There are plenty that are just sitting in the street empty or storage
Exactly...dirty, full of garbage, rain water, and vermin 🐀
There's one in front of my building and staff are just using it as smoking area.
Finally, take it down.
They all need to go.
Said the person who can’t understand nuance 😂 some need to go, some don’t, be less emotional
@@Tortilla.Reform you liked your own comment how pathetic.
@@roadkillgravy5168 Can you actually prove your emotional and dismissive assumption? I’ll wait 😂 other people exist who disagree with you, get over yourself hahaha
@@Tortilla.Reform 😂 its not nuanced you goof. No restaurants NEED them as you say 🤣 maybe they WANT them cause it creates more seating but they dont need them lol grow up
@@Hunterbidenscrackrock you seem to think that your personal opinion and choice to simplify things suddenly means that nuance doesn’t exist 😂 nice try though. And if you don’t understand how important more seating is to restaurants in a seasonal and changing industry, you’re just admitting to how little you know hahaha
I’d be scared of crazy drivers running into one.
Turn off the tv and phone
And rats
These sheds need to move for alternate street-side cleaning 2x a week just like cars.
Are you dense enough to compare a built and static structure to a car? Drinking again?
IT would help the worsening rat problem of them feeding on the table scraps that fall through the spaces between the floorboards.
@@rjd3wine You’re blindly assuming/making sweeping generalizations that they all have floorboards with gaps and that none of them are cleaned/vacuumed or hosed down hahah
@@Tortilla.Reform I can see the construction with my eyes (most have an elevated floor) and notice the rats darting back and forth when I pass those blocks especially when coming home in the evenings.
@@rjd3wine And I can also see rhe exact opposite of you with my own eyes, as many other people can. Do you see the problem with assuming your own personal anecdotal experience is representative of everyone elses?
Such a waste of materials... and space.
Unlike cars using the space as PARKING
Or they could jus find somewhere else to park
We’re you one of the ones scared to dine in when covid was around or did you feel safe going out to eat just because you had a mask on?
I wonder if most or a good portion of those against the sheds are restaurant owners who can't have a shed?
@@Will-cb4wbstreets were made for vehicles, not restaurants expanding their tables, seating capacity. Noise, rats ect...
Some streets like the village should be taken away .. pavements and street’s very narrow…
Sheds come a variety of qualities, but I feel they lasted for way too long. Even during the pandemic, the point of outdoor dining was so people didn’t have their cough plague indoors, but most sheds I’ve seen are basically mini buildings. All 4 walls and a ceiling. Whats the point if the covid air would be trapped inside? It's no different as just eating inside the actual restaurant.
I also feel that some streets just can’t have them due to space. Restaurants also take advantage by putting tables outside making it difficult to even use the sidewalk.
Yes! That's my objection to these dining cubbies overtaking the established sidewalk. One bar & grill I know of pushed people into the street by being allowed to take up the whole sidewalk area. Another pushed people out into the snow and rain with their al fresco setup dominating the protected area of a sidewalk. I purposefully refuse to patronize either establishment because of their rude monopolization of the sidewalk.
Sitting and eating dinner among car fumes - not my idea of dining.
you forgot to mention traffic noise just five feet from where you're sitting.
All of these sheds should be taken down, restaurant owners are taking advantage
Why?
@@daa5249free space on public space. Restaurants got a gift
Advantage of what?
Thank you God!!! Finally!!!
i would go after scaffoldings first
About God damn time!!
Not enough Space for
This city is so backwards. Literally one of the few actual nice things for people destroyed for cars 🙄
Most chicken coups in my home county are nicer than most of these sheds
This is a metropolitan city complete with needed delivery access for construction, emergency, and delivery buildings….rotting wood outdoor seating is a waste and clogs the streets like cholesterol clogging your arteries….you can’t be this dense..😮
Right, stop catering to cars, its annoying.
get rid those stupid covid housing
Especially the ones sitting in the gutter! 🤮
we need parking spots back. Get rid of these tax evading part of the business.
@@stefanmarchione6757 The gutters are for the homeless and democrats.
No, those things are beautiful and provide a nice dining area along with removing a lane on wide, nasty streets.
Using public space for private business should not be allowed. Sidewalk space is already crowded. NYC leadership is nuts. Not only .... NYC is zoning all high rises in Long Island ity for rental. Forget affordability ! It's not even possible to buy. I don' know why people live in NYC It's mostly a sewer. Living in little boxes of air and walking on dirty streets all the time is gross. And ... people pick up their dog waste in little baggies and just drop it back on the ground. New Yorkers are negatively affected by living in their little prisons.
Beautiful and unique dining structures like this that narrow unnecessarily wide streets and beautify downtown areas should stay. They are a unique part of new York that are distinct and give us a more unique culture and things.
@@xijaomao "Unnecessarily wide streets ?" You obviously never drive. Traffic is terrible! You probably don't pay taxes either! The rest of the state subsidizes the sewer that is NYC. . NYC is on a suicide mission with it's hi-rise condos and migrant shelters. Glad I don't live in the City !!!
Remove Restaurant sheds on Austin st in FH NY 11375
Two of those Columbus Ave shacks got slammed by cars 4X ! Fortunately there weren't any people at the tables that got wiped out.
Empty restaurant space but the streets and sidewalks are crowded and residents have to listen to the NOISE !
Please take it down because it’s costing owners money!
Funny how those sheds saved NYC and now they’re being taken down
People can go back to eating inside just like they did before.
@@rjd3wine I like a more less regulation approach, the government always wants to get involved in everything in nyc
@@mon3ylounge the problem with that is that sidewalks and streets are shared space. In some locations, these sheds are eyesores that I'm tired of having to look at when I walk up the avenue. And since they were supposed to be temporary, they're generally made of materials that haven't worn or weathered well or been maintained in a way that makes them inviting. They just look like what they are: dirty, make-shift leftovers.
@DannyEastVillage "Dirty make-shift leftovers"...PERFECT description!!!
They should dismantle the ones that don't get alot of foot traffic, alot of them are always empty !!
Yeah I agree with that lady, the nice looking ones should stay up.
well, they've served their purpose, one of which has been providing an option to postage-sized tables in crowded, noisy dining rooms. But, for the most part, they're turned into eyesores- with little that is quaint, charming or comfortable about them. And, for the life of me, I don't understand eating on a street in a make-shift shed with noisy, dirt-raising traffic playing havoc with your ability to converse.
Well, i argue they can sometimes beautify things as i've seen nice colorful ones with pretty lights in them. People where i live seem to like sitting in tables and chairs outside.
The city will change their tune when they see the loss of the tax income and permit fees. Seems the city is all about milking people in the most inconvenient way.
Never eat in one of them after I saw a bunch of crackheads sleeping in them, or drunks taking a piss on them.
Rats running in and out from underneath to eat the scraps that fall between the floor boards.
I like to have the option to eat outside
A one-time fee of $1,050 for a four-year license for sidewalk or roadway dining, or $2,100 for both...
Another money grab...
And why should it be free considering you get to write off the fee on your tax return.
@@felix1185 NYC should encourage business, not punish it.
These things look like shit most of the time
Like all the fuckin scaffolding
Restaurant owners love it because they get more square footage for free
I hate these eyesores
Bring on the bulldozers
They've waiting for a crazy driver to take one down
Restaurants were allowed to build dining rooms on the street and sidewalks. No rent paid. Just extra tables. Crazy
ABOUT FUCKING TIME!!!!!
Leave them up. A reminder of the idiots who fell for that scam 4 years ago.
You mean the 12000 who applied when it was and unregulated.
Part of the charm...
Side walk cafe opening near you soon ha ha..
In PDX it seems like they are kind of used to signify that you are on one of the ‘safe’ hipster blocks. Like, a guarantee that there are no fentanyl addicts within a 3 block radius.
why the shed still up
but they're ghetto fabulous
Why usage of the "ghetto" euphemism?
@@oracleofcecilian5262 because the whole scene lacks class and culture....
Dining sheds are hazards! Theres always a chance of a car crashing into them. Whether its by accident or by a drunk driver. Soo....dine outside at your own risk.
Two of the four sheds on my block got slammed into a total of 4X ! Fortunately no one was sitting at the tables that got slammed over.
THE GOVERNOR OF NY
NY HATES WORKING PEOLE.
KEEP THE GOOD JOB
GOVERNOR.
it all makes sense now, they need the sidewalks open and clear to allow the homeless to put tents there😊
Get rid of this Nonsense!
They virtue signaled to put them up. Let's see them virtue signal to take them down.
Stupid ideas originate in NYC.
I like them but they do take away parking spaces and it’s time most of them went away.
Good they shouldn't be up it's stupid and always was! It's ugly and dangerous it's on the streets. Put tables back outfront on the sidewalk.
Why so they can give the sidewalks back to the homeless and illegal street vendors?
Restaurants lease space from buildings to operate, often the cost is per square footage, if restaurants build structures on public streets and sidewalks to operate their business, then they should have to pay rent, per square footage, to the city.
Restaurants are doing more than putting a couple tables& chairs in front of their restaurant...theyre taking limited parking spaces, making cramped sidewalks even smaller, not to mention adding to the rat problem, and if the general public isn't benefiting from them then why are these businesses able to benefit and profit from the use of public spaces for free?
A homeless person is not allowed to make claim to public streets, but businesses can claim public streets because their diners want to eat outside?
It's long over due these things go!!
one restaurant near me isn't even using it for dining, they've been using it as a shed to store their extra chairs and tables as they take up 2 parking spaces.
Exactly, restaurants lease from a landlord. They got yrs of FREE space on sidewalks and the street for free.
You nailed it. Thank you!
Should’ve been gone last summer
People stand on the sidewalks making decisions on what they want to do and you have to maneuver around them and if you tell them your blocking the side walk they’ll look at you funny 🤨
Yes. Evenings and weekends are miserable trying to use the sidewalks. Not to mention the noise from chattering drunk people
Going against the problem you created?
Sorry but looks like outdoor dining is here to stay, new yorkers love messy sidewalks with garbage and food mess everywhere its tradition here unfortunately...
trying to look like europe or some shit
That's good. Europe is superior to america anyway. It has beautiful, walkable, bikable cities alongside better social safety nets, better welfare, universal healthcare, better labour laws, better regulations.
Nobody should sit outside when thugs are running wild
Rat problem is bad enough in NYC
A blight on the city. Should have never been implemented
Click bate. There was no threat. They gave owners options
Notice that the woman who advocated for the sheds staying put had a symbolic face diaper around her neck, still. Tells you all you need to know.
All they do is attract rats.
SO BUSINESS OWNERS got undone applications and the poverty level and injustice and corruption has suffered the city! oh hell no.,
Please do they’re annoying af
Delivering to restaurants in SoHo is a complete nightmare driving down these streets with these outdoor dining structures on each side of the street
So all of you were completely justified (to yourselves) for sitting outside during covid because you wanted to go out to eat yet now that you’re fear is gone the restaurant owners need to jump through hoops and spend more money to take them down??
Bizarro world we live in.
Take the shit down they're getting free space on a city street we want our parking back
Another entitled driver who can’t walk an extra block 😂
NYC is about to get ride of cars altogether
@@Tortilla.Reform another whining simp snowflake ❄️⛄
@Tortilla.Reform tortilla, go back to school, maybe Pancho Villa could teach you something new.
@@Tortilla.Reform another entitled whining snowflake cry baby 🍼
Then we will have another silly pandemic and these places will have to build the sheds all over again.
And all the same people here complaining will be the same ones wanting to go out to eat only if they have their mask and can sit outside 😂
Does a Jew need to file a religious permit or is this just never again to Israel?
Dining out like animals I'm from glad I moved out of nyc
What's wrong with outdoor dining? Also, humans are a species of animal.
If “take down”, then who’s paying for the costs 😮
Night. Time. Rats. Eat. In.
About time lol 😂
Pandemic, done, we need parking spots and delivery trucks to wait for it, deliver products and move on.
Clear, distinct traffic 🚦 and bus 🚌 lanes need to be fully restored, as well as access for Sanitation 🚛 and proper street cleaning 🧹👍
Traffic jams all day from delivery trucks cutting access down to one lane on those blocks
End stage democratic party
What if covid comes back
Yea it’s over now
It's a waste of space I could be parking my damn car right there. And it gives homeless people a place to stay.
Not to mention these sheds are a Heath Department nightmare Rats live under them Pigeons and all kind of flying bugs live inside.Sounds appatizing!
Long overdue.
Restaurants should turn them into migrant housing and charge the federal government rent (tax payers) like all the hotels and motels
Those sheds are too dangerous for the migrants to live in. They should be housed in Central Park Tower and have the taxpayers pay their rent. The Plaza should open its doors to the migrants as well.
They took some away in brooklyn but never returned the parking lol nyc bye
These are public side walks
Time is ticking away. . . ⏲️
Vote democrat
They are rat infested homes. Get rid of those bullshit outdoor seating
