  • Replacing a drain pump on an LG washer/dryer combo unit is a relatively easy job. It takes me about an hour. In this video, I show, step by step, how I replaced mine on an LG model WM3987. Safety first! Unplug your unit before you begin the repair.

    Thank you SO much. My circuit board failed and a repairman quoted me $1,000 for labor + parts to replace. I saw online that the pump shorting out often causes the circuit board to fail so I replaced the board and the pump. Couldn’t have done it without this video. You saved me $500!

    This self help video is great, it shows step by step what one needs to do, many just buy new washer/dryer but the cost is very high. I hope more people learn to do repairs themselves and save themself more money. Nothing comes easy or cheap anymore. With job losses and incomes dropping this can save a family a bundle on their appliance. Thank you nice video.

    Thank you Rosie! Your video is an inspiration that women can do maintenance, construction, etc. (anything a man can do). I often get sideways looks for telling older men that I know how to do *insert "man's" job* because I am a women. It is so refreshing to see videos uploaded by women who can DIY their own things!

    Wow you are awesome! After draining my machine, same as yours, draining with the black tub filling a 1/2 bucket of water I determined with your video I need a new drain pump. Each step you show was just on target, great job with all the details I really appreciate it and I too will not cheap out on this pump and get the original by LG. Thank you and good work!

    Thanks for the video, sadly, I went through all this on my WM3997HWA and still get the OE code, Snaked the drain pipe, compared volume out of drainpipe to measuring in, and it is fine. Checked all the other hoses on the machine, etc.
    No joy, died 92 days after warranty expiration, I am off to buy a different brand this time.

    Are you positive you have the wires on correctly? On mine, the blue wire is on top and the black on the bottom, same with the Brown and black wires. Good video.

    Thank you, Rosie. I have a different model but am having difficulty removing the front panel. I don't see any more screws but there must be something keeping it on. My issue is a cracked drain hose so I have to remove the entire assembly or try to replace the one hose that is cracked that goes out through the back. Just wondering if you've had to replace that.

    Thanks for the instructive video, what is the orange thing on the rubber seal? Is that a sensor for the door? You can see it at 7:40 it's located 12 o'clock .. mine happen to be positioned at 3 o'clock .. does it matter?

    Hello, and thank you for this video. I have the same washer/dryer model. However, when I opened it up, there was NO casing/cover on the pump (there is a cover on the right side of it where the blue/black power cords are). Also, my wiring was reversed from what you have. It was brown in front, black in back (and blue on top, black on bottom on the right side)
    I am very concerned. I would like to get the casing to cover the pump like it is on the right side of the unit, and the reversed wiring is bizarre. The pump was replaced once before while under warranty so it was done by the LG technician himself.

    • @rosieokelly
      @rosieokelly  4 роки тому +1

      Just make sure you follow the same wiring color format as when you found it. The case is just a safety layer in case water drips down or a rubber hose leaks.. good luck...always take tons of pictures of how you found it hooked up, before you remove and do a reinstall
