    I really like these links. The way it shows the ''Photoshop Page'' makes it so much EASIER! to follow instructions. Too many other sites are showing the Photoshop Page are too small, thus making it difficult to see what they are clicking on. The instructions are concise and narration is just the right speed. This is the perfect site for a Dummy like me. Thank You.

      You're welcome. Smart layers can be very useful when you are bringing in photos that are larger than your project. Saves you some time. They also protect the image from accidental changes.

    I like making photobook pages in PSE (basically a collage). I typically select the files I want to use from Organizer which puts them in the Elements Photo Bin. Now I can drag a photo from the Photo Bin into my collage page. It comes in as a smart object. Maybe this is another method you can mention.
    Place is nice, but you have know where the photos are and hope that the list is short enough to find the photos you want quickly.

    Thank you George, your tutorials are excellent and easy to follow. The idea of using floating window appeals to me. I noticed when trying it out using two windows, in the process of a trail run, something in what I did gave me two split horizontal tabs of the two windows. I didn't know how to reverse the process. Any ideas?

      Very sad, have said goodbye to almost too many pets over the years to count, I always wish they didn't lead such short lives. But the one I still think about the most was my pet dog that I grew up with. I understand the sorrow, hang onto the good memories. Great tutorial! Always a pleasure to watch and follow. Just need some clarification George; when using the place command (found under the heading file) to bring in a smart photo, does Elements resize/readjust it to fit the working file, and if it does, because it's a smart layer, will it also make changes to the dimensions of the original. Does Elements also resize/readjust the non smart floating document size when placing it on the working file?.

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Brian, the Place command reduces an image to fit the working file but does not do anything to the original. If the image being placed is smaller than the working file it will show it at 100% of original size, it won't enlarge it to fit. If you use the floating document trick where you drag and drop from one file to another PSE will not change the size at all. I normally use this technique, for no particular reason.

      @@HTGGeorge How do you resize or enlarge the picture you are photoshopping into a picture?

  • @cindykato4102
    @cindykato4102 7 місяців тому

    Great techniques, but I'm having a devil of a time saving the file as a tiff. The background inevitably gets left out no matter what I try - I've tried leaving out layers, flattening, rearranging, nothing seems to work to allow me to see in the saved tiff what I see on the screen. After 2 hours of trying and failing, I saved it as a jpeg after flattening and voila! I don't mind that for this particular picture, but I will be working on a lot of vintage photos that I might want to use layers on and keep in TIFF files. How do I save as a tiff file after doing everything in your video? Your videos always stop short of that, and I can't seem to find any articles or videos on it. Thanks for your help.

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  7 місяців тому

      Hi, you don't need to use Tiff and you don't need to do any flattening of layers. Just leave the file as a psd file, it will retain all of your work. Then save it out as a jpg if you want to share it or put it up on the internet. For all other uses just leave it as the psd file.

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  3 роки тому +2

      Hi, if the area inside the blank frame is clear then just put your photo on a layer under the Santa frame photo. If the area is white then you will need to remove that first. Maybe this video will help, it is a similar idea ua-cam.com/video/Z0kQPp-cbIQ/v-deo.html

    The official release date is tomorrow. Im using MacOs Monterey. Not a good start.

      I only use Windows, so no experience with the Mac version. But I do know that PSE is written for Windows and then Adobe ports the coding over to Mac, this will often lead to problems.

    How can I crop images and keep them in the layer ?...

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Tim, make sure you are on the correct layer, then use the ctrl+t keyboard shortcut to bring up the transform options. This will also bring up the control handles on the image on that layer. You can then use those handles to resize that layer. Or if you want to Crop the image on that layer the best way to do that is with a Layer Mask. Using the rectangular marquee tool draw a rectangle on your image approximately where you want to crop the image, if you need to adjust that selection go to the Select Menu and choose Transform Selection, this will give you control handles on the selection. Get that selection perfect for your crop then click on the Layer Mask tool, rectangle with a circle in it, at the top of the layer menu. This will give you a layer mask showing just the area inside the rectangle selection. Everything else will be hidden. IF you want to crop the whole image then use the Crop tool in the tools panel.
