Honestly I expected the tainted characters would be challenge characters with super strong unlocks but I too find them sometimes even more fun than the original cast. I guess going with spins instead of just challenges was a good idea on the dev team.
Gonna have to hard disagree about Tainted Lazarus, definitely horrible tier, he has no advantage whatsoever, dude is just a handicap for no reason. At least Jacob and Esau(Who I don't like either) can dps together at the same time, Tainted Lazarus just has two separate item pools for the hell of it and seems pointless and unfun cuz in no situation does it help you. With a lot of the harder characters they at least have a gimmick that gives them some sort of an advantage like Tainted Losts better items and stats.
This tierlist is about concept of the character, not difficulty. T. Lasarus has pretty interesting concept compared to the Jacob and esau, who are just two characters.

Because in the video you describe Azazel as being boring because of the brimstone and flight and just overpowered, but in terms of tier lists they tend to be organized by how strong characters are. (For example tainted Judas is in masterpiece tier)
Somethings to note: Tainted cain is actually stronger than tainted maggy due to recipe searching, if you know the recipes its physically impossible to lose as tainted cain (so much so that if you ever get tried of playing a tainted character for unlocks the recommended strat is to play tainted cain, make an op run and then clicker into your new character after making some battery packs) Also I highly disagree with tainted laz as they are currently due to how its essentially like playing half a character through out the run (that said he is confirmed to be getting a buff so that will likely change that) Love the list though, somethings I disagree with but still
Tainted Azazel for me is an awesome idea, it feels so good to use and it is actually fun. However, while he has no real trouble on the early floors, having that x0.5 damage multiplier is really bad later on, since you can't take the risk to sneeze on enemies just to be able to do "normal" damage (unless you are strong enough, in which case you don't even really need to sneeze at all) Tainted Bethany's book generate items based on the current room"s item pool, so storing up red hearts and using them in the Devil/Angel room can make you very OP. Also, same as Tainted Judas, the soul converter allows her to break the game.
Idk, just ignored the 0,5x multiplier and got entire completion mark's page without caring about sneezing, the damage is strong even if lowered by 50% and you have infinite range, so pretty gucci ngl
You might have your Tainted Lazarus and Jacob and Esau switched. As J&E you actually get the benefit of having two items at once, also you can still get two items just by moving them individually. Lazarus is just awful in that there is only ever one character at once, effectively halving your items. If you could switch freely between them it wouldn't be an issue but with Flip's charge time makes that too difficult.

I love the new tainted characters. My favorite one is actualy tainted Eden, their ability makes that all your items are "balanced" (because you will lose any bad or good items when you get hit) while still being able to get consistinly good items in the form of devil and angel deals.
Azazel is the most fun character to play imo. His attacks rely the most on patience and timing. One wrong item can utterly ruin him if it slows his charge time. It would leave him defenseless upon entering any room, especially later on. He can get easily screwed if the game doesn't give dark hearts, max hp boosts, dark bum, or most importantly ludovico technique. It's almost impossible to beat the main bosses that are bullet hellish with him unless you have 3 friends till the end, maxed range, quad shot, four eyes, or a ton of max hp. Plus, all of these items become considerably harder to find with the loot pool expansions from afterbirth and +. Which I feel nerfs him properly by making him high risk high reward. A glass cannon.
The cool thing about T. Azazel's short range "Sneeze" (That's how it's called I'm pretty sure) is that it gives enemies a reddish color that lowers their defense for a few seconds. So it's a cool combo to strike some sneezes and then deal the full blast for some big damage.
Maggy is actually busted if u got some time.. just reroll till u get a sacrifice room and sacrafice all of ur hearts till u get an angel deal or an angel deal item and enjoy ur run with usually a atleast decent item for free in basement 1.. My first time doing this i got Eucharist in the angel deal so i got 100% angel deal chance every floor.. and well angel deal items r pretty good so i was busted af pretty early epsecially when u get the stairway giving u so many angel deal items..
Tainted Laz's only upside is having 2 health bars, trying to do anything as that abomination of a character is just painful. I would swap him and Jacob and Esau on the list (maybe moving J&E down 1 or 2 tiers) since they can at least both fire at the same time and you can stack one brother with tons of damage in order to make damage multipliers work properly while splitting health evenly. Plus there's the cheese of going to alternate floors to get items for both of them. For Tainted Laz, it's not uncommon to only get like 3-4 damage ups in a run, when you have to split those damage ups between two characters that can only fire separately, you end up feeling heavily underpowered the entire run whereas it would've been a decent run if you were just playing a regular character. Do you have any idea how much it sucks to have to fight the Beast with only like 5 damage and 3.5 fire rate on both characters? Tainted Laz just turns decent runs into shit runs and god runs into decent runs. He doesn't even have a Birthright effect yet and he's the one character that actually desperately needs one. Hell, his Delirium unlock doesn't even fucking do anything since the item you unlock isn't even obtainable yet. "Congrats you beat the hardest boss in game with a shitty character, have a fat load of NOTHING!"
I just feel like having 2 characters to control and bigger hit boxes is less fun then playing with one character. But I would say I rated tainted Lazarus to high on the list
Great list, I feel almost every character is where they belong. Tainted Lilith is probably my favorite tainted character, but I can understand your argument. Tainted Lazarus was a really annoying character for me personally, having to overpower one character and making the other practically defenseless was something I could never get the hang of. Also, I’ve never been a huge fan of Tainted Cain. One either has to improvise and try to make good items without a guide, which often results in making crap despite the amount of effort you put into making the item, or relying solely on a guide which feels cheap. Also regular Eve is a really fun character for me since I activate wob immediately so that she starts as strong as Judas. Still, great list :)
Mandem really out here using bing. Jokes aside, great list bro! I'd personally put lost higher up because you can go devil deals and all the curse rooms for the low price of git gud basically. Can be frustrating if you die but also can spiral out of control and become op REAL QUICK.
The possitive about tainted lost is that you get no useless items, however you also don't get any defensive items, and all 0-2 quality items are rerolled, this makes you have to rely purely on your dps, which is going to be way higher with this character due to the high starting damage and high chance of getting damage and tears up. I love tainted Jacob, he is by far my favorite character, kind of a glass canon which I love, being able to steam roll through the run using Esau is so fun but no overpowered as he could kill you as well. Tainted cain is sadly boring to me, I love the concept but he feels like a chore, I don't have fun playing him although I always wish I did/ always want to play him hoping I will have fun this time. I hate jacob and esau, by far my least favorite character. My favorite non-tainted character is also forgotten, I always get frustrated when I see streamers using him swinging every time when you can effectively double his tear delay by swinging then throwing the minimum distance and repeat
azazel is amazing :3 theres a spesific devil deal item the eye symbol with 2 tears and it makes you be able to control all your tears yea that one and there you won that run, its so op and its fun being powerful imo :3
Very interesting take on Tainted Lazarus. I see him as J+E without the main benefit of J+E (extra firepower). He's slow, you have to constantly backtrack to ration health around and put the right item on the right guy, flip's recharge is way too long, one of them always ends up underpowered because each has half of a normal build and getting unlucky with boss items puts you in an even worse position, you cant take 2 pedestals like you can with J+E... so much more could have been done with him and his gimmick, and he's officially labeled as an unfinished character. I would fix him in a lot of ways if i could... like boss room pool items giving the one that didn't pick them up half the stat boosts so that you don't end up with one of them having garbage stats. If you want an even crazier idea, devil and angel rooms now just spawn as one mixed room, with one item from each pool, and one costs money, one costs health, and each lazarus can only the devil/angel item (say, living gets devil dead gets angel or vice versa). Also, HP ups give the same number of soul hearts to the one that didn't take them. With the repentance tinted rocks being rarer, it makes it even tougher to ration between the two. Obviously you do you, but I cannot stand him, easily my least favorite character for how boring he is. Oh, and mods do not excuse him either.
Finally someone who doesnt hate lilith this is the only tierlist ive seen where i agree with most of what the person said [except cain and his tainted version cause i have a bias and find them boring] but overall i liked this tierlist
I can see the tainted version maybe Especialy once the patch it so that you dont get lost unlocks But normal Jacob and the tumor he calls a brother....
@@notloopers1110 The tainted version is infinitely worse than the original character. While J&E have plenty of benefits going for them despite how unconventional they are as a character in general, tainted Jacob practically has none past the earlier floors.
Finally a jacob and tumor fan, for me its a very fun character because you have to think what give to who especialy the tainted version because it changes all the game experience
Never liked Tainted laz, its just like 'have half stats'. At least you get full dps on Jacob and Esau, you just have to split the health. Tainted laz horrible or really bad tier for me just because I find him unfun due to never feeling powerful (or even decent most runs). I'm happy someone likes him at least
I also found out that neither rune bag or the relic seem to be working. Or maybe i died to early to found out. But i have a theory that none of the room clear effects works and that sucks.

Is it a bias list, is it how good they are? Like whats thr goal here? Cause Maggy really high is kinda questionable on both. Others like Azazel make me think it's pure bias, but then why Maggy so high?
I mean, Maggy is a really good character now, her pill being able to abuse sacrifice rooms easily and her tanky stats being very useful in repentance, and tainted maggy is just kind of broken
In my opinion they are the worst character ever put in the game just because how hard it is to actually have fun with them. You can get a good fun run going with them but most of the time once you unlock everything for them you don't want to go back. I didn't like them in antibirth and I don't like them here. But other then them I think repentance is great.

I think Jacob and Esau actually are Masterpiece characters. You can cheat some item and angel rooms with them and it's kinda fun to play coop by yourself. Tho i get it why some people don't like them. Still, i just wanted to leave my opinion. ^^
and plus with the tainted version of them you can 1.use dark esau for lotsa damage 2. turn urself into the lost for free devil deals and curse rooms 3. you can even strategize with dark esau to clear rooms with ease
As a fellow J&E fan, they're really something diffirent than any other character where you have basic Isaac experience - go ahead and try not to get hurt. 2 spacebar items, double bombing, snitching extra item from pedestals, makes me feel like a war tactician
I feel like I'd have a specific tier just called "Apollyon" cause my relationship with that character is bizarre. I have the lowest of lows with that character on average with the game giving me dogshit items with him but at the same time he's the FIRST character I've beaten The Beast with, first character I've unlocked the tainted version of, and the second ever kill I had on Delerium.
I mean, Apollyon’s point is when you get worse items, you can just void them for better stats. Plus, getting worse items isn’t necessarily because of the character

jacob and esau is a undervalued character, its too hated because they are two but thats is what make it great because is very original you have to think your future strategies (because you need to think who will have the item) you have the double of power is hard to control but if you learn you will became god and the same happends with t-jacob, is very hated just for dark esau trying to kill you
So far my most hated one's are Tainted Eve, Tainted Lost, Tainted Eden, and Tainted Jacob and Esau, though both Jacob and Esau character versions are kinda garbage. Also the randomness of tainted Eden was like. NO STOP NO! That meme, every single time you get hit. Especially when it actually removed health from my character.
Videos like this need to clarify in the title whether its based on how FUN the character is or how GOOD they are and pick only one to base the tier list off of. You cant mix and match the FUN and GOOD aspects for most characters because most characters are either low or high based on which one is chosen.

SUPER fucking boring real fast all she has going for her is: yum heart ONE extra heart container full health pill which USED to be the generally better speed up pill if she had some kind of damage increase compared to isaac, then I wouldn't hate her because she's meant to be a TANK character y'know, high health, defense, AND attack? magdalene just has high health with the exact SAME amount of damage as isaac now TAINTED maggy on the other hand.. SHE'S got something that makes her NOT boring and actually E N G A G I N G TO F U C K I N G P L A Y tainted maggy has her yum heart be a consumable instead of an active item, which is very fucking good she ALSO has a "hug" attack whenever she takes damage she ALSO also causes enemies to drop half red hearts when they are killed by her, similar to tainted keeper causing enemies to drop pennies, nickels, and dimes whenever he kills them and she gets a FREE anemic effect whenever her health starts draining
I think T Cain should be at most amazing, at least very good. While I agree, amazing character and mechanic, any run with him that isn't random shitty items is a 5 hr long game break fest where you just look up item recipes and take 99% of your run on an early floor
This part of J&E is pretty cool, not gonna lie. The thing that makes J&E so frustrating for most people (me included) is the fact that you're almost always low on hp on both of them because you have more characters to feed with hearts Another issue is complicated and confusing controls (although if you play this character for long enough, you can get used to it) Next up, the most annoying thing for me personally - dodging. There were so many times where i just couldn't avoid taking damage because the hitboxes for J&E together were so big. This also makes squeezing through small gaps to escape enemies a nightmare because almost always one of two will get stuck on a rock or something. And lastly, it's really hard to do boss rush or hush with J&E because you need a lot of planning to make the build up for those 2 balanced and good which takes too much time.

Hopefully, as they’re still working on things behind the scenes, Jacob gets some buffs that makes playing them less like pulling teeth.

I think he's fun to play the first few times but he is the hardest character to find interesting synergies with.
And he gets repetitive very quickly

I love Alt beth, went for planetarium and angel rooms and just spammed lemegeton there, love it, done all hard completions in like a day or two

Very interesting take on Tainted Lazarus. I see him as J+E without the main benefit of J+E (extra firepower). He's slow, you have to constantly backtrack to ration health around and put the right item on the right guy, flip's recharge is way too long, one of them always ends up underpowered because each has half of a normal build and getting unlucky with boss items puts you in an even worse position, you cant take 2 pedestals like you can with J+E... so much more could have been done with him and his gimmick, and he's officially labeled as an unfinished character. I would fix him in a lot of ways if i could... like boss room pool items giving the one that didn't pick them up half the stat boosts so that you don't end up with one of them having garbage stats. If you want an even crazier idea, devil and angel rooms now just spawn as one mixed room, with one item from each pool, and one costs money, one costs health, and each lazarus can only the devil/angel item (say, living gets devil dead gets angel or vice versa). Also, HP ups give the same number of soul hearts to the one that didn't take them. With the repentance tinted rocks being rarer, it makes it even tougher to ration between the two.
Obviously you do you, but I cannot stand him, easily my least favorite character for how boring he is. Oh, and mods do not excuse him either.

@@notloopers1110 The tainted version is infinitely worse than the original character. While J&E have plenty of benefits going for them despite how unconventional they are as a character in general, tainted Jacob practically has none past the earlier floors.
@@bluerious5475 you can ARGUE that the lost form's free devil deals are worth it, but its far to risky to get into the lost form anyways

Never liked Tainted laz, its just like 'have half stats'. At least you get full dps on Jacob and Esau, you just have to split the health.
Tainted laz horrible or really bad tier for me just because I find him unfun due to never feeling powerful (or even decent most runs). I'm happy someone likes him at least
I also found out that neither rune bag or the relic seem to be working. Or maybe i died to early to found out. But i have a theory that none of the room clear effects works and that sucks.

It's how much I enjoy playing them
I mean, Maggy is a really good character now, her pill being able to abuse sacrifice rooms easily and her tanky stats being very useful in repentance, and tainted maggy is just kind of broken
the fact that almost all tainted characters are on the top 3 ranks just shows how great they are
Tainted maggy with car battery and nun's habbit with a Perc's pill = HUG dellerium and win by pressing q
You dont even need all that effort, just get sharp plug and you win the game

In my opinion they are the worst character ever put in the game just because how hard it is to actually have fun with them. You can get a good fun run going with them but most of the time once you unlock everything for them you don't want to go back. I didn't like them in antibirth and I don't like them here. But other then them I think repentance is great.

I think Jacob and Esau actually are Masterpiece characters. You can cheat some item and angel rooms with them and it's kinda fun to play coop by yourself. Tho i get it why some people don't like them. Still, i just wanted to leave my opinion. ^^
and plus with the tainted version of them you can
1.use dark esau for lotsa damage
2. turn urself into the lost for free devil deals and curse rooms
3. you can even strategize with dark esau to clear rooms with ease
As a fellow J&E fan, they're really something diffirent than any other character where you have basic Isaac experience - go ahead and try not to get hurt. 2 spacebar items, double bombing, snitching extra item from pedestals, makes me feel like a war tactician
I remember how I died from laugh when I had 2 erasers on them and I was just breaking through empty floors xD
I feel like I'd have a specific tier just called "Apollyon" cause my relationship with that character is bizarre. I have the lowest of lows with that character on average with the game giving me dogshit items with him but at the same time he's the FIRST character I've beaten The Beast with, first character I've unlocked the tainted version of, and the second ever kill I had on Delerium.
I mean, Apollyon’s point is when you get worse items, you can just void them for better stats. Plus, getting worse items isn’t necessarily because of the character

So far my most hated one's are Tainted Eve, Tainted Lost, Tainted Eden, and Tainted Jacob and Esau, though both Jacob and Esau character versions are kinda garbage. Also the randomness of tainted Eden was like. NO STOP NO! That meme, every single time you get hit. Especially when it actually removed health from my character.

Videos like this need to clarify in the title whether its based on how FUN the character is or how GOOD they are and pick only one to base the tier list off of. You cant mix and match the FUN and GOOD aspects for most characters because most characters are either low or high based on which one is chosen.
Tainted Lazarus is worse than Jacob & Esau for me. At least they get to keep one-room bonuses between waves.

full health pill which USED to be the generally better speed up pill
if she had some kind of damage increase compared to isaac, then I wouldn't hate her because she's meant to be a TANK character

now TAINTED maggy on the other hand..

tainted maggy has her yum heart be a consumable instead of an active item, which is very fucking good
she ALSO has a "hug" attack whenever she takes damage
she ALSO also causes enemies to drop half red hearts when they are killed by her, similar to tainted keeper causing enemies to drop pennies, nickels, and dimes whenever he kills them
and she gets a FREE anemic effect whenever her health starts draining
Bethany is my favorite. I'm okay with her being rated at Great.
Item tier list
I think T Cain should be at most amazing, at least very good. While I agree, amazing character and mechanic, any run with him that isn't random shitty items is a 5 hr long game break fest where you just look up item recipes and take 99% of your run on an early floor

This part of J&E is pretty cool, not gonna lie.
The thing that makes J&E so frustrating for most people (me included) is the fact that you're almost always low on hp on both of them because you have more characters to feed with hearts
Another issue is complicated and confusing controls (although if you play this character for long enough, you can get used to it)
Next up, the most annoying thing for me personally - dodging. There were so many times where i just couldn't avoid taking damage because the hitboxes for J&E together were so big. This also makes squeezing through small gaps to escape enemies a nightmare because almost always one of two will get stuck on a rock or something.
And lastly, it's really hard to do boss rush or hush with J&E because you need a lot of planning to make the build up for those 2 balanced and good which takes too much time.
