Most people have no idea how well these old machines were built. My wife sews and someone left a 1947 model 66 on our porch. I cleaned it and oiled it and it sews and looks beautiful. I feel the same way about them now and we are always on the lookout for them. Just found a 1952 model 201 in a queen anne cabinet for $20. A little oil and clean up is all they need. They will be sewing long after we are gone if someone will give them a little attention. Nice collection you have there!
Thanks , im thinking its time to sell off some , need to figure out what ones im keeping , probably the 206 and 201 ,,,,its going to be hard to see them go .....
A museum, hmmm, one that held my attention to the end, of course we all know singer sewing machines will always have much deserved attention! Lovely, thanks for the tour! lis

The skirt marker should have a pole with a rubber tube and a bulb, that would blow out a puff of chalk at the desired height, onto the skirt (worn by whoever it was being made for), to mark the hemline. Clever as ever these folk at Singer!

Wow they are beautiful. I have 2 very old singer sewing machines. and 2 modern the vintage are the best. l love your collection, Thank you for sharing. sue
I have a 1903 Minnesota model C and a 1911 Singer, both are treadle machines. Also have a 1948 Singer 201-2 and a 1952 Singer featherweight. Currently looking at another Singer treadle machine.
After collecting vintage sewing machines for a handful of years now, I'd say I have the skeleton of a pretty decent collection. Mostly postwar domestics, mostly European and Japanese machines. I *do* have the usual suspects from Singer, but even my 15 and my 201 are the more angular 'facelift' styling. And what I've learned is that so, so much of what's on the market these days is just shit. Whole rooms full of people sat in judgement on that Godawful new Singer "Heavy Duty" machine and had the utter AUDACITY to try to market it as a superior product. It's a not-very-thinly-veiled kind of contempt, and I choose to not be treated with deliberate contempt. Even the top-of-the-line new Husqvarnas and Pfaffs are so finicky and delicate and maintenance-intensive that they end up being not as *useful* as a Necchi BU or Husqvarna 21 or Pfaff 332 or even the humble Kenmores. At least those machines work, and work all the time. They never throw codes and if there's a problem with the stitch, it can usually be solved with a little thinking and common tools. There are a few good new ones, the Juki TL series and the Brother 1500xxxx straight-stitch quilter machines, but even at their price point, they're still not great. But they don't thread themselves and they don't have 350 stitches and they last forever, so where's the percieved market share in that? So contempt we get, and-- as long as people keep buying this plastic shit-- contempt we deserve. We need to start demanding better.
Unfortunately we are in a throw away world , but with people like you and i we can save history and teach our future generation if you build things right and with quality and pride they can last for ever , im accually happy the market is backwards , i get awesome all steel machines for a small fraction of this plastic crap made today , here is how i look at it , its easy to separate a fool from his money , i wise man will do some research . I always ask people what stitch do you do most often ? Do you need all those fancy stitches ? I accually enjoy useing cams and levers better then punching crap in a computer, sewing once was relaxing , when i watch my mom use her plastic machine i dont see relaxation lol more frustration , funny thing is she was the one to point me at vintage for sewing and she uses a crap plastic singer ,,,,,i dont get it lol , anyways thats probably enough jibber jabber from me , thanks for watching and i appreciate your feedback stay safe and hope to talk again soon ......

South africa full of surprises. I see singers floating around for 50 dollars for one that's not moving to 100 dollars for semi working 150 dollars for working. Thank you ,
Your machines are beautiful! I am wondering if you know how to replace the rheostat motor controller for knee bar machines.?
Are you talking abouf the bent wood knee bar style or the cabinet knee controller, the cabinet is same as foot pedal and there are videos on them from others , but if your talking the one in the bent wood case i havent looked at one ,i do have 2 , maybe i will do a video and open one up and see whats going on inside one ...but im thinking cant be much different then a foot pedal...sorry cant tell ya more ....
@@4486xxdawson it's a bentwood. 1910 Singer 66. The motor controller is there but rusty and a bit scary looking. I also have a 1923 model 99k that has a place for one but totally disentigrated. I'm not sure how to make a regular foot pedal hook to the knee bar.
