    Specs for the tent and pads has been added to the description. We will be out backpacking with MSR and Thermarest in early September to test this gear out! Stay tuned for much more, detailed coverage from the mountains of Colorado :)

    Awesome upgrade from MSR. 3lbs for a 2 person tent is great, especially a free standing style tent. For everyone saying it's too heavy, get a tarp and your trekking pole and have fun with your single wall bug infested nights.

      Yes! Thank you for a voice of reason in all these wonky comments! I agree, this is a heck of tent for the weight. I am actually going on a backpacking trip this weekend with MSR (and Gregory backpacks, Royal Robbins, Platypus, Thermarest and a whiskey company) to test this very tent out. So, I will be happy to report back on how it works out. Thanks for the nice note. Take care!

    I do welcome the improvements as the tent was no longer competitive, but my main question is whether they have moved to polyester for the fly fabric. The fabric is "more technical". lol. I also wonder whether the rain gutter works any better. I think there were many users that do not like the current rain gutter.

    Why decrease the amount of mesh? That helps with air curculation and reduces condensation. Will price be reduced since mesh is more expensive and that mesh footprint has been reduced?

    • @jjmcwill2007
      @jjmcwill2007 4 місяці тому +2

      Pros & Cons. More mesh may be nicer in hot weather but it will feel colder on colder nights especially when it's breezy. Also, I've camped in Death Valley NP with a tent that had a more solid inner and really appreciated having it. It was windy and the fine desert sand gets into EVERYTHING. Less mesh gives you more protection from that fine sand getting blown into your tent and getting into your sleeping gear, etc.

    • @Engearment
      @Engearment  5 місяців тому

      I would imagine for protection from rain (and possibly snow) from bouncing into the tent. We get crazy microburst storms here in Colorado, and I appreciate it when ten bases go higher up. Just my 2 cents.

      @@adventureswithken1983 Great question! I would consider this a three-season tent, but I have used three-season tents in snow. Finally, MSR/Cascade implemented features, which the competition has since years😋. Connection points at the tent: STS Alto/Telos, pull loops: almost every other brand, bigger side baffles: big agnes/ exped. But better late than never😀. Now please improve the pumpbags for the pads and bring back the individual tent footprints instead the one size fits all ones which cannot be connected to the pole ends anymore.

    My BIL bought a $450 Hubba Hubba 2. I bought the NatureHike knockoff for $130. Virtually identical. His stitching is tearing just from the dog brushing up again the zipper with his side. Mine has no issues. The weight difference is negligible if you're fit. He's ready to trash his. I'm not. Just something to consider.

    • @Engearment
      @Engearment  5 місяців тому +4

      That is a good insight. Also worth noting is that many MSR products are made in the USA, in Washington state. So, there is the element of supporting the local (if you are in the US, of course) economy. Something to consider as well. Thank you for the helpful feedback, too!

    • @aydinsha
      @aydinsha 2 місяці тому

      @@Engearment I think it's silly to tell someone to "support local/US made" just for the sake of it when the person has said their alternative is way cheaper AND higher quality. People don't just pay higher bc it's "made in America", they expect that phrase to also mean high quality.
