( with maximum charge limit set to 80%) and keep it cool. Heat kills laptop's battery as well.

Hi,
I am using a HP elitebook and recently it is turning off when the batter reaches 80%
It does not show anything and directly turns off
What can I do for this
And in the battery report it says that no batteries are currently installed
I have in full charge capacity 4460 mwh good or bad?
4460 or 44600 ?
Hey my laptop battery cycle just crossed over 405 does this mean my batteries life is short
It may have reduced significantly. You can check it using the powercfg/batteryreport in command property.
thank you so much man
You're welcome ^^
Why my dell laptop battery quick shows full charge and start using quick start draining..
Did you try recalibration? If that doesn't work, you most likely need a new one.
Also, check the status of battery using "powercfg/batteryreport" command.
bro how to fix design capacity not reached like 35300mh but my full capicity is 3180mh how to fix bro my batery is bulid in
how old is your battery?
Also, I saw a comment which seems genuine to me, probably worth a shot.

"Laptop batteries are locked with a code, when you buy them. You cannot calibrate, in certain regions expensive new batteries malfunction. You have to install ms project demo, don't need to activate it. During charging, make sure, you work with the demo. You will notice % change during charging start, that means your battery is unlocked. Now, make sure, you hibernate at 3%. Check for security essentials updates when the laptop instructs you to do so. Download updates on battery only. It will calibrate your power management, to achieve 1% hibernation. The x will disappear, too. Accept automatic updates, too on battery only. Y9u will be amazed of your batt health. Make sure, your cpu is set to 50% on batt. Later, you can set it to 100%. When you are done, your laptop can hibernate at 1%, that also means your device will be the fastest without overheating. Ac online, it will be cool and silent and fast. If your laptop crashes, stress it with cod black ops with opera browser. It will fix the problem within 10 crashes. Use gsm modem for better performance, instead of wifi."
I hot my battery replaced few months ago and it worked fine few months and suddenly it started declining this method didn't worked either:(
It's not supposed to be for batteries with over 80% health.
i have done the same but my battery increase sometimes and decrease also how can i fix this i am having dell laptop plzz suggest
Delete non essential Dell apps like Support Assist, battery manager.
Your laptop shouldn't heat.
Especially if you're using older AMD Radeon GPU, you need to monitor those thermal readings. Don't let them go above 70C.
Heating causes wear of battery early. It's not Sony Vaio, battery won't last that long.
:)
@@Codephile thanks,,, but i have uninstall these software and don;t overheat laptop but not increasing and this is a slow process my battery only increase slightly and then decrease plzz suggest i am having dell latitude laptop and my laptop run at 0%

hi can u pls help me? whenever I removed the charger my laptop automatically shutdown but its 100 percent.
mine too ,how to solve this problem?
If your laptop is still covered under warranty, you should get it checked.
Also let me know your "full charge capacity" and "design capacity". You can find that out by running "powercfg Batteryreport" command in CMD.
I did qork my laptop stayed in 0%. For 3h but. Its not turning on even that i pushed the. On/off bouton for 15s before plug in 😢
keep it plugged in for a while. You should be able to power it on.
What was your battery health ?
Doesn't a fully depleted battery run the risk of not re-charging?
No, it's highly unlikely.
Bro iam getting a problem that my laptop Is always showing 100% battery eve if its not 100%
It's always stuck on 100% battery
Plz help me what can I do
Do I have to replace my laptop battery
Sorry, I missed replying to you.is the issue fixed now?
@@Codephile Yep i just had to replace the battery.
@@hassam_.8 glad to know
Guys mine is now 9221mWh and it was 42000mwh will it work really or my battery os done for lemme try
Goodluck but as far as I see, you should consider replacing it soon
I did the method that you said and got from 40 995 mWh to 42 134 mWh, where design capacity is 58 751 mWh
. Should I do few times more?
By the way I have an acer instead of dell.
Laptop?
Nah. Don't do it frequently.
Like once in 2 weeks is enough.
But you can do it, once a week, twice or thrice. But that would reduce your battery life a bit, if you do it at that frequency..
