how funny that this run started like a stereotypical hero and his girlfriend story, until we remember that this is roy and it becomes a power fantasy of his amazing girlfriend.
It's why Gonzalez x Lilina is OTP. He wants a real man, who is thick and burly and can keep her satisfied throughout the night, like the Shania Twain song.
I'm glad someone else is also doing wacky FE challenges. They're so entertaining, and it feels satisfying to complete what was at the beggining, a monumental task.
I appreciate the dedication you put into this research. I also love the way you make little stories for the characters! That was adorable 🤗 Thank you for the video!
46:30 okay so there's a quirk with how enemy movement works in this game (probably the other GBA FEs too), when player units aren't within their attack range they search the map for units they can move to attack, except, they only check tiles the unit themselves can move through. Basically, they can't see tiles they can't stand on, so while they may be aggressive, they don't know where to move so they just sit still until you enter a tile they can move on, this case being cavaliers and mountain tiles
46:10 The quirk here is that movement AI tries to move toward the "closest" enemy, where closest is defined by movement points using the AI unit's own move costs. If the AI can't find a path to *any* unit to move toward, it'll just stay put. This can happen normally if you're just on the other side of a wall, but this case, enemies that aren't moving are unpromoted cavaliers, whose move table doesn't actually let them walk on mountains-so they don't see any units they can move toward; they're not trying to move to a tile to attack you from, they're trying to find a path to the tile you're actually standing on. You see people exploit this sometimes in FE7 30H by deploying Flo to rescue Hector and stand on unwalkable tiles.
Considering this was what I pretty much did on my first BB playthrough...yes haha. I was pretty blessed though, Lilina naturally capped her speed and I believe lvl 20 Lord Roy had like 18 Str 19 Spd so Roy was actually contributing even before promotion due to pure luck.
This is really impressive! Haven't beaten the game yet, so I can't watch the whole video, but from what I've heard it's amazing you're doing it at all!
The concept of throwing your units naked with no weapons in front of a boss is so hilariously illogical in the sense of the game... can't help but wonder what the units were thinking lol.
Excellent video and run first of all. One quick note (and I'm sorry if you found this out later or if someone commented it already and I'm blind), but you can manipulate acquiring desert items in chapter 14. The process is before you move a unit into a space where an item is, let's say the Boots, you soft reset (A + B + Start + Select), choose Resume Chapter, press the info key to look at that units stats, exit out and move that unit to the area where the item is. If done correctly you get the hidden desert item 100% of the time.
46:12 someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I know why the AI behaves this way. Aggressive AI of FE6 works by the enemy first looking for a unit it can attack in its range. If it can't find one then it looks for the closest unit it can attack on traversible terrain. Most foot units can cross mountains very slowly, so they can see Lilina and Roy as potential targets. However, cavs cannot move onto mountains at all so they don't "see" your units until they get off the mountain. Once in range though, they can and will attack. Proir to this point in the video the enemies attacking were archers and mercs who can cross mountains. Once the issue shows itself you can see the only remaining aggressive enemies are cav units. This is most easily repeatable on chapter 13 with Melday on water tiles or Gonzalez on peak tiles.
the run of Lilina and her boyfriend/pack mule vs the world. chapter 16 and Douglas-he joins with Xavier (FE5) in being enemy generals that should be joining you without any issue, but plot induced stupidity/pride is the only reason they don't and insist on being a royal pain in the arse to recruit. At least Xavier had the excuse of his soldiers' families being held hostage, Douglas has no such excuse. He already knows the prince is still alive and never died, and he allowed the king to be held hostage instead when he should have been protecting him, betraying his country to 'protect' his king when he knows that the reason the king is depressed and able to be manipulated is a lie and he should have bloody well told the king ages before to prevent etruria from being manipulated and taken over by bern. Who knows how many of his countrymen and fellow soldiers his idiocy got killed. And then you get rewarded for saving him from his own idiocy with the obnoxious map that is 16x. Hannibal (FE4) is a lesser case of enemy general fighting against you, but he's a standard enemy recruit, just using his adoptive son that was being held hostage to recruit him Probably should have kept douglas's weapons to sell, just out of spite if nothing else Wow, Roy turned out pretty dang well when he was finally allowed to promote. Might be one of the best Roy's I've ever seen, ignoring ones that use tons of statboosters from the secret shops and silver card For the druid that didn't heal zephiel-was he even in range to reach zephiel with the physic staff? Maybe the staff ran out? Ch 23-regretting giving the ch 22 dragon shield to Lilina-no, you made a good call doing that, or roy would have one shotted her when he was berserked
thanks for this. I was curious about a roy solo. Someone posted one a long time ago but it was on normal mode and he had other units help attack sometimes so it wasn’t really.
I've done it in SOV, and the forest with the mages in Act 3 of Alm's route was by far the hardest battle of the bunch. Funnily enough all of my resets actually came from Alm's side.
I've done this exact run before. I went Ilia route because the aircaliber tome is pretty op, and Lilina typically grows great res. As long as you staff grind her in 16x, she can restore roy and soak up enemy staff uses. Roy can also use lancereavers and light brand. It worked out great imo, and ime.
Ah, yes, I too have joined up with my best friend to destroy the entire military force of a kingdom backed by dragons and mages. Just a casual Tuesday.
Aside from his lack of 1-2 range, Roy's biggest problem is simply his promotion being exclusive to endgame, if he promotes before, he it would be less decent, like ike in path of radiance, having decent stats, not seling exp, having enough movement so that you don't have to rescue him or wait for him forever and not having to train him in chapter 22
>i have to go sacae route I did it on normal for the first time my last playthrough Im so sorry for your (mental) loss, god i hate the throne nomad troopers (in my playthrough it was the farthest to the back one and i found that out after taking every fake one)
Roy is the worst Lord in the series? Last I checked, people loved a Lord who promotes late, is Sword locked in a game where they're bad, and gets a broken 1-2 range Sword that grants +5 Def. Works out for Ike after all.
Watching this made me really want IS to remake the Elibe games as a single game. I want them to implement the Marriage, Children and Inheritance system too. They could tweak it so it is balanced and no FE6 kids would be way too OP or royally screwed due to who their canonical parents were and at the same time make it so non parented FE6 characters are still viable to use, just that the kids would be a better choice like in the highest difficulties, hardest dlcs and in PVP but not enough to deter using ones favorite units.
You're a bit of a slow speaker, but thats pretty much my only complaint. You could fix it if you wanted, but either way I'm a fan. If you want, you can grab yourself a updated rom of bb translations at vimms lair
From a FE normie's perspective, it's difficult to ascertain what the fuck is happening onscreen because of how sped up it is, but the video is already 1 hour and 38 minutes so what can he really do.
@@SleepyBrady but he goes to illia by default if you get 0 exp on all four of those units. It makes literally no sense to try for sacae even. He had options and opportunities to go illia anyway with shanna dodging. There's no excuse.
Killing off utility units and missing out on rescue dropping isn't so much a "mistake" as a part of the rule set he decided to impose for the sake of this run. He wanted to do a Roy and Lilina *solo* run, and that's what he did. Also, he specifically chose to go to Sacae so that he could have a shot at getting all of the legendary weapons. Doing this on the Ilia route requires that Zealot be kept alive in chapter 7, which is straight-up impossible for a solo Roy to handle.

Incredible.
Nah roy is good
Roy gets carried by his dommy mommy Lilina
Fantasy version of Shikimori-san!

I like to think Roy was constantly throwing sand in the enemies' eyes to make them miss Lilina
He can't use magic but he can always use pocket sand
Such a supportive boyfriend
This playthrough is so funny. 2 young lovers, practically kids, mowing down the entirety of Bern's army.
Hector Rolling in his grave watching Roy and his daughter holding hands and killing Reds
Roy is just Lillina's purse.
That was absolutely wild. Kudos for doing a "Power Couple" run!
i can't wait to see the FE7 challenge with only the lords, where Hector trivialize the difficulty with hand axes
When the cog of destiny
@Setsuko that chapter is some dogshit
@Setsuko ZEPHIEL DON'T GO THERE PLS
@tecgarasilWell it’s tough on Hector Hard Mode
@tecgarasil Then it's rush everything with Knight Lord Eliwood and hope the green units don't kill themselves
Roy is our boy
Lilina is our hyena
I'm glad someone else is also doing wacky FE challenges. They're so entertaining, and it feels satisfying to complete what was at the beggining, a monumental task.
I agree, they make for very fun and different playthroughs of these games and give a completely unique experience.

training lilina is based, in a game where all units have garbage growths, you gotta nurture and treasure the rare growth unit!
Can we talk about that Chapter 19 Sage hitting 3 for 3 with his Sleep against Lilina?
Lilina and her purse Roy
I remember I tried to do a girls only run but had trouble in chapter 2 because Shanna didn’t do damage to Rude.
Very glad to see a longer video from you, love your content! I never knew i wanted such random trivia until i found this channel
There's a Desert item glitch that guarantees an item drop in the desert that you could consider.

I thought a level 11 Lord Roy before promotion in hard mode was impressive bro took this to a different level.
My favourite part of this is the Manakete having a panic attack at 53:39
These videos are interesting, but man would I never ever do this in my own play. This looks far more tedious than difficult.
nice, good job roy and lilina.
Came for the Solo. Stayed for the Xeno music
This the roy that made into smash canonically

Yes absolutely. That one is high up on the list of ones I want to do.

For FE4 I would want to try a Sigurd and Seliph solo. Thinking about it I'm not sure if it would be possible, but I want to try.
@@halvey_ A Sigurd solo is very possible, and so long as Seliph gets some decent inheritance gear then he would likely also be able to solo gen 2
