Because media is run for profit and there is no incentive to simply report the truth when the reality is even the slightest hint of controversy thrown into a video title guarantees an order of magnitude more clicks.
i don’t understand. why in your video’s title you say “is safe?” ? for you is not safe? the video just show the ncap’s tests. It look like just a clickbaiting video.
@@danielhuffman I mean that too since they need a rigid bottom so the batteries don't explode, but the glass roof also makes it rigid so the car won't crumple from bottom AND top and everywhere

@may day explain why its a 5 star safety rating their bud, no roof collapse during pole test frontal safety 100 all great. you just hate Telsa for some bs reason and that proves your IQ is low
I knew that it would be decent, but I'm surprised how good it is. The cars do have some quality issues and areas where they obviously cut corners, but they definitely did it right when it comes to this.
Dont think it is worthwhile testing at higher speeds onto a solid imovable object as the g forces generated decelarating in a crash from 50kph/30mph would rattle your brain in your skull and internal organs. The car could pass the higher speed test but the human body will not, we are not made of concrete or steel, mostly water, the human body is not very robust in these situations. Higher speeds are survivable if the object being hit also deforms absobing some of the impact but a solid concrete block from 50kph would be a lot of energy dissipated quickly and violently. A 40mph impact into a solid object could seriously injure or kill regardless of how robust the vehicle structure is, its the rapid decelaration that kills. Check out a UK UA-cam video from a program called Fifth gear where they crash a Ford Focus into concrete at 100 mph, the engine is in the trunk. Its a real speeding deterent.
It allows for a more compliant crumple zone to dissipate the energy. It's the difference of landing in a dumpster filled with engines and a dumpster filled with aluminum cans. The crumple saves you a trip to the ER.
Kayy Bee That’s great, still it’s only a matter of time before another burning car sets one off, the onboard systems might be great at managing it but when it’s exposed to fire it’s gonna fail and explode to an extent far greater then an fuel tank going up...
Matt's Garage Thats not accurate at all. Cells on fire can’t spread to other cells, plus there is vents for smoke to come out of the pack and avoid an explosion. Mind u it would take atleast 40 minutes before actual flames encompasses the vehicle
Great side and frontal results but what happens to the Model 3 if is stopped and it gets rear-ended by a vehicle travelling at 30, 50 and/or 70 miles per hour?
HI this is just a personal opinion but I think you guys should crash test at higher speeds like instead of 30 or 40 do 45 or 50 mph I feel like this would give a better more accurate rating because it would push the cars to their limits and see how good they can actually protect their occupants

It is
How little the car deforms (and how little intrusion there is) under the 50km/h side impact is insane.

It has to do with the battery in the floor, not the glass.
