I’ve got a machine with a molded preset foot lifter, a silver plate cover on the back and a high (above the tension screw) mounted bobbin winder. I thought it was a model 128. But it also has a manual tension release, no shuttle release button. It uses the 28 style shuttle. It seems like at some point in the life of the 28 they began upgrading the body towards the 128 design. The shuttle with no release button says it’s a 28 to me. Kind of a mixed up kid.
Have you looked up the vin ? it will tell you the year and model , there are so many models we just cant be shur until we look them up , thanks for subscribing and commenting i appreciate it, hope to have some more new videos soon , stay safe and talk to ya again soon ...
I have the exact same model 28 you are describing. When I looked it up, it was classified as a "28-3" made in 1908, so I suspect there were some minor changes to 28s (28, 28-2, 28-3) before they fully rebranded the machine as a 128.
Sounds like you have the same problem as me lol a sewing machine addiction , i just found a machine ive been keeping an eye open for , but its another treadle, i dont have the room and want the machine and the price is so low i know im not going to sleep untill i figure out how to get it lol ....

I was happily thinking I had a 28 until you flashed up the photo of the 27! Now off to find your 27 video. Nope, update, now baffled, as further down in comments you say the 27 is a full size, mine is def 3/4 size but looked like your photo? Maybe my 1895 machine just has the fancy decoration that your 28 doesn't have, but your 27 did, mine did come with an original 28 booklet...
A 28 is a 3/4 machine as the 27 is full size , i have both machines in my collection if you want me to do a comparison video id be happy to do that for ya , you cant go off decals because they used so many on all types of machines for example my 127 and 27 have same decals , and when comes to the 66 it had lotus, red eye , and gingerbread and thats just a few decal sets .... when looking at photos the 27 and 28 can look the same but i can spot the differance from looking at the distances between the bobbin winder and the stitch length knob , hope this helps but im planning on doing a video on the whole lineup of vibrating shuttles real soon so you sorta predicted my future video ,,,shhhhhhh top secret ...lol
I have two russian 28's victorian style. Same models, different cases, different locks. Bobbin winder painted, back door made not from cast iron. I think you should keep the 28 because it is have good wood, big wheel and handcrank. Also where is the cover on 28?

Hand wheel on the Model 28 is larger diameter, and it's also 12 spokes.
