A word of warning: I would be very careful about plate replacement, the stock plate is stainless steel for a reason. It needs to be stiff so that the distance between the switches and the sensors on the PCB doesn't change
Bs. I‘ve been running a alu plate for over 6 months and had no issues with 0.1mm activation and 0.1mm rapid trigger. FR4 is very similar and should work as well. Brass is stiffer, no problem either. You just don’t know what you are talking about.
@@philipp594 all I said was that the plate needs to be stiff enough that it doesn’t mess with anything, I didn’t mean to imply that other plate materials don’t work.
@@benjaminhavens7266 I doubt it. The wooting has a very thick pcb and as long as the switches stay in contact with it there shouldn't be a problem. Wooting ran into problems, because they picked a too thin pcb before. Maybe I will run a super flexi plate at some point just to prove that.
Hey, I recently came across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule and it seems like a helpful tool for keeping your desk and other spaces clean. It offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, along with versatile accessories. The price seems reasonable compared to other brands I've seen. You might want to check it out!

I’ve owned this keyboard for about 4 months now and it’s incredible. I program on it more than I game and it just makes me feel like a proper dork. Very satisfying to type on.

Honestly I think a lot of people in the niche keyboard modding scene try to achieve a very specific sound, which is usually something close to a smooth and silent keystroke with the only tactile and auditory feedback coming from the cap bottoming out, though there's a lot more to it than that. But it isn't really a better sound in any regard, it's more that getting that sound requires going through the insane amount of effort to get there which makes the end result feel more satisfying.
I can't wait until my keyboard from Barrett gets here! I ordered it in.... like december and I think it was projected to be ready in quarter 3 of 2023 and the longer I wait the more excited I get
i js got my wooting and it sounds nothing like that, it sounds like a silent switch. if he didnt like the sound of the switches, he couldve got the magnetoc jade switches
the price of the plastic, keycaps and all of the aesthetic of the keyboard is actually worth about 20 dollars, the price of this keyboard is actually mostly the module, that costs around 150 dollard because of the way the switches work and all the work around it.
tbh, im the one who has been using gaming keyboard that gives potential more than feeling and look. The wooting is giving a very good feeling and sound compared to other gaming keyboards. And still, The best gaming keyboard on the market rn. (I have Apex pro mini and other top-tier keyboards in each brand. Therefore, I can honestly say it.)
Great and funny video ❤ Idea for the next stock keyboard mod: Gluing a rubber sheet cutout to the bottom of the steel plate to dampen the sound and resonance. I did this on a Redragon plate and it was really tedious but the end result sounded great even with the stock Outemu switches (which I lubed). So it's definitely an option instead of switching out the plate.
Nice wooting keyboards you both did a good job by modding them! Was really excited for the this modding video, I think you can tell by my appearances in the video :D
Hey there! If you're looking to optimize your desktop setup, I highly recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. you got me addicted to keyboards. currently have the keychron q1 with lubed milky yellow pros & tape mod already ordered a q60 retro lol, please tell me the BEST switches for this build. These milky yellows are super creamy, so I want something different for the second keyboard.
im surprised there was no mention on how the stems stick together. my wooting is the first ever lube job i did and the stems sticking together made it a pain.
There is only 1 stem in a switch what do you mean they got stuck together? Is the lube so thick the stem is getting stuck in the rails of the switch housing?
Actually prefer the before sound lol. I prefer the higher pitch, it has more high frequency in it :) Then again as a mixing engineer I like my high snares :P Both sound amazing though for me.
I like the Kilmat or whatever it's called. I've used Dynamat a lot and that works great. It was my favorite product back in my car audio days and it worked great when I coated the case of my Huntsman Mini. This thing weighs like 20 pounds now lol

wooting specifically says do not replace the steel plate because its necessary for the hall effect sensors to function properly
they have a polycarb plate available on their website and im using a kbdfans fr4 with no issues what so ever

It’s not a thousand times better…. It’s a million times better!
Btw replacing the plate is likely a bad idea, the switches have to be at the perfect position to the pcb for the actuations to be accurate

I knew it. When I saw S&C post a video with similar keycaps in the thumbnail, I figured it was another awesome trainwreck of a challenge! 🎉
It sounded very cool actually, the wood really came through and had a really satifying thunk to it rather than a thock.
