wow, quite a great review. That introduction is amazing. I have the 35mm but was considering getting the new 24mm 1.8 rf. but my issue is having too much equipment. I got a 85mm recently and have been using it exclusively for the last 4 months and love it, instead of switching lens all the time. I'm aware of the. right tool for the right job, so my 85mm can't take these sweeping landscape or travel photos as well. but with all that said and done, with your filming and editing skills, they're amazing and i don't think the lens will make a difference to a casual shooter or viewer on my end. i'd love to get the 24mm to add to my tool kit, but i think i should improve on my filming and edit first. great video! first time viewer here and ill be subscribing for sure! have an awesome day!
Hey there, thank you so much for sharing your ideas with the community and I. You have reached what seems to be a clear and concise choice to proceed with developing your already great skills. @@CodyScott re watched the video a few months later and still loving it and the message! i still haven't pulled the trigger on the 24mm 1.8 but will do soon as i have a few trips coming up. thanks for your great content and beautifully edited videos!
Autofocus speed: 2 / Autofocus noise: 1-2 / Extending tube design: -5. The lens wouldn't stand competition but since there is no competition, this is the best RF 24mm lens Canon was able to design, as of today. Awesome job Canon.
The Drone shots, the Cuts, Color Grading got me hooked in the first 30 Seconds. It is amazing it has Macro and Wide-Angle lens capabilities. I would like for you to compare it to a Sony GM 24.
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing feedback and observations. I hope your day is full of joy today. This lens is great for the Canon systems. Indeed, a comparison is in order! Thanks for the suggestion.
Great video! This shows that even with a "budget" lens that you can still create legit footage. I kept saying before this thing came out that it was going to end up as one of the better video lenses at its price point.
You were right! Dude, all it requires is a pro mist filter, proper exposure, proper composition, motivated move to and you can use this lens to create compelling videos that drive results. I’m stoked man! Dude, why haven’t we collaborated yet? 😂
The video footage quality is so good, hit subscribe and like for that. It's weird that UA-cam did not show this video when I was looking for review for this lens. Question, is the flying part also shot with RF 24mm?
Thank you so much much! I have a lot of Sony videos on my channel so anything that is canon related UA-cam will not now show it to people. The flying shot is a drone .
Such an amazing review... thinking about getting this lens because of your film ... one quick thing, your thumbnail can be better. For the amazing review and this quality of production, it needs to be ranked higher. If you need one made I'd be happy to help)
Thank you so much for sharing! It’s a great lens for travel, for sure. Thanks for the offer, I’m alright with the performance of the video and thumbnail :)
Hello and thank you for this video and these very beautiful images !... I only do Photos, never videos because not enough time afterwards for editing ... A few days ago, I bought this RF lens 24mm f1.8 Macro is stm. I find this lens fantastic ! It is in my opinion much better than the RF 16mm that I had the opportunity to test and that I did not like at all ! This new 24mm RF has very little distortion and very little purple fringing on high contrast! On my Canon RP camera, for Landscapes and Street Photo, it will be a very good complement to my RF 50 f1.8 which I use for Portraits !... I can't wait for DxO to provide us with the RAW JPEG Correction Profiles to use in DxO Photolab. Friendships, Philgood...
Hey there thank you so much for sharing your experience with this lens and others. You got it so much value so everyone interested in learning about this 24. Thank you for your time. Be sure to enter into the competition so you can win the canon 50 mm! It’s easy and it’s free. I hope you have an amazing day by the way!
macro lenses absolutely do have a minimum focus distance, it's just much closer than standard lenses. also the canon 24 is sharper across the board than the sigma at the same aperture.
@@CodyScott i’ve rented both and found the canon sharper. mitch lally also did a video with a comparison here: ua-cam.com/video/k2E8mh1IGOg/v-deo.html Honestly though, if youre doing video, i think the softness and wider aperture of the sigma would be welcomed. nice vid.
this lens looks great, but i'm shooting on a R7 and trying to find a great general video lens for a crop sensor, since the crop sensor size is close to S35.
@@CodyScott i should add that right now i'm trying out the 24mm focal length using my EF-S 24 f2.8 pancake lens with an adapter. but have been looking at the 24mm 1.8 RF since it has IS and a wider aperture for better low-light performance.
Yeah, boi!!! I didn't want to waste anyone's time. I knew the questions would roll in so boom, I multi tasked. Plus longer videos are better for algorithms.
I want this lens so bad! :) As I shoot a lot of things indoor, the focal length is perfect for me. Right now I mostly use my 15-35, which is great, but I really want a bit more bokeh and I actually could use a second lens that shoots at 24mm. I feel in love with 24mm when I used my Canon M50 with the Sigma 16mm 1.4 and I really miss it. Right now, I don’t have the money for the lens, but maybe next year… we’ll see ;)
This is so great! Are you using the 15-35 RF? I hear that’s an all around great option. Are you loving it? I am doing a giveaway for a 50mm 1.8 if you made it to that part in the video :) Never hurts to enter
@@CodyScott The RF15-35 is rock solid for video. Picture-wise the RF 24-70 seems to render color nicer and has more sharpness to it though. And yeah, that is a cool giveaway, but I already own the 50 1.8 (great all-purpose lens!).
Hey there, I just bought the Sony fx3 last night. Can I give you a more accurate suggestion in a couple weeks? Right now, my suggestion would be the Sony fx3, however, that opinion is not fully rooted in experience. For photos, you could use a Leica SL-2 or the Canon R6. The perfect combo in a camera right now is the Sony A7S iii. Thank you for the compliment! I hope all is well.
Hi Cody, just subscribed. Thanks for your time. What's the autofocus like? One reviewer has it as sluggish. Good to hear stabilisation is usable. It's this or the Sigma 1.4
Hey there I did a very specific test just for the auto focus. It’s about a 45 second video clip. Are you interested in seeing that video clip? If so I will upload it to the mobile app community so you could see it there in private.
I am wondering how does the ND filter or any heavier filter acts since the front element of these macro lens moves a lot when focusing on different object. Talking on the video sides
This is a really great question and I am grateful that you have asked. I can summarize quickly. The motor of the lens and the quality of the image is not impacted.
Nice B roll! I have a canon M50 ii. I am looking for a 35(ish)mm equivalent for portraits. Is 24mm is equivalent to a 35 because of the crop sensor or is it truly a 24 for the mark 50ii?
