  • Now Fliers can have a more unique niche on the battlefield. After all, they are Air Units. Why on earth would fliers allow themselves to be hit by ground units? Sure, it makes sense that a diving charging Pegasus might get counterattacked by the bandit, but in that case, just throw a javelin, problem solved.
    All Flying Units have this Class Skill: When Flying and attacked by non-fliers, only Arrows, Ranged Weapons, and Magic can harm this Flier. Enemy 1-Range Melee Counterattacks harm this flier unless using a Ranged Weapon. Riders gain +2 Movement, become Mounted Fliers, and use the Flier movement type. Mounts cannot ride Mounts.
    My game has Monster Girls and an overhaul to the Pair Up system. No more turning half your army into 4 Strength 4 Stamina Leather Belts for the other half. Now, when a Rider rides a Mount, that Mount transfers its movement range and movement type to the Rider. And, of course, the associated Flier Skill that makes the unit immune to attacks that logically shouldn't be able to hit them. Mounts cannot gain bonuses from riding Mounts. Also, no more reclassing all your units into the best classes and hoarding all the best skills, eliminating intended unit identity and intended character power progression.
    Logically Pegasus and Harpies should just dump big bags of rocks and sharp objects and magic things that go boom on their foes. Or serve as mounts for Walking War Crime-level Wizards of Mass Destruction. Making sure Khazgahar The Wise gets in and out of Power Word Scrunch's effective range safely is more important than throwing javelins or swinging maces while Khazgahar and his merry men run on foot somewhere. But of course, one must accept certain breaks from reality when enjoying fiction. Who would play a walking simulator about being isekai'd into the wrong world due to a clerical error, an empty world destroyed by magic long ago?
    AI overhaul to make enemies not go for fliers unless those fliers can be hit (by fliers with anything, or by foot units with ranged weapons) coming soon.

    Thanks for clarifying things in the description. I was especially glad to see that an AI change to make ground troops with ineffective weapons not attack flyers is in the works. With flying being so powerful, I'm assuming more enemies will carry ranged weapons or will regularly be covered by nearby ranged allies. Otherwise, what's to stop a single pegasus knight with javelins from dominating everything with little fear of reprisal?

      I don't plan to make my game as overly easy as Birthright or FE8. I'll design my game to be challenging and fun, with multiple difficulty modes. For the people who aren't ready for a game as hard as mine, I'll include Phoenix+ Mode where all player units get Miracle++, ensuring none of your units can die ever. That way even bad players don't have to fear losing units.
