    with the stroke reducer (grey thing), what would happen if you removed it? would it give you more travel, ie: 150mm to 160mm. i would image that it would change the geometry of the bike?

      More travel and more chance of clashing the front and rear triangles together or slamming your feet into the ground on a full bottomout.

    Super helpful video, how many tokens would you recommend adding into a super deluxe 180mm rear shock on a canyon torque? I weigh around 74kg, currently running no tokens, I almost bottom the shock out every ride, but im super happy with the plushness, just would like to try some tokens for a more progressive feel! also any tips for getting the air can off? that thing is stuck on solid. thanks

    • @mtbtelly5522

      Kyle D hard to say, but probably load it up full and start from there. If its too harsh at 30% seated sag then you can drop a spacer and retest.
      Get yourself a strap wrench from a hardware store to get that can off. Quite ofter they’re super tight, a strap wrench is the best bet

      Pierre B you can only fit 3 standard single tokens in, but if you have the gnardog (2.5) token you can put 2 more on top of that which makes the volume equal to 4.5 tokens

    Hello nice video ! I got stumpjumper 2019 carbon comp and just updated suspension to lyrik ultimate with new airshaft and super delux ultimate , im about 94kg with all the gear . Cant really set the suspension well , any suggestions ? Started with 1 talken up front and 96 psi as recommended by sram but feels way to fast run 2 clicks from slowest no small bump sensitivity too...
    at rear its 3.5 talkens as tuned for the bike with 30% sag feels really hard so I guess need to try reducing it 2.5 to start:)
    haven’t even experimented with low or high speed compressions yet. If you got any suggestions that would be great 👍 thanks 🙏

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  4 роки тому +1

      Rytis Stanevicius take the token out of the fork and start at that same pressure. If too soft add pressure, if too stiff drop pressure. Try 5psi at a time. Once you find enough support from the spring, fine tune the rebound speed, and add 4clicks of lsc, 1 click of hsc. (Both from full open). Rear shock, drop a token out and go through the same process with pressure until you find enough support. If you find support at say 25%sag, you can add a token and drop a little pressure to start closer to 30% sag. Which will increase the cornering ability at the slight cost of suspension compliance. And keep the rebound fast so it can recover and stay supple on repeated hits

    Question: When opening the shock to change spacers/tokens, is there any lubrication that's required? i.e., What if any lubrication formula or oil should be used (if necessary) before reassembling the shock? Thanks!

      If its fresh then no. But if you haven’t serviced the air can for a little while it pays to take it off clean it and regrease and oil it. Just follow the sram aircan service guide

    Dear Telly. I recall you had a Remedy a year back. I Watched your videos and they really helped me a ton upon picking a bike, so thanks alot :)!. Got a remedy at a good price. However rear shock goes through its travel very easily as I am a 220+lbs rider. Do you know if these volume spacers would work on the original thru shaft Reakt:iv rear damper that these rmedys came fitted with?Asking as it practically is a modified super delux?

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  5 років тому

      Erich Bachman I’m not sure if you can get the gnardog in there, but you can put 2 normal spacers into the throughshaft one as far as I know. If its the 2018 remedy you wanna get that loaded with spacers. The 2019 doesn’t need as much shock ramp as the new frame design is more progressive

    Hi mate, I’m new to this. What determines how many tokens to use etc? What is your recommendation also. My front shocks feel good. Rear doesn’t. I’m quite heavy and enjoy jumping big shit. Any suggestions I’d appreciate.

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  4 роки тому

      ian docherty if you set the rear suspension to 30% sag and it feels soft and you go too much in and out of the travel, you’ll want more tokens to reduce the positive volume of the shock. This will make it feel like you’re using the travel more efficiently. Too many tokens will feel harsh on deeper hits, and you wont be using as much travel as you could be to create compliance

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  4 роки тому

      @@YLDCRD yeah you’ll want a bit more support from the shock. With 3 in there you’ll have to run it with less sag like 27%ish to avoid the bottom outs. Gnardog plus 2 gets you to 30% sag which has the bike handling much better and feels supportive and supple

    Hi. Great video. Thanks for the effort.
    Do you know how many, (if any) spacers these shocks have in them as standard configuration?
    I have just purchased a used 2019 Trek Remedy 8. Im a relative novice rider, and at 100 odd KGs. I find that I'm not using all the travel available, as I'm not really sending it too hard yet. If I reduce the PSI to a point where I do use the travel, then the static sag is quite high. I believe the previous owner has put spacers in there, as he was alot more advanced rider.
    I have just had the shock 100hr serviced, and asked them to remove any additional spacers to bring it back to standard specifications. But think they may have forgot, as I got all the used parts/seals and mounting bolts back after the service, but there was no volume reducing spacers in the bag of used parts.
    I would like to put the shock back to standard, and then tune/adjust from there. And if my riding improves to the point where I need a more progressive spring rate, I can add spacers back in.
    Sorry for a long winded question, but I would really appreciate your input.

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  4 роки тому +1

      Bram Biesiekierski hey mate, I believe that bike/shock comes stock with 2 standard tokens installed. The previous owner may have added 1 standard token to the max of 3, or he may have put a gnardog token (equiv to 2.5 standard tokens) plus 1 or 2 standard tokens (max) drop it back to 2 and find that sweet spot, it should be smoother and more compliant, and maybe a little easier on the climbs as well
