I wish guiding light would air on a streaming service. Even if it was only the 70s or 80s.

Excellent interview, Alan. It great to hear Morgan and his life story. We baby boomers remember his mom, of course. It was interesting to hear that Morgan learned to play the piano from his grandmother who you may remember played Mrs. Stephens on Bewitched (Samatha’s mother-in-law). Her brother, Jack Albertson was best known in Chico and The Man. He also played Shelly Winters husband in The Poseidon Adventure. What a wonderful family legacy Morgan has and such talent with Morgan’s daughter, Anabel. It’s wonderful that Morgan wants to inspire and teach others in his public speaking. Thanks Alan and of course, Morgan, too.

Alan, you are an excellent host. You allow your guests to speak without interruption and like the audience learn from your guests. Morgan's account of his late brother's addiction was heartwrenching ,and I think that we need this subject to be addressed more. He showed that his mother was not a beloved actress but a parent of someone with addiction. Perhaps, one of your best interviews, and I apologize for taking your valuable time. Best wishes.

Loved Morgan as Dylan on G L, he made Dylan very likable. Loved Jack Albertson in many things like Chico & the Man & Mabel Albertson on Bewitched & many TV shows & movies. Loved his mom Cloris Leachman on everything I saw her in. Morgan & his daughter Anabel are very talented also. Loved the interview. Morgan looks great, good to see him.💛

Great interview, good to see Morgan and good that his daughter is doing good, wish them both continue success. Morgan was great as Dylan. That would be great if you can get Carl Evans to do The Locher Room, and maybe bring on Beth Ehlers to join, those two had sparks together, had tremendous chemistry!

The Circle theater he mentions (not the school) was Circle Rep and was on 7th Ave South. I was leaving a show there once and trying to grab a cab, Morgan was down the block with some people and started to grab the cab before it got to me. I started to get angry but then he laughed. He was joking and let the cab proceed to me. I recently watched the production of Picnic Englund did here on UA-cam. It was recorded as a Broadway on Showtime production. Betty Rea would have been around 72 when he auditioned. (Side note. I auditioned for her once ...... her reaction to me wasn't as good as hers to him. ;) )

I never knew Morgan was Cloris Leachman's son. That's cool. I remember when Morgan (as Dylan Lewis) sang for Josh and Reva's wedding in 1999. Guiding Light and The Facts Of Life had so many connections. Cloris Leachman (Morgan's mom) played Beverlyanne in seasons 8 and 9. Signy Coleman (Annie Dutton #2) guest starred on an episode. It was the one where Tootie was going to join a sorority. Liz Keifer (Blake Marler #3) guest starred on an episode playing a date of George's. Marj Dusay (Alexandra Spaulding #2) had a recurring role as Blair's mom.

Finally got done watching this wonderful interview I always loved Morgan englund as Dylan
Just curios why the show never explored more Harley and Dylan or a Dylan Lucy pairing. Anyway a great conversation that took many directions and like Morgan I am into sound wave therapy but unlike Morgan I am not into doing it with others but as I said last year I like the Dr jeffrey thompson healing cds for brainwave reprogaming work like the awakened mind system one and two.
Plus the gamma meditation system one and 2 which was devoloped from studies done at MIT from measuring Tibetan monks while meditating. Using an electro encelograph machine and for me I like them in CD form with a portable CD player and a good pair of Sony headphones. I also enjoy another set of cds one that is called light and water. They are all part of the sounds true series. But like I also said you need to be careful such as systems like the holosync series which to me is a money making scheme to get you to spend money on things not needed.
And Alan when my ear is not still healing from a ruptured ear drum I have an ear for sound like Eddie van Halen had or an yngwie malnsteen and I can pick up the diferences in tone even with electronic guitars and digital modeling amps. And I bring that up because in a lot of music forums on electric guitars they keep going ohh the wood in a solid body guitar does not matter because of the pickups and amps and that's just simply not true if my ears can tell a difference even with a modeling Amp them that means there is a difference and
I bring that up because even though I might not be a very technical guitar player I still have a very good ear and even when I am listening to healing cds my hearing can hear the frequency vibrations that most can't hear. It was not always the case but I have had that ability for almost the last 16 years.
Anyway love that Morgan is into musicianship too.
And loved the fact like usual Alan your conversations take soo many diferent directions even if it might not always be the easiest to have whether discussing gay charecters or dificult things in life like drug addictions or mental health issues we need to learn to have compassion again in Society again and for goodness sake stop trying to label everybody this or that just because they might be diferent or learn differently or not want to conform to what society thinks is acceptable and again it was daytime television that taught us compassion like with dealing with aids or incest or even with charecters like Barbara Ryan or lucinda or countless others who did bad things at times that they could also show tremendous compassion whether it was Barbara embracing her gay fashion designer hank Elliot or lucinda doing the same thing with Luke although I still think that one was a mistake.
And Alan I being that up because until I saw that comment about brothers I completely forgot that I enjoyed watching that show in reruns eve though it had gay charecters it was well written.
But could only air on showtime but it did delve into some controversial subjects even though it was a sitcom.
Also Alan I forgot Phillip Charles MacKenzie played the flamboyant gay charecter that was a Carson kressley type who dressed a little bit like liberace did. Before I think he met his wife on a old fox sitcom Alison laplaca And Robin Riker had a part on the show. Years before she played a recast Beth Logan on bold and the beautiful.
Anyway Alan I hope you do check out the show on UA-cam.
But would be nice if it could get a proper DVD or blue ray release as I think a show like that could do good in today's society.

@@TheLocherRoom your welcome it's funny how there were shows that in today's age of streaming they try to bury like brothers or Ed.
But think of brothers as bieng kind of like stuff Doug Marland did with his showtime series or hank Elliot on as the world turns I think brothers may have even tackled aids but can't remember it's been like 25 years since I have been able to watch it. And it shows how showtime back in the 1980s actually was willing to air things like that.

  • @gabrielstern4992
    @gabrielstern4992 5 місяців тому +1

Alan sorry to chime in while just watching now but you do have a point about gay charecters but I will add some clarity to the one user's comments concerning gay charecters so I will start with Steven Carrington the charecter was introduced as gay but then the producers and writers were told to drop Steven as bieng gay and that's when Heather lochlear was brought in it was not until the 1991 reunion movie where Steven bieng gay or bisexaul suddenly reappeared. As for the TV show brothers that was ground breaking and took place in Philadelphia and was bold and I watched it on the old uhf channels in reruns but that show was relegated to cable and showtime as the main or big 3 networks would not air. It.
But you could watch reruns of it but ironically brothers has never been put up fir streaming or released on DVD.
But it did feature a flamboyant gay charecter and one of the brothers as sudenly coming out as gay to his family after calling off a wedding so Alan I encourage you to watch it on you tube but I have not seen brothers in years. Since the old Philly 57 stopped airing reruns in the early 1990s often late at night as it could not be aired during normal programing hours due to the gay charecters.
But soap was groundbreaking with Billy Chrystal. As well.
Just thought I would share especially concerning brothers which was a show I forgot about but Alan I think you should watch it and I think you would enjoy it as it did push the envelope just ashamed only cable channels could run it or uhf channels.

hey ALAN Great show!!!!!!!!how did u get the idea btw?i love Family im watching it for the first time now........in HD not on yt........i got m,y way...........anyhowq u wrong when u say u didnt have any gay role models on tv in the 80s........u forgot Steven on Dynasty and the cable sitcoim Brothers which had 2 lead gay characters, one flamboyant and one straight acting which was very important to show.and in the late 70s u had Billy Crystal on SOAP and Linda Gray on All that glitter being the very first transgender role.peraphs u werent watching tv back then so u had gay role models.
any chance for a future show t0 have JUDY AND AUDREY LANDERS together?they started on soaps in the early mid 70s and then became ICONS LATE 70S AND 80S.i would luv to see them together.please keep up the great show ciao

Thank you for sharing. Billy Crystal's character on Soap wasn't a role model. I definitely watched Steven Carrington and loved that, but we didn't have the luxury of what we have today. In 1976 / 77, Family was truly breaking ground with that storyline.
