@@RealMNeutral31 anything compressor, overdrive, distortion, wah, or boost is usually put by most players in front of the amp for the reason being that you want to push the tubes
I bought my MT-2 when they first came out, there was nothing like it at the time. I like noise, I like bees in cans, I like what everyone else hates, perfect pedal for me.
My first pedal years ago was a boss metal zone & honestly I loved it. I had a Mesa Boogie triple rec & I could make it sound super close to the triple rec.
This is one of the best hi gain pedals, most people don’t like it cuz they don’t know how to dial the pedal properly with their rig, you can play all from classic rock to heavy metal and doom and stoner with the swept of it’s semiparametric eq, in my years as pedal designer 20 years ago I put 2 swicthes for 3 different types of gain and 2 different voicing that make it the best metal in a box I ever her, kudos to Pete you get great sound out of this monster, would be nice to instruct people how to use this machine to unleash it’s great potential
I never had one of these pedals. No, I'm older than that... I had the Heavy Metal HM-2 pedal, purchased the year it was introduced. In fact, I just sold it a few months ago... it's amazing that it still worked perfectly after all those decades.
Many thanks for this video!! Watched “Another UA-camr” and I was not aware of just how versatile this pedal is and was put off!! After watching your video am gonna pull the trigger!! Liked and subscribed!! Kudos from the UK!!!
I have been using it as a boost in the front of my amp on the gain channel with the level at 1 o'clock position and distortion at 0 (zero), then with the mids take the lower mid knob at 9 o'clock upper mid knob to 12 o'clock. Treble/bass High knob 1 o'clock /lows 2 o'clock. all approximate but give it a try. Sounded better with my amp than in the loop as a ore amp
AWESOME!!!! AND a very clear and understandeble review of the boss metalzone!! Great work Pete! Love youre amazing playing, and youre reviews!! Very helpfull, and very inspiring!! Thank you for this!! Big fan here!
in My "Metallica /Slayer Year´s" i LOVED that Pedal it makes a METAL Machine out of my Marshall Class 5 Bluescombo XD, Now i think i will Put it on my new Friedman 12x30 Pedalboard , as one of four Distortion Pedals (Omg i think i´m crazyy)
Heavy intro tune, Pete! Damn man loved those diminished hammer on licks! Great playing. Btw I put a set of thorn buckers in a 92 PRS CE , sounds amazing. Thanks
Best tone I've heard out of that thing so far!
Okay, I'm really digging the heavier side of Pete Thorn. You are a metal monster Pete!!!
I saw Priest on Defenders tour... Ozzy in 83... Metallica on Mater Of Puppets.. Maiden on Powerslave. Old school metal was something I grew up with! 🤘
Master lol dammit I hate typing on the phone
Your range of talent runs through so many different genres of music - it truly is inspiring! Thank you Pete!
I agree with this comment. BAdass metal playing sir
Okay this is soooo unfair.... Pete can make a radio shack pizza box sound good! Great demo!
I was about to write exactly the same but you were faster (26 minutes, it says)!
Yes he can. He can make a can of sardines sound great. I wish I could do what Pete Thorn does as good or better than he does. I love his demos.
Is it still better in the xfex loop or in the front?
Legend has it that Pete plugged piece of drift wood into an empty soup can and recorded studio quality music with it....music remains unreleased.

Dude u are like a never ending riff machine. Always gets me inspired. U the man Pete keep em coming!
Thank you!
Pete, please find that unknown singer and put that next huuuge rock band together that we're all waiting on brother!!! Thanks for what u do!
Sounds like you've been on a Mastodon/Opeth trip lately. I like it!
NASTY!! That was incredible and I've never heard that pedal sound so good.
I keep coming back to this video not only due to the great tones Pete got, but that solo too. I love it.
I bought my MT-2 when they first came out, there was nothing like it at the time. I like noise, I like bees in cans, I like what everyone else hates, perfect pedal for me.
I watch this video every couple of months. OG Metal Zone is my first pedal. metal rules!
I always liked the eq on this pedal and now it's even better. Great demo, as usual. Thanks!
riniones I agree. The old version gave many more tonal options than a standard distortion. I’m looking forward to the new incarnation as well
The more Pete Thorn videos I watch the more I realize they are the best gear review videos
Thanks Brandon!
Man I'm so glad you did this pedal because if Pete Thorn does a demo on a pedal it is worth checking out.
I dont need one, but I kinda want one now...
Hey Pete, I run an Earthquaker Palisades into the original Metal Zone and it is one of the best sounds I've ever heard
Great demo I've watched this a bunch of times and still love it.
I realize it's been out for a good bit but that tone always inspires me.
You’re the man! Your demos are incredible.
Thank u!!!
Really first-class demo. No excuse now for not knowing what this pedal can do. For metal guys, this might actually be worth the higher price.
coolest track for this pedal, sounded immense
Once again. Sneaking amazing MUSIC into a "gear review". Love it!
Thanks!
I really like the sub ten-minute demo videos, and that the emphasis is on the range of sounds available rather than talking to camera!
Hi. I am back for the METAL ZONE!!!
My first pedal years ago was a boss metal zone & honestly I loved it. I had a Mesa Boogie triple rec & I could make it sound super close to the triple rec.
I love the Metal Zone pedal!! I’m using this pedal in my performance next week 😈🤘!!!
Great track Pete. The Song has a Nevermore/ Jeff Loomis vibe.
I thought the same
Note to all, Pete is a master at review videos.
Love them all.
Thanks for this 🤘🤘
I would have to say Pete is the one that is versatile more so than the pedal. He can make anything sound awesome.

That parametric mid is awesome. Love seeing you dial in great tones and listening to it go from not so good to great as you do. Helps my ear training.

Great lick. Where did you pull this out of? Pete has gone heavy. Awesome!!!!!
Were you running into the front of the amp? Did you try using the effects loop( power section only)?
That riff was f**king nasty
I wish I could press the like button twice. I'm not even interested on the pedal, I just came for the playing
This needs some Dug on bass. As always, thank you for the content.
Great tune, loved the review, thanks Pete!
