After practicing this serve for at least 1000 times I played today with my new trainer :) Some of my side spin serves earned easy points for me and others somehow were returned to me with enough side spin to make me lose points :)) The ball movement towards me after it hit the table was not easy to predict :)) One thing is clear, this spiny serve is difficult to handle when unleashed :)
Tom, I return to this excellent video often. When you anticipate where the serve is going, for example to the backhand corner, do you start your pivot right as the opponent swings or do you wait to confirm? Thanks.
Good question. Ideally you should wait to see where the ball is going. If you pivot too early, a better player will see this and return to the other corner.
You should be mentioning where on the racket you should strike the ball - as lower on the racket will allow more contact time and thus more spin and for less spin contact should move up to middle of racket.
Yes, good point. If you can contact nearer the tip of the bat, you will be able to get more spin, as this part of the bat is moving faster and you can grip the ball longer with your rubber.
Thanks a lot for the video Tom.My question is this.Does bat quality play a crucial role in imparting lots of spin and speed or is it the players technique?I play with a basic bat.It does have some rubber on it,so I can get a little spin. But I cant get the speed along with spin like you do.My opponents return the serve quite easily.Your thoughts would be highly appreciated
Yes, the bat you use will make a difference. If you have a very cheap, basic bat, it will be harder to generate spin. You don't have to spend lots of money to get a decent bat. To make this serve go down the line, you need to turn your body a little more, so that when you contact the ball your shoulders are facing down the line. You can also try pointing you bat (as you contact the ball) down the line too.
Its good but i hope camera was close to you to see it better And show us where the ball touch table coz when i do it ball didnt touch the other side of table

You'll soon get used to how the ball spins when it is returned to you. Happy to hear it was giving your opponent some problems. Keep going!
Now I need to find how to deal with the returned side spin ;) Anyway, I'm very glad I started using this serve, thank you !

How can i make the ball go down the line instead of cross court

No mention of changing grip AFTER serve.
i tried to put a lot sidespin on my serve but i could not please help sir
The key is to brush the side of the ball with some racket speed. This will generate sidespin.
That is a left sidespin serve...if the enemy counters it where will the ball go ...forehand or backhand
It will most likely go back towards my backhand.
@@TomLodziak ok thankyou :) but what if my enemy is pimpled..where will the ball go
For me its just going fovard but i will practise
